I'm really happy you liked this. They are a seriously underrated band. I think the genre they fall into is synth pop. I can recommend their song Clearest Blue as the next one of their songs to check out.
Live videos are one thing, but actually seeing this band live in person is an amazing experience, something I've done twice this year. The atmosphere and energy you feel while your just feet away from the stage is incredible. I'm a bit addicted to Chvrches right now, definitely one of my favorite bands of all time at this point.
I'm so happy you like them! They're great and their repertoire is magnificent. They deserve more recognition! I hope you will listen to more of their songs. Maybe "How not to drown", "Clearest Blue", or "Dead Air".
Ah glad to see you're onto Chvrches. They did a song called Death Stranding for the Hideo Kojima videogame of the same name. You might want to give that a listen too as it's fabulous.
Fantastic band! So nice to see you watch a more _specialized_ band. They have found their audience for being a new-ish band so heavily invested in synthesizers. Right up my alley.
I saw them live on September 28, 2022. They are unbelievably amazing live. I also got to meet them and they are the kindest souls. They best kind of good people.
Judged on your expressions, you went through the same stages of "wow!" as me when I discovered them. They exist already for 10 years, this one's from their 4th album. And: They are an absolute blast live, their concerts are more dancing venues! :) Plus: That was a live rendition. That's how on point Lauren's singing is. And they fall somewhere between synth pop and electronic goth rock.
Lauren is one of my favourite Scottish female singers up there Shirley Manson and Elisabeth Fraser. I saw Chvrches at Osheaga 2014 great show and reminded me of Cocteau Twins. She had me at hello with that Glaswegian accent.
Hey Rob. If you like the Cocteau Twins may I recommend (If you haven't heard them already), a band called Seasurfer. The tune Dragon Song is rather splendid. :)
I love this band. I have a public playlist of their songs if you wanted to find more of their music. I would like to suggest 'Never Say Die' because I absolutely love her vocals and the synth reverb in that song.
I love all Chvrches songs. They are really really good, one of the best bands actually and improving year by year. I don´t know anybody that doesn´t like them :)
These guys are self-produced and they really know their stuff. Check out Violent Delights from the same KEXP performance. You will notice that Martin and Iain are producing a majority of the music with Guitar and Bass. They know their pedals as well!
Just getting into Chvrches myself, love this song. Should watch this song in one of the live shows with the blood... It is a Vocoder effect, not auto-tune. Imogen Heap Hide and Seek is an extreme example of its use.
Loved your reaction to Lauren and Co. I would be interested to see what you think of Martin’s ‘High Enough To Carry You Over’, currently going through a breakup/divorce myself.
I always find it pleasing to find a group with a female lead. She just reaches in and gently plucks those heartstrings. Her voice sounds delicate with the potential for mayhem.
I'm not sure that is auto-tune. To me, from my experience, it sounds more like a ring modulator. Great review nevertheless. Just discovered Chvrches, they are sooo good! :)
Chvrches are a fantastic band, being from Scotland I've been lucky to see them live three times now. They've stated that they have been heavily influenced by 80's synth including Depeache Mode and they are massive fans of Prince. They've released four albums up to now, Three of which have been fantastic. The third album, Love is Dead, is arguably there weakest. Screen Violence, there fourth and from which this track is taking from, is imo there best. Other tracks to check out would include Lies The Mother We Share Recover Clearest Blue Bury It Never Ending Circles Leave A Trace Miracle How Not To Drown Violent Delights. These are the ones off the top of my head but there will be others. Loved the reaction and subscribed 👍
Finally beautiful and super talented LaurenMyberry and crew, fab Chvrches, being reacted to.......this is a great band, and more attention should be like mandatory.....but you two guys, my beloved Beautiful Redhead Lady and her charismatic Bearded Gent keeping it together,, as always. I would suggest you check their last album filled to the rim with awesome songs delivering a very feminist message and I am a 69 year old musician painter and proud granpa....trust me I know what I'm talking about. Now, this is "How Not To Drown" live, featuring The Cure's RobertSmith, just do yourselves a favor and check it out th-cam.com/video/LfNesY6MR4k/w-d-xo.html Have a good one!!!!!! You should also do some more Wolf Alice, and look up Nothing But Thieves and awesome Biffy Clyro, great Brit bands.......ooops I just saw my suggestion being reacted to WOW!!! Luv u guys!!

Leave a Trace too. :)
lies.... is a great track
I would not say they are _seriously underrated._ They belong to a smaller genre perhaps. Other genre are so immensely big and commercialized.
I can listen to their entire library end to end. Love every song. Seen them live 6 times amazing!!!!
Can you recommend a good Spotify playlist for a new listener please? :)
As an old man and a Blue Nile fan most of my life, great to see younger Scottish talent continuing to create great songs.
I'm also a massive The Blue Nile fan.
On the Screen Violence album track Better If You Don't they mentioned Tinsel Town In The Rain.
Incredible performace from an amazing band
Glad you caught up with them. They have a great catalogue. Check out How Not to Drown with Robert Smith of The Cure.
Totally doing this song. We love Robert Smith

I am 65, very old school, but really like this band and her voice.
I love love love CHVRCHES. Loads of fantastic songs.
You're so right about her fragility, and the song opening up
Missed them...thanks for introducing me to them.
I'm so happy you like them!
They're great and their repertoire is magnificent.
They deserve more recognition!
I hope you will listen to more of their songs. Maybe "How not to drown", "Clearest Blue", or "Dead Air".
Get every chvches album, trust me you will love them all and no band can ever touch what lauren, lian, and martin do
saw them nine years ago, at their beginning, but already powerful! Lauren is such a great singer and performer!
Totally agree
Ah glad to see you're onto Chvrches. They did a song called Death Stranding for the Hideo Kojima videogame of the same name. You might want to give that a listen too as it's fabulous.
👀
Chvrches are amazing and should be MUCH bigger than they are if the world was fair. And they keep getting better.
Fantastic band! So nice to see you watch a more _specialized_ band. They have found their audience for being a new-ish band so heavily invested in synthesizers. Right up my alley.

Love Chvrches. Suggest "Clearest Blue" Lauren does not ever need auto tune, so when it is added it is for effect only.

This Reaction is wonderful, as much as the live performance!

@@pixelfascination I totally see why you recommended Dragon Song to Cocteau Twins fans.
Good stuff.
Thanks!
