Also this might be a stretch but the Phantom Troupe is kinda similar to Akatsuki imo. Also I fully acknowledge that some of these are just representative of the Shonen style of anime as a whole, and not specific to these two anime.
Fun fact : The very design of Kurapika's conjured weapon is what we nowadays call a Ring Bracelet. However if you track the very origin of the ring bracelets it goes way back to the Indian and Arab culture which was worn by women only on special traditional occasions such as marriage. Also, it had to be made from gold and it was considered one of highest things you could ever offer to a woman. Again, it is highly related to marriage and ceremonies almost to exclusive. It doesn't stop here, it was actually almost to be considered as a "heritage" or "treasure" when the time of utmost need a woman would sell her Ring Bracelet, and it would get them quite a handsome of money. It is emotionally equivalent to a woman selling her red BMW or even her house to get her husband or family out of trouble, a sign of sacrifice where other woman would keep praising her and talking about how selfless she is.
