I love mine. Bought a Radio Shack branded one last year [ Not sure if it's A or B version. No sticker on the back ] I disabled the mute then i ended up sending it to Lowbander for mods. I'm pretty happy with it. Good video by the way.
For a desktop type receiver your choices are very limited if you are looking for brand new. Second hand a good FRG 7 from Yaesu or a Kenwood R600 or R1000 would do better than the Realistic if you can find a g one.
Doesn't it have a whip antenna? I think that many folks just tried that and didn't realize how much better an external antenna would help. I used to work at Radio Shack and had an interest in shortwave, but a lot of the sales folks really couldn't give the customers good advice on them.
@@petersmits6951 Yes, and many customers thought that little antenna would do EVERYTHING, but it fell short of their expectations. Which is sad, because even with a simple dipole in my apartment, I was able to listen all over the world with the DX100. Wish I'd had the money to get a 394 back in the day.
Yes and I am a fan of your feed as well. An old radio hound , been DXing since the early 70s.
Discovered your channel yesterday. Great stuff on here.

I used to sell these back in the day and most of them were returned. The early batches were not very sensitive, not sure if they improved those later.
