Almost 99% of comedians here PH can sing so good. They use their talent in singing to entertain. Ethel Booba, kay brosas, kakai, donita and also meme vice Ganda are some of the famous comedians that are also known for great singing.
Kakai and K are actually two of my favorite performers/singer-comedian... they're really good. Their performances always exude good vibes..
Kakai Bautista was one of Lea Salonga's production assistant during her "They're playing our song" musical show. She was in charge of helping Lea with her quick change backstage and wash and iron her costumes. She basically takes good care of Lea during the run. Even made a joke that she's the one who saw Lea's body before her husband get to see it.

I was able to hear K Brosas sang live during our company's Christmas party celebration pre-pandemic. Her voice is soooooo powerful and entertainment wise is world class..
To your question as to why they veer towards comedy even if they're legit singers (they are professional singers by the way) the answer is because you get booked more and you get constant work. Also, Pinoys are hard to entertain, we get bored with straight singing no matter how good. We need the whole entertainment value which means we need comedy, dancing and the whole shebang. If you've noticed, the non-comedian singers will try their best to be funny in their concerts because that's what the audience wants. So if you're a great singer and you think you have a comedic talent, you'll really take advantage of it. Foreigners seem to not get the concept that a singer can be a comedian. They think that if you're a comedian, you have an inferior singing talent and therefore they're always surprised that comedians in the Philippines sing excellently. Also, FYI, K. Brosas and Kakai Bautista were singers first before the were comediennes.
They are good in both worlds, but in the Philippines it's hard to compete with prominent singers. By being comedian singers they could perform anywhere before the pandemic.
Hello ovela goodevening kakai was lea salonga's wardrobe assistant before. Kakai said that lea salonga is one of the few people who inspire and motivate her to pursue her career.

Being a stand up comedian here in PH requires talent. highly appreciated when singing thats why..There's not much space in music industry hence others tend to find other profession that also they could make use their talents... some succeed
Here in the Philippines before the pandemic there are lots of comedy bar whose performers are lots of comedians but instead of expressing comedic as a stand up they usually performed by ways of singing comedy style aside from battling each others as whose the best on stage they usually battle it out on singing
She's the dental diva coz of her big gums.
And they chose comedy because it's hard to compete in the industry when there are already those icon and big names in the Philippines like Regine, Sarah G, Lani, Zsa-Zsa, Morissette, Kz and many other artists. So they have to create their own identity through comedic act.
They both are pretty successful in both comedy and music. It is just that competitions in music industry is way tougher than in comedy.
