@blckbldng If other similar weapon systems are anything to go by, it would be very quick and probably preconfigurable for the gunner. The main limiting factor would still how quickly a shell could physically be loaded, and if anything the AMP would make that go even quicker since the guy loading the gun wouldn't need to worry about grabbing the wrong type of shell.
@@blckbldngPut yourself in the scenario of the Leopard tank this week in Ukraine. They fired a high explosive round rather than a sabot at a Russian tank as they were expecting enemy soldiers to appear. You cannot simply remove a round from the breech and replace it with a different round because NATO uses cellulose cases on the round and pulling one out of the breech may cause the end cap to come off which would release all the propellant into the turret. With the concept in the video the gunner simply selects armour piercing on a screen as all rounds have 3 functions.

Wow, its the first time im seeing this new ammmnition, and by far has already superseded current tank ammo of any modern MBT. Amazing work, Northrop Grumman!
I genuinely believe it would be wise to prepare for the production of this round in multiple calibers, such as 105-L7 standard, 140mm, 75mm-HV-Auto, and 90mm, alongside the regular 120mm variant shown. Seeing as how there are increasing rumors of certain military units switching to different/larger calibers, I think it would be wise to plan ahead,
It wont replace the APFSDS. It will replace the HEAT round, MPAT (multipurpose Anti tank round) the Canister round and the OR (Ostacle reducing) rounds. so all 4 types of round are combined into one round.
@@alta6055 actually no there’s another shot where they say something like “reduces loading complexity” and it shows them only loading this new HE-with-so-many-trailing-letters-it’s-literally-a-War-Thunder-meme and darts
no, APFSDS rounds were newer shown being replaced. I bet you mistook HEAT for APFSDS because both of them have "protruding rods at the front". However, it is still very interesting that HEAT penetration depth is no longer required. Heavy duty AP function will only be implemented by APFSDS.
But wait, that's not all! If you buy one M1147 within the next five minutes, you will also get a set of kitchen knives, a cupholder, a beverage cooler and a fancy hat!
For those confused with survivability and lethality, by survivability, the shell is a mix of 3 other shells (HEAT, HE, and AP) meaning that it will take less space in the ammo stowage with the round serving 3 purposes, thereby reducing the chance of an ammo rack explosion (War Thunder vibes here). And lethality due to being a mix of 3 types of shells, reloading can be faster, more lead being sent to the enemy, and more armor and fortifications being blown off to pieces, oh and let's not forget that the shell can airburst, which is highly effective for light armor, infantry, and if a gunner is a crack shot, low flying aircraft.
We now have HEATAPHETFPFS-FS (High Explosive Anti Tank Armour Piercing High Explosive Timed Fuse Proximity Fuse Shrapnel-Fin Stabilised) and it’s not just a meme anymore
1:30 "To maintain the element of secrecy and surprise for the breaching team..." Yeah, because when that 122mm round blows in the front wall of the house, Ahmed is going to turn to his buddy and say, "Hey, did you hear something? No? Then pass me the remote and the chips."
hehe We sent canister rounds to samir's door. needless to say samir was all over the wall when we went in....no need for a HEAT round. btw, its not 122MM its 120.
Nice evolution of munitions. Used to handle early HEAT warhead casings & cartridge case bases in production . It's a plug & play round for the fire mission variables. 🔥
This makes my Siege Tank so much more versatile. I don’t have to worry about getting swarmed by Zerglings, because air burst. I can stand off with any opponent with delay fuses. Ready to roll out!
I can imagine this being useful for special forces, if they encounter enemy forces of varying types they can use more or less of the required features of the ammunition based on the current type of threat (e.g if mainly surrounded by infantry, use lots of rounds set to airburst, vs the anti-tank settings for heavy vehicles) the reason why this gives an advantage is because you dont have to guess the ratios of different types of ammunition to stock in the tank before you set off.
Just more visible because you're looking through more of it. A bit like the atmosphere being no different at noon or sunset, you're just seeing the effect of sunlight taking a longer path through it.
Is it just a tracer or is also some form of back bleed to enhance range by minimizing the low pressure area behind a projectile like you have with some artillery rounds?
Ahh, the new main stream media talking point buzz concerning combined use military equipment! "If it's multirole, it must be mediocre at each role." @@StrongHarm I don’t remember that the americans used the F-35 against the modern air defense of the enemy. For example, the russian S-400 systems, these planes see well and they do not pose a threat to the Russian systems.
