Hey man, good on you for making the best of a s***** situation! I hope someday you are able to gain some freedom but it sounds like you're off to a good start. I'm disabled myself I never got the chance to go to college either but I was fortunate enough to eventually move out of my hometown which didn't really have opportunities for me to somewhere that did. My transportation issues in my old town actually left me housebound for the better part of 4 years Transportation is not great all the time but I'm now taking the bus or just rolling places because my town is a little more handicapped friendly and I'm still saving for an adapted vehicle. I'm learning this so that I can make my current job easier and maybe eventually just get a regular programming job. Right now I'm an IT person in a small organization that pushes me to grow my skills all the time. Some day I would like to be a person who builds things especially software. I'm eventually hoping I could go back to school too. I'm 24 right now but I'm probably not too far behind in the grand scheme of things

I’ve been home bound for a while im trying to keep myself busy with making videos to pass the time, I’m in Arizona now hopefully I can move further in the city to take busses or an area like Tempe it’s college town out there. I should get back into coding but I didn’t find a passion for it, most of my passions unfortunately are something I’m not physically capable of so I have to find a secondary thing I love which is gaming since it kept me sane after all the years being stuck behind 4 walls lol

Hi, i am new to coding world. i am working in a automobile manufacturing company as a labour. we have 2 shifts and we change shift every week. in day shift we start from 6:30 to 15:35, with 3 breaks. 8:30 to 8:40, 10:40 to 11:25 and 13:25 to13:35. and another short break at 15:35 to 15:40 if we work overtime. in 1 shift we can do 2 kind or work, and the time is count separately. for example in line 1, I worked from 6:30 to 11:55 and work on line 3 from 12:00 to 15:10 at the end we spent times to calculate total working minutes minus those breaktimes (work on line 1, line 3 and the total of working minutes) Questions: I keep wondering if coding with Python can help me count faster? I also interviewed a gentleman with a 2 year community college degree and 2 years of experience as a developer. The position was for a junior level developer. Guess who I recommended to upper management. The gentleman with 2 years experience of php and 1 year vue.js, since neither the guys from india knew what the solid principles were among other simple sql questions. Forget school and be the self teaching type then get an entry level position anywhere, and keep learning. School is a waste of time if you plan to be a software developer.

@@VArturoReyes search in settings: code-runner.executorMap and when you hover over it there is a gear icon, click that. Press "Copy Setting as JSON", then press edit in settings json and paste in the code. I am GUESSING that's how you do it, but not sure since I have a PC not mac.

Two questions: 1. How do I configure Visual Studios so that the color of the code matches in the video. I'm on windows and I get completely different colors (or sometimes just basic white like on "ceil" function) 2. How do I configure Visual Studios so that the box where the run code appears doesn't show the text associated with "[Running] and [Done]", or in other words so that it just shows the executed code and nothing else?
This might be too late, but I thought I would comment anyways. 1. He has a different color in his text because he is using a different theme from the default. You can change your theme by navigating to Settings by clicking on the Gear in the bottom left corner of your screen and click on settings, from there a new tab should open up named settings click User Settings and expand the Workbench drop down click on Appearance you should see a option named Color Theme with the selected theme of Default Dark+ if you click on the drop down box you can choose from 14 different default VSC themes. The themes change the color of the background/text/and menus, you can also download custom themes by navigating to extensions (Ctrl+Shift+X) then typing "Themes" into the search box and installing your desired theme. (I do not know what theme Mosh is using in the video) For further customization you can also edit the settings.json file under Color Customization. 2. To configure extension settings you must once again navigate to User Settings, click the Gear in the bottom left corner of the screen and click on either Settings or Extensions then click the Extensions drop down box. There you will see all the extensions you have on VSC find Run Code configuration and click on it. Scroll down until you see a selection titled Show Execution Message and uncheck that box.

And i would really like if the course will explain the programming concepts and the whys behind the code. i mean things like why you wrote a script the way you wrote it and no other way, best practices, code design, code or programs architecture, testing, well stuff like that, i don't know exactly i'm not an expert, but things a professional developer should know . not in a in depth way because i know it is not possible, but at least in a general way so students can know what to search about if they want to get more advanced. I think this way, i (and other students) will be able to solve problems in different new situations and not just memorize and repeat the code in the videos. i hope this give you some ideas, Thank you again.

I continue to have trouble with VSCode. . None of these editor are easy to use. I am getting error messages. I cannot get smiley face. I am not sure of the ctrl + and there are other things going on with setup guessed at options. Great class learned at lot from your other class. But, I may have have to drop out in 10 months four other courses I have had a problem with VSCode.

BTW, for those using Mac OS like me, maybe you have Python 2.7 already included, but if you want to make use of Python 3 You should execute python3 (once you have installed it) instead of just python (because some Mac os always run python 2.7 by default if I am not wrong). oops this was explain here anyways...

