CHEAPEST PHILIPPINES FISH MARKET? AND WILD! - Muslim Mindanao, Tawi-Tawi

  • THIS FISH MARKET IN TAWI-TAWI MINDANAO COULD BE ONE OF THE CHEAPEST IN THE COUNTRY? It was surreal not only walking around and seeing what was being offered, but the prices were very cheap (compared to where I live in the Philippines).
They have unique fish, some of which I am not so sure about (could be endangered... could be dangerous... I am not 100% sure though, and am not one to judge without knowledge and understanding of local culture). Anyways, in this video you will see us visiting the fish market in Bongao Tawi-Tawi. It was pretty wild walking around and having a look at all the different things for sale... I do love the way they sell though! Traditional barter style!
After buying our fish for the day, we ended up on a boat adventure to Simunul Island. Here we visited the first mosque in the Philippines! Yes, this is the birthplace of Islam here in the country. A lot of Muslims will pilgrimage here. It was a beautiful experience. I really love connecting with my friends who are Muslim here in the country.
A cheap fish market, a wild boat ride, and a beautiful day in Muslim Mindanao!
    THIS IS TAWI-TAWI!!!
    POWER ON!

Have fun in your island trip brod. Wow this island is so beautiful , there is so much respect and culture in it. I never expcr ro see the beauty of Bongao the people culture and the food, the fusion of truly malay where we filipinos truly belong, pre hispanic time, tawi tawi is a place you want to go back again and again

Looking spiffy and great in your outfit! Tawi-Tawi and Simunul from above are incredible - credit to the drone's lens view and the operator - amazing shots! Thanks again for taking me to places that I may not be able to visit. This is one of the many reasons why I was drawn to watching your videos. Following your blog is making me feel like I am vacationing with you. There was a time in the past that Tawi-Tawi is known to be dangerous place to go to but watching you walking comfortably, making conversation with the locals, making jokes in the market appear to be a safe place after all. People are incredibly friendly and approachable. Your guides are incredibly knowledgeable to the history of their area. Your intrepid attitude sets you apart from the rests of the vloggers that makes you unique in many ways. As always, I wish you Jundee and Kumar safe and sound wherever you guys go.

@Dean Amil Hi Dean - The role of media in our society is to uncover stories, it maybe bad or good in a town or a province, it's their duty to put their observation in writing. Media acts as a watchdog to protect public interest against malpractice and create public awareness. There was a time in the past that Mindanao was known to be a troubled "region" Foreigners were being kidnapped for ransom. There were also rumors that segment in the society were controlled by an organization. Media people were being killed to suppress them from bringing out the truth what's happening inside Mindanao. There is validity in the negativity of the story because of things happened in the past. Unfortunately, the past is connected to the present. I hope the negativity will slowly disappear because Mindanao is truly a beautiful place. Kyle is so good in promoting the Philippine Tourism. I wondered if he is being paid by the government for promoting Philippine Tourism? He is the only vlogger that makes extra effort to go places and film places that never been visited nor seen before. I totally agree with you, Manila is a dangerous place compared to a lot of places in our country. Thanks for connecting.

You deserve an award from the Philippine government for this documentary. Just imagine, I can see Tawi-Tawi because of your vlog. Its a window to appreciate that these Mindanao places are not as many are thinking DANGEROUS to tourists.

Been there during early 90’with foreigner husband. We departed Zamboanga with a ship to Jolo and continued to Bongao Tawi-wi.I experienced that market visit to buy the best of the fish and that cheap too...There’s so much to do in Bongao like immersing into the life of difft.tribes of Muslim.Having a first hand experience of the Badjao people having the chance to be given by the govt.to live in a stilt houses with their boat tied nearby for easy reach when needed....Badjao people had rituals to observe every month during full moon where weddings are held, young boys are prepared for manhood...Little did we know that Badjao being called the Sea Gypsies....never stayed in one place...every month during full moon they moved to another place...One unforgettable experience was we were staying in Badjao boat where you can see how they lived in a boat,,,the fishes they caught will be prepared for drying and sell it in another place where they go.There we had some info about their life for documentary purposes....What I missed during our stay there, was that rice was not their staple but instead steamed cassava which by all means no problem to adjust....The next island we visited was Simunol known as peace loving tribe...Our host are the educated family and all of them had visited the Mecca,,,.the ultimate dream of a Muslim..People rarely possessed a piece of land as a status quo,but lo n behold they own miles of hectares in the sea to plant agar-agar or sea weed, their main source of income. Here in Simunol ship building was also fabricated, the wooden ship with no nails everything only being glued.Another phenomenal experience we had in Simunol was when went to somewhere we don’t know, hired a speed boat for 2 hours to what they called Laut,,,,which means Ocean, surprisingly when we arrived middle in a wide wast ocean,,,,the water was only knee deep high with only 3_4 adjacent stilt houses ,they called the area as Lagoon,,,That area was owned by our host family....this area was suited to plant the best and most expensive type of agar-agar,,,,What an experience in Simunol......
