@@RecifulFox You've probably already figured this out (since it took 2 months for me to reply hecc) but it all depends on the metal type of the hammer, the shape of the hammer, how hard you hammer and the angle of the swing. I don’t see a lot of tuts on att but you’ve explained it better than anyone ever in the game that showed me, and I’ve only been on the game for 4 days😭😭😭
Hold up there, chief. Apples are the BEST food source in the game! You take one apple and hit it with a knife until it bursts into 4 pieces. Each pieces adds one level of fullness. You can carry a stack of 60 apple quarters in a backpack with an EXTREMELY low weight. People forget the importance of weight until they so overburdened they are crawling. Green apples can be eaten and their cores planted to (potentially) grow another apple tree. Apple trees produce TONS of apples. It's an endless source of easy food. You will ALWAYS have too much food with a few apple trees. Also, if you want a Speed Potion, the easiest to get is Carrot-Tomato-Spotted Mushroom-Tomato. Carrots are hard to get, but all of the other ingredients are abundant in the game. Tomato plants, for instance, can be grown if you find green tomatoes and cut them in half to plant. The WORST food are blueberries, which are insanely worthless for filling up your character. You can't eat them fast enough to keep your character alive. At best, you can use 4 in a boiling pot to make an "ok" stew. Ignore blueberries.
wow this is super useful, it's hard to find clear content like this on Township cause it often feels really confusing. Dumb question but are all these ingredients and capabilities in the Quest version as well? I've only played a few hours so far, but after seeing how much worse the graphics are compared to PCVR I'm wondering what else they removed in the quest version. I might just need to switch platforms, even if just for the graphics...
Not a dumb question! I've never ran the Quest version of A Township Tale but I would imagine that the ingredients should all still do the same things (as long as stewing itself is in the quest port). If the ingredients aren't working properly (or just aren't in the quest port) it's most likely just a bug (or it hasn't been added in yet). As for the quest version, the things I know it's missing (compared to PC version) are the climbing tower, mini forest and forest. The Quest has a few quality of life features that PC doesn't have (such as the mute keyboard and a few other things) but PC graphics are a bit better. Hope your enjoying the game so far though!

There are many questions I have for stewing, for example what's the difference between buff multiplier and extra effect? When you are cooking your own recipes how can you get a multiplier?
Q1 : An extra effect is something you get when you use an ingredient that is prepared properly (Like when an ingredient is cooked I think? Things to note (about custom potions):
-Inside the tavern, just up the stairs, there are 2 wooden pedestals, the one on the left will tell you the stats of each ingredient when added
-Most custom potions will end up gray
-Certain ingredients give better buffs when raw, but better nutrition when cooked, read the ingredient book to check
Things to note (about stewing):
-The closer the pot is to the fire, the faster it boils
-Uncooked and overcooked potions provide no nutrition or buffs, but will still give you 3 fullness
-Overcooked potions end up black
-Undercooked potions will end up a lighter shade of gray
-Four whole, cooked spriggull drumsticks will provide a full hunger potion
-While tomato is the most common speed potion ingredient, cut, raw onion provides a slightly better speed buff
-Filling empty gourds or potion bottles with water if you already have a thing of recall potion tends to be useful as many areas with water can't actually be used to cook with
-The little mounds of rock filled with puddles can be used to get water while in the mines
Things to note (about gathering/farming)
-Potatoes can sometimes be hard to tell if it's ripe or not (especially on quest), if the top is a dark green, it's ripe
-Plants have a random chance to grow into a sapling when planted (although not immediately), and therefore will sometimes fail
- Eggplants have 100% chance to grow
