I don’t think I’ve seen so many people so excited about a roofing job. 😉❤️
@@CenturyHomeProject Because we aren't paying for it.

@@CenturyHomeProject I've had a leaking roof! I get the excitement 😁 ☔ ya know everything else can be fixed once you're covered! 👍
Watching you use state of the art technology to make the things that craftsmen made 100 years ago makes me admire those builders so much more.
I was thinking the same thing.
Woodworking is becoming a lost art. The new tools may help keep it alive. Talent and tools!
Dan has really streamlined the process of preparing the timber, he has tremendous skill in everything he puts his hand to

Your doing amazing job 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I think you and Billy Petherick are single-handedly keeping the French lumber industry in business!
Two of my most fav TH-cam guys, Billy and Dan, the most hard working guys on you tube. What makes them special, they enjoy what they are doing.
Don't forget that church in Paris. It used a lot of wood, too.

AGREED!!! Love both channels to bits!!!
I seriously can not believe how fast you have gotten things going in the last few months. It’s like you put your foot on the starting line, and just took a step and are almost at the end. Remarkably. You alone and with your friends have gotten so far. Congratulations! You’re almost there.❤
You are a bright young man, Dan. You have learned so much in the past two years. It is amazing. Your work ethic is amazing too. You can be very proud of yourself as you continue on. You certainly have a huge cheering section. Please be careful, we all worry about you.
well, there is still a fair bit more to do...
I truly admire your capacity for work and ingenuity well done! Godfrey Australia 😊
better he slow down, otherwise he soon has nothing to do.
His work rate is amazing
It is absolutely incredible that you’re doing this A frame by yourself thus far. Very impressive.
The second best part of a new video from Dan is reading the comments from around the world! Truly amazing

Good morning from Canada!
Having the right tools makes a huge difference.
Hooray for sponsorships!
I am impressed that he has integrated so many new tools into his work process. He is very clever!
I just watched a Batman movie and I’m reminded of one Joker comment “where does he get all those wonderful toys?”
What type of tool is that that is making the tenons?
Especially when one knows how to use them ... I watch to learn how to do stuff...
The building, the filming, the editing, the knowledge & skill....Absolutely phenomenal 👏 🥇🏆
Fantastic to see the tools delivered by Axminster tools in action!
Never like to miss an episode.
When I first started watching your videos I thought you were crazy for trying to restore such a derelict, old building, but I'm now happy to say you've been slowly proving me wrong.
When I watched him in the garden at La Lande and restoring his little house I knew he was up for this. It just takes a bit longer!
Slowly?? 😂
Well done Dan and a HUGE thank you to AXMINISTER for sponsoring you with the magnificent Machinery and the right tools. Sure has made the rebuild so much faster! Amazed by your progress! Well done from New Zealand 🇳🇿 👏🏻👍🏻
Peace ✌ out my friend, from Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸
Your catalog of tools and your mastery of using them is astonishing. To think back to when you started and what you had to work with, while still creating amazing things…. Just WOW!
Waiting for next episode every day. A year long fan from the Netherlands . So inspiring!
I have been to your lovely country. Such wonderful memories. From Florida, have a very happy day!
Wow Dan you are going to have that roof done before the cold weather! Maybe not totally done but at least waterproof! You make “impossible”dreamers proud! Good on you!
He is looking for a forever chateau for his kids and maybe for his grandchildren. He doesn’t have to deal with molds. Thumbs up for his crating
Watching a Mansard Roof being built from the inside to the outside is fascinating! Thx! 👏🏻☺️✌️🐾🐾🌻🇱🇷
Honestly, you make this precision cut work look like childs play. Wonderful tools and your carpentry skills are spot on. Carrry on..
Nice to see you wearing the safety glasses. Nick must be would be so proud. 😇
You’re a genius !!!! It’s amazing to see how quickly you’re moving with the second mansard. A M A Z I N G !!!
Dan, you just tell those bits they'd best fit! There's over half a million folks watching them.
It's so great to have the equipment to make the cuts in the wood easier.

