  • #2008 is a 2019 Bombardier Flexity Freedom operated as a partnership between Edmonton Transit Service and TransEd.
Here, it is seen running south on the Valley Line between Quarters and Strathearn Stations on December 30, 2024.
    Enjoy!

Heya! Since this is a Valley Line video, and coincidentally that is a perfect time to be asking a Valley Line question. And it’s gonna be talking about the new Hyndai Rotem cars set to arrive in a few months.
1 - What are some Similarities between the Flexity Freedoms and the new Hyndai cars that are coming?
2 - What are the differences in interior for those cars?
3 - are you excited for them? (Just throwing a fun question for last)

      1. Both models look similar but with a few minor changes and design differences. The doors on the new trains appear to be entirely black with tinted windows rather than the white on the Flexity Freedoms.
      2. No interior shots exist on the internet to my knowledge except for mockup displays previously shown by ETS and TransEd to select participants in order to better understand what Edmontonians actually want in the new trains.
      3. I am quite excited for the first delivery. We are truly living in an amazing era where the City is finally picking up the pace on LRT construction and development across Edmonton in order to make way for the future of our transit network.

@@TransitEmperor4774 What does 1C and 2C mean on the digital time schedule display of the Valley Line? (Curious) 🤔

@@thecoolETSpro2019 That basically shows the amount of cars that specific train will be
      2C - 2 Cars (A Consist)
      1C - 1 Car (Single Car)

@@thecoolETSpro2019 It indicates how many cars the next train will be made up of. 1C means a one car train where 2C refers to a two car train.

Are Bombardier Flexity Freedom trains meant to be streetcars like the TTC streetcars? (Curious) 🤔

They are designed as low floor light rail vehicles. They can be used both as streetcars or as part of a light rail transit system.
However, TTC customized theirs in order to match what they were looking for with their streetcar system hence the doors on only one side as well as the trolley pole on each TTC unit.