@@НиколайНикакоюс-л2ь Do some research concerning the F-35 and the S-400 (not from anti-U.S. Military CNN news). The highest concentration of S-400s on the planet is surrounding the Iranian Capital. Israel flew a pair of F-35s to the Capital undetected. Word has it they were not lit up on radar until they were within 10nm. Although dozens of S-400 radars lit them up, none were able to achieve a lock. The F-35 Adir's (Israeli name for the bird, it means "Great One") did a low-level pass over the palace. To add insult to injury, they did a second low level pass, and even though the S-400s were alert and ready, they still couldn't get a lock. Russia hasn't made any strides in military equipment since the USSR. The T-14 Armada? It's propaganda. It's gone beyond ignorance into madness. I served in the U.S. Military and saw the exceptionalism firsthand, and I was intimately familiar with enemy capabilities as part of my job, so I don't say these things lightly. The Russians are smart though.. why spend all that money on arms competition when you can use counterintelligence to make your enemy *think* you have capable arms? Afterall, don't we live in the age of "deterrence" instead of action? That's what they did during the Cold War. After it was over and we purchased some of their equipment for study, we immediately uncovered just how good their counterintel was... utterly superb. They had us convinced from the start. Only problem with that is while they were wildly exaggerating their capabilities, we were creating equipment that could contend with those fairy tale capabilities.. which is why we're decades ahead of any nation. The more he says m1147 the more you will remember this name

lol! This was made like a TV commercial. It practically makes you feel you can go down to Walmart and pick one of these up. :)
Oh hey, when these going to hit the store shelves?? I need to stock up…..
I think these come in 20 round boxes right..!
Is the brass reloadable??
Info unavailable to my knowledge, do tankers dispose the base plug or recycle ♻️ them.? For reload or make cool steel ash trays outa them.
Should be in Walmart by Christmas, but more economical to get the 100 round crates from Costco.
Is the brass reloadable LMFAO
Better question is if the mongs at the range are gonna pick up your 120mm brass
120mm ammo doesn't have a brass casing, the casing gets used as perpellent and only the cap at the base of it survives
I got one of these for free when I bought a blender on Amazon. Works great for cleaning out compost heaps.
This feels like watching a Truck Ad.
Well atleast the AMP Round will be usefull in the future era of ammunition tanks.
I genuinely believe it would be wise to prepare for the production of this round in multiple calibers, such as 105-L7 standard, 140mm, 75mm-HV-Auto, and 90mm, alongside the regular 120mm variant shown. Seeing as how there are increasing rumors of certain military units switching to different/larger calibers, I think it would be wise to plan ahead,
I love how there is depicted that it will replace APFSDS rounds but it’s just a new multi-purpose HEAT-FS
It wont replace the APFSDS. It will replace the HEAT round, MPAT (multipurpose Anti tank round) the Canister round and the OR (Ostacle reducing) rounds. so all 4 types of round are combined into one round.
@@CCM1199 it is what i said, but in the video it shows that « it will replace APFSDS rounds » but that is false
@@phdnk huh ok then guess yeah I did assume wrongly
Just got some of these last week. Great product. Highly recommended. 9/10
“ENHANCED LETHALITY”, I love how there isn’t a “do not try this at home”…. Finally, something I can do at home with my Abrams Tank
The arburst looks awesome - I guess this round is available in every walmart in texas...
If it is up to NRA it will.
Of course, because 'Merica
You can hate the military industrial complexes all you want but you can’t deny they make cool stuffs
@@nickthenuker7916 Now we just gonna wait for APBESHFSDS and we can peacefully destroy each others' countries...
Nice. Cant wait for these to be available to the public.
Ahmed huh ? Okay elohssA
@@Cockalicious Lighten up, Francis
Damn, it's so cool to watch supersonic projectile in slow-mo.
Camera was more expensive than ammo ha ha.
This footage is seriously fantastic
Seems like a modern version of the MPAT round.
Its the round replacing the OR, MPAT, Canister and HEAT. sure gonna miss them rounds.
Nice evolution of munitions. Used to handle early HEAT warhead casings & cartridge case bases in production . It's a plug & play round for the fire mission variables. 🔥
I was waiting for the part where the ad will say "available now at walmart and ammo and gun shop near you".
big round of applause, ladies and gentlemen... it's what we always needed, real problem solver, yeah.
Impressive munition! Are they for sale at my local Walmart?
All the school age kids are getting their parents to buy some for them….
This makes my Siege Tank so much more versatile. I don’t have to worry about getting swarmed by Zerglings, because air burst. I can stand off with any opponent with delay fuses. Ready to roll out!
outstanding product, very helpful to bring democracy anywhere when needed. 5 stars, would recommend.
That's probably the most American thing I've seen in a while
I can imagine this being useful for special forces, if they encounter enemy forces of varying types they can use more or less of the required features of the ammunition based on the current type of threat (e.g if mainly surrounded by infantry, use lots of rounds set to airburst, vs the anti-tank settings for heavy vehicles) the reason why this gives an advantage is because you dont have to guess the ratios of different types of ammunition to stock in the tank before you set off.
There are special forces tank battalions??
Um, no.
stunned how the air compression only occurs above and below the projectile letting us seeing it in its undistorted beauty
it happens all around, its just much bigger and easier to see
Just more visible because you're looking through more of it. A bit like the atmosphere being no different at noon or sunset, you're just seeing the effect of sunlight taking a longer path through it.
I love how the camera captures the supersonic shockwaves and tracer effect as it flew downrange!
What graphics settings are these? 😂
Is it just a tracer or is also some form of back bleed to enhance range by minimizing the low pressure area behind a projectile like you have with some artillery rounds?
It is some nice filming to be sure.
Visible Schlieren...
Definitely gonna be picking this one up at Walmart. cool ad bro, I like the rock music put over this, make sure you give the editing slave a raise.