Doing programming for more than 5 years learned different languages but trust me there are very few who have such a elegant style as you I actually enjoyed that I think everyone should go for it also after completing this course there is one more crash course for dev by him you should go and check few more key concepts most are same but search for some more few concepts like immutable and mutable objects

Need help, whenever I try to install the linter pylint i get this message on the terminal: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement pylint (from versions: ) No matching distribution found for pylint. I got the latest version of phyton 3 64 bits.
When you dont get the confirmation that python is already installed, it just means that you don´t have the latest version. It it fine to have 3.whatever it is. Basically, as long you have the third version, don´t need to worry at all. Head for the next step.

@@doodlelord I did the technical interviews recently to 2 gentlemen from india, both with master degrees and internships. I also interviewed a gentleman with a 2 year community college degree and 2 years of experience as a developer. The position was for a junior level developer. Guess who I recommended to upper management.
The gentleman with 2 years experience of php and 1 year vue.js, since neither the guys from india knew what the solid principles were among other simple sql questions. Forget school and be the self teaching type then get an entry level position anywhere, and keep learning. School is a waste of time if you plan to be a software developer.
I was under an impression programming is hard, impossible NOT for people who has zero knowledge in programming language. But your video make it so simple python step by step and that brought hopes in me now to be a programmer one day. You rock my friend.

For my mac users...when changing the code-runner.executor map setting from "python -u" be sure to use "python3 -u".

@@VArturoReyes search in settings: code-runner.executorMap and when you hover over it there is a gear icon, click that. Press "Copy Setting as JSON", then press edit in settings json and paste in the code. I am GUESSING that's how you do it, but not sure since I have a PC not mac.

For the 1:40:57 exercise thingy I did this code :

its wrong.
He said to write a code without using step i.e. increment so we will check if varible "i" is even only then print it thus our code will look somethong like this:
for i in range(1, 10):
if i % 2 == 0:
print(i) # Print each even number
# After the loop, print the message
print("We have 4 even numbers")

Two questions:
1. How do I configure Visual Studios so that the color of the code matches in the video. I'm on windows and I get completely different colors (or sometimes just basic white like on "ceil" function)
2. How do I configure Visual Studios so that the box where the run code appears doesn't show the text associated with "[Running] and [Done]", or in other words so that it just shows the executed code and nothing else?

This might be too late, but I thought I would comment anyways.
1. He has a different color in his text because he is using a different theme from the default. You can change your theme by navigating to Settings by clicking on the Gear in the bottom left corner of your screen and click on settings, from there a new tab should open up named settings click User Settings and expand the Workbench drop down click on Appearance you should see a option named Color Theme with the selected theme of Default Dark+ if you click on the drop down box you can choose from 14 different default VSC themes. The themes change the color of the background/text/and menus, you can also download custom themes by navigating to extensions (Ctrl+Shift+X) then typing "Themes" into the search box and installing your desired theme. (I do not know what theme Mosh is using in the video) For further customization you can also edit the settings.json file under Color Customization.
2. To configure extension settings you must once again navigate to User Settings, click the Gear in the bottom left corner of the screen and click on either Settings or Extensions then click the Extensions drop down box. There you will see all the extensions you have on VSC find Run Code configuration and click on it. Scroll down until you see a selection titled Show Execution Message and uncheck that box.

this is the best python-beginners video i have ever seen, and all you content is great, i really love the way you explain things and i'm happy i found your Chanel. Thank you Mosh. i can't wait to get the full course :). And i would really like if the course will explain the programming concepts and the whys behind the code. i mean things like why you wrote a script the way you wrote it and no other way, best practices, code design, code or programs architecture, testing, well stuff like that, i don't know exactly i'm not an expert, but things a professional developer should know . not in a in depth way because i know it is not possible, but at least in a general way so students can know what to search about if they want to get more advanced. I think this way, i (and other students) will be able to solve problems in different new situations and not just memorize and repeat the code in the videos. i hope this give you some ideas, Thank you again.

I continue to have trouble with VSCode. . None of these editor are easy to use. I am getting error messages. I cannot get smiley face. I am not sure of the ctrl + and there are other things going on with setup guessed at options. Great class learned at lot from your other class. But, I may have have to drop out in 10 months four other courses I have had a problem with VSCode.

BTW, for those using Mac OS like me, maybe you have Python 2.7 already included, but if you want to make use of Python 3 You should execute python3 (once you have installed it) instead of just python (because some Mac os always run python 2.7 by default if I am not wrong). oops this was explain here anyways...

Doing programming for more than 5 years learned different languages but trust me there are very few who have such a elegant style as you I actually enjoyed that I think everyone should go for it also after completing this course there is one more crash course for dev by him you should go and check few more key concepts most are same but search for some more few concepts like immutable and mutable objects

Hi there. At about the 25:00 minute mark of this video, you show clicking on the 3 dots button to find the “Open settings JSON command. This 3 dots button does not exist on my version of VS. How else can I accomplish this?

I got the latest version of phyton 3 64 bits.
When you dont get the confirmation that python is already installed,
it just means that you don´t have the latest version. It it fine to have 3.whatever it is.
Basically, as long you have the third version, don´t need to worry at all.
Head for the next step.