Kirsch chisels from Germany are just the best you can get. Great tool choice, I’ve been working with them for years.
No radio needed with the song of the birds
Do you remember the video where the bird was singing through the whole episode. I forgot what Dan said about it. It sounds like the same bird! Lol
All the best tools, finally. My man Dan is going crazy right now! Love to see how far you've come in appreciating high quality woodworking tools and being able to do such great work with them.
The Festool sponsorship sure doesn't hurt either..
I would say the lack of experience shows. Using dominos for a structural element is pretty dodgy.
@@BunkerMentality Depends on the direction of load, I'd say. Can't remember what he used them for specifically, but I think it was just something to help align a standing post?
@@capslock9031He didn’t actually install them in the video, so it’s hard to be certain, but it appears they’re used on the joint between the studs and the top plate for the wall that supports the kink of the mansard. Not under any shear load in normal circumstances, but tbh, they’re either under no load and are therefore pointless, or they’re under load and are therefore not strong enough.
Remember, this is the guy who mortared steel beams to the tops of the walls for no apparent reason. No additional fixings and not even attached to each other.
@@capslock9031I take my previous comment back. The new video shows that he’s used them in the top of the upright supporting the A frame. This will be subject to a shear force as the weight of the roof will be loading down and outwards at that point.
I get that the amount of work he’s doing is impressive, but he is also half-arsing so much of this. Having a load of expensive new tools hasn’t changed that.
With your natural ability to 'see ahead' and figure things out, combined with some great tools, you are a one man wonder Dan! I love it that you're not a bragger, just one heck of a worker!
It is so cool that it all being dried in is coming into view!! It will be a HUGE milestone. Working in the dry. What a concept!😃

You have gotten to be a real pro with the complicated roof. And good tools make all the difference.

Everyday I am just blown away by your self taught skills builder man Dan !
You always seem positive, and not discouraged. Inspirational
Gosh you’re so clever Dan… as I was driving to work I saw a truck delivering some a frames to a new housing estate. Thought of you and how you single handedly made yours and constructed them into position. Thank you for showing us the way you make the groves and how it all comes together. X
Dan, considering that much of this you are doing by yourself, I commend you, seriously!!! You are one hell of a self-taught engineer, architect!!! I am extremely proud of you!!! Stay buoyant, (grand) Son! (he's not really related to me - it's just a saying).
Oh I think there's a whole lot of profession architect and engineer assistance behind the scenes that Dan doesn't show. But he does refer to them occasionally.
I‘m pleased for you, seeing you‘ve got the tools you need to carry out all your carpentry work,
The A Frame. I love it when a plan comes together! Cheers!
Yes. My favourite channel. Bring on the new roof. We'll have curtains on those windows by next year. Great work team.😊
I cant wait to see how they do the bathrooms
Yeah, electric first fix and plumbing next.... Windows then plastering and final floors seem so achievable now 🎉🎉🎉
Oh I do hope Jarvis has nothing to do with the curtains, I suspect Dan’s sense of style is much better.
You truly are working so fast doing a great job. Not only a builder your a film maker as well. Good on you.
Hi from St Louis Missouri USA! I hope when the day comes that you have finished the outsides, roof, windows and exterior doors and can be snug and secure sleeping all night there that you save that moment for you and your boys, because that will be the most precious memory!😊

Love you trusting in your ability and that THIS TIME you are tightening up your procedure and trimming down those extra steps. Great Job!
I still think you should make a pole with a hook on it for when you lift with the winch, with this you can hook the cable from a safe place and it will stop you from having to lean over the hole to grab parts that are lifted it will also make it easier to pull in the load as you will be able to lift higher up grab the cable to pull the load towards yourself and lower to its resting point. In the end it will make everything safer