10/10 Would purchase again.
My jaw dropped when I saw the amount of shrapnel the air burst option had.
more than the 1125 tungsten balls from the canister round.....
Gotta say seeing the shockwave travel with the round in slow mo is pretty cool.
looks like the endless battle between zoom lens and fixed focal length lens, one to replace all, yet subpar compared to each individual.
Ahh, the new main stream media talking point buzz concerning combined use military equipment! "If it's multirole, it must be mediocre at each role." They love to use that talking point on the F-35 ... and somehow none of them got the memo that the aircraft achieved an 80:1 a-a kill ratio and nearly perfect a-g BDA... and they're still saying it LOL.
@@StrongHarm I don’t remember that the americans used the F-35 against the modern air defense of the enemy.
They had to tow it off Red Square when they tried to use it in a parade, and intel shows that the "leaked" capabilities were wildly exaggerated (which is nothing new.. see cold war). The Belgorod Submarine that CNN says will kill us all before it can be detected? That keel was laid down in 1984 and rusted for decades before they knocked the rust off and called it a "New Super Capable Submarine". We routinely follow their subs around the ocean, shadowing them within 100m for weeks, undetected. Our Sailors and Ships are 10 of 10, unmatched by far around the world, and their ships are 2 of 10 sailors 6 of 10 at best. I don't blame you for not knowing that though... our own media trashes us because they think we're spending the lunch money of our nation's children to build ships.
I postulate that the KGB can take more credit for American Military Exceptionalism than our Free-Market Capitalism and Scientific Aptitude, combined! LOL! Thanks Commies!

LOL. Didn't know that anyone believed in fake news about F-35 flights over Iran. I hope you know Santa Claus doesn't exist?
PS
In secret, just don't tell anyone, otherwise your brain, washed out by propaganda and films, may stop working - the KGB is the country's internal security, just like the FBI. It is not engaged in the dissemination of propaganda, in general, especially outside the country. Suddenly, huh? Intelligence and external relations are handled by the GRU, as well as by the CIA. I hope I did not destroy your pink world, carefully woven for you by the media.
And yes, movies and games are the imaginations of creative people. They do not reflect reality, you do not need to be brought up on them. If you want to know life - enlist in the army. Though just the thought of it makes you have intestinal cramps. 🤣🤣🤣
@@НиколайНикакоюс-л2ь I appreciate the lesson on current Russian agency structure, but if you actually read my comment, I was referring to the former Soviet structure and mission where counter-intel misinformation is concerned. If you think that mission died with the Soviet Union, you're not thinking. Concerning the topic of Soviet/Russian Capabilities, F-35 capabilities, and my opinions on force structure; your advice to "join the army so I'll know what's really going on" is a little late. I'm over 50 and a disabled combat veteran, so I served during the Cold War ,among other wars. My opinions are based upon first hand information and experience. I was simply being nice by taking the time to answer your question. That time is over. You'll only sound foolish, trying to teach a cowboy what a cow is. Out.
I don't normally post a review for things, but I felt compelled enough by the quality of this projectile that I want recommend it for everyone! It truly is multipurpose and makes an incredible gift. Can you guys do a video on how this was filmed? It was very impressive.
I think they use "rotating mirror cameras" with ultra high speed CMOS or similar. Theres videos about those on youtube.
That is an absolutely insane amount of fragmentation on the air butst demonstration
Interested to know if my standard home reloader kit will work with these.
0:34 how does it increase lethality and survivability at the same time?
Moar ded bad guy = moar go home gi joes
Northrop Grumman dropped the sickest amp commercial and thought we wouldnt notice
But it doesnt replace AP, but replacing all the other HEAT, HE and canister in one round is good.
What about 4-em-1 is it the same as this one or different?
AP isn’t really used anymore just APFSDS and this round seems to be an advanced HEATFS
@@Skylikesavation By AP i meant Kinetic energy rounds
I believe they included outdated rounds in the "4-in-1" count, namely M830. So it'd be replacing traditional HEAT, HEAT-(Multipurpose), Canister, and HE
I could very well be wrong on that, but it's my best guess
@@Skylikesavation APFSDS is only used against another tank as the round itself has depleted uranium. This round replaces all HEAT round variations (HEAT, MPAT, OR (Obstacle reducing aka M908) and CANISTER rounds). The Sabot round will always be in inventory and will only be drawn as it depends on the mission tasking.
@@76456 Sabot will not be replaced at all. this round replaces all existing High Explosive Anti Tank round variants (the MPAT: Multipurpose Anti tank with the nose toggle with air/ground mode, OR - Obstacle reducing aka bunker buster, The Canister round - 120mm buckshot round and your standard HEAT with the shaped warhead) All these rounds are being replaced with one round that is capable of conducting the type of damage that the other 4 can do.
Nice if I want to buy one for a recoilless rifle where do I go also how effective is the round against ifvs
I've been using these in my M1 Abrams for a few years now and they have never let me down. I'm the only one still alive in my neighbourhood would recommend

Can we give the credit for the camera they used! You can literally see the shock wave builded on it dangg
I shall give this round 5 stars.
