This episode is from 2011, since then this guy and his family converted the fathers shoe business into 'Goodwin Smiths' which is doing very well!

Maybe he got lucky, maybe he asked the production company before coming on. Maybe they just cut the part where he asked what size people wanted or Deborah said, "Could I have this in a [my size]?"
I can’t believe how the entrepreneur didn’t realise that having this business in a holding company wouldn’t be ideal for an investor?
alot of people like this in the world. incapable of seeing anything from a perspective outside of their own.
I can't believe that the Dragons didn't realise that they could just invest in 'Train tracks';, the business that owns all the other businesses.
The guy also owned a large amount of the other companies and it wasn't a stretch to invest in his family who were presumably like him.

It’s very common and easily handled in the paperwork.
The company's current net worth is £1200000, current assets at £2200000. Seems like they really missed the boat here.

it took them 11 years and they're still not at their actual goal. They watched the boat sail away without any wind and thanked their lucky stars they could stay on dry land

Even if he kept a steady 400,000 net profit year on year (I doubt it and we don't know if he ever hit that number) it still would have taken 7.5 years to make back their money. Their investment would be a quarter their current net worth. How is this "missing the boat" mate?

The other business had a spotty track record, I reckon if it was making a profit and his brother and father were there, then he would've received an offer for the holding company

If you want money investment from the Dragons, you need to offer equity in the holding company that has a proven record. Don't insult them by offering crumbs like an investment offer in a franchise or subsidiary.

The shoes fold inwards with the sole outwards. The sole that goes on the floor, and is then in your bag? Any germs, dust, (or worse) you step in will be transferred into things in your bag.

Plastic bag is the answer, not rocket science is it.
The shoes are hideous and made of cheap synthetic materials so I wouldn’t buy them. They’re the sort of thing you’d find in Primark. And I wish I’d had something nice for breakfast, lunch and dinner today but sadly I’ve had a 2 avocado and 4 banana milkshake, 2 litres of veg juice made from carrots, celery, peppers and cucumber and lots and lots and lots of finely grated ginger and garlic and that’s my lot for the day.
