Honestly, you're the reason I bought these. I managed to find one from the Amazon Warehouse or whatever they call their open box stuff for like $75. Nothing wrong with them except the box had small damage on the corner. Easily the best Headphones I've had
@@vega8895 Yeah it works with an after-market mic. I just bought myself a FIFINE K669B and no complaints at all. (except maybe use the V-MODA mic if you don't want others to hear keyboard clicking, but so far nobody has complained about it with my on-table mic so, there's that.)
If you want the best for gaming guys buy the soundblaster G6 and go scout mode when you play (special feature that comes with the G6 and you will hear everything, and btw the boom microphone sounds bettter then my old Astro A50 gen 4 so ye.. its good and I play with a lot of different people every day and never any complains
Hey, man. I was introduced to X2HR based off this video and I finally pulled the trigger last week. Got it today, and oh my God! It is leaps and bounds better than my ATH-M40X. I've had it on my head for a few hours and it actually feels like I have nothing on. The sound quality is as great as you described it and I am very happy with my purchase. Cheers!
My non-HR X2s are still my favourite day to day "sitting at my computer" headphones. There are valid criticisms to be made about grainy treble and bass emphasis but none of that matters when a female vocalist is sending chills up your spine in a soundstage as wide as a field. Also the fact I can turn on the Arcs bass boost and have them vibrate my skull is a nice bonus.
Purchased these a few days ago after watching this review and I am absolutely loving them. Thanks for the recommendation and keep up the great content!
Bought these to compliment my Sony WH-1000XM4 as wired cans, and now these makes the Sony sounds like $5 headphones from Dollar General. They are seriously THAT good. They do have a weird treble spike, causing slight harshness in the highs, especially notable for making s sounds from vocals more pronounced and somewhat piercing in certain songs. It's not really that bothersome though, and the virtually flawless rest of the spectrum more than makes up for it. If a wireless Bluetooth version of this exists, my life would be complete!
I'm glad to see the price on these have dropped. I've had them on my wish list for two years. I can finally enjoy the next level of Phillips as I've been using the SHPs for a long time. Great video and review!
I'M SO AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THESE FIDELIO!!! I have rarely tried headphones as void in sound stage, definition, precision then the Hifiman HE4XX... I don't understand how everyone can love the Hifiman so much. I should have tried them before ordering them. But, in France, it is not easy! For me there is a world between these two headphones. I have some headphones. Beyerdynamic, AKG, Sennheiser, Sony... But it's with The Fidelio X2HR I want to compare them. The Fidelio have an infinitely better soundstage. Everything is more spatial, precise. If I had only had the Hifiman I would probably have appreciated it. But the Fidelio gives him a huge slap. It's not my style of music but, for example, on the track "Whisper Not" on the album "gipsy violin : swing guitars" the difference is such that this is where I decided to resell the Hifiman. It looks like two different recordings. One in a tin can with children's microphones and the other in a concert hall with top level sound recording equipment. On "Oh! Euphoria!" by Twin Atlantic, very spatial, everything stands out better on the Fidelio. It goes in all directions, the voices are separate, we could follow the little sounds of the gaze, it's ultra precise. with the Hifiman it is less obvious, more confused, tighter. On the fabulous recording of "The Traveler" by Allan Taylor, the first listening with the Hifiman is magnificent. But as soon as we pass on the Fidelio it is simply better, more realistic (guitars), more airy. The bass at the back, light but deep, appears infinitely better on the Philips and without excess. The guitar on the right is much more understandable and more realistic. We hear the pick sliding on the strings. It is much less noticeable on the Hifiman, too dull, less defined, more messy. The voice is very pleasant on the Hifiman but more textured on the Fidelio. On my own recordings, my guitar, a Gibson SJ 200 TV with a very particular, very full sound, is more realistic on the Fidelio. On the Hifiman I feel like I have an another guitar!
The x2s imo are marginally worse at everything compared to the akgs but I like the way they look so I kept them. Haven't tried the k7xx as yet since I opted to try the monoprice m1060 everyone raved about. The amp/dac i use is the Mayflower arc.
I have the x2hr's and I agree with badseed. These are my least expensive of 5 headphones and I like them overall the most. They're absolutely incredible with the sennheiser gsx1000 for gaming.
Bought the headphone mostly because of this video. It was damn worth it. Just watched interstallar again with the headphones on. It was like sitting in the cinema back in the days. Worth every penny. Playing the piano is also fantastic with these headphones. The open back design gives like an atmospheric sound, like the sound is not even coming from the headphones, but the piano itself. The comfort is also flawless to me. Used these for like 4-5 hours straight without any discomfort. Even in 30 deg. celsius my ears don't get warm at all because the open back design. Thanks for the recommendation. Subscribed!
Just ordered them last night, they’re on sale on Amazon they’ve gone from €202 or £175 to £105.99 for Black Friday or €121 which is around a $140, can’t wait
Started with the Fidelio X1 and got these some time ago because the X1 earpads frayed. I just love the sound and bass these deliver while being open back. Using the X2 with an antlion mic and got no problem with my friends hearing my ingame sounds.
Pulled the trigger coming from a pair of SHP9500. I kind of miss the details on the SHPs but my God the X2HRs sound AMAZING on some of my songs. I got used to the clean sound from the SHPs and now I kinda think the X2s sound a bit muddy because of the bass increase, but I think I will be keeping these headphones both for music and gaming (tested on the new CoD and Rainbow Six and I had no problem telling where my enemies were coming from. It does get a bit trickier pinpointing position due to the bass' depth but these make all games sound so much more fun). Thank you for the incredible review!
I want to use it for gaming too but was a little concerned that it would be a bit difficult as a headset and that there could be constant feedback in teamspeak/discord because the headphones are open and the microphone is omnidirectional/sensitive. Or couldn't you really notice something like that? Is the headset still comfortable after playing for several hours? Some people said that the contact pressure is too strong. Thanks 🙂
@@Pro-Bert Hey! Let me address your concerns to the best of my ability: - I don't have any feedback on Discord, but I use a Quadcast as my mic. This will highly depend on how loud are you listening to your stuff and your mic's sensitivity, but I've never had that problem (not even with my SHP's and a V-moda mic, for that matter). - Pressure will be highly subjective, it does add much more pressure than my SHP's but I don't find them uncomfortable now that I've broken them in. Initially it did hurt my jaw a bit though, but that's because I was so used to wearing super loose headphones. Ultimately, try to get them from a vendor where you can return them easily if you don't like them. Hope this helps!
And here we are in 2023. I’ve had these headphones for quite a few years now and needed new pads. I bought a new replacement X2 yesterday for £68.30 in the Prime sale. Not massively more than decent pads. This headphone is great and I didn’t hesitate.
The headphone that I've been using the most since I got it! Awesome review and it lines up exactly with my opinions as well :D It is one of those must buy headphones even if you have headphones that are expensive as hell. Good to keep in your collection!
Very enthusiastic, confident review. Zen vibes in the description. I particularly like how quick and neat the mic integration is, as well as the single 3.5mm cable (as opposed to the 58x split cable). Could a foam mic cover help with the sound bleed feeding back into chat? A little concerned X2 will be hot on the ears, but do absolutely look plush and deep. As to build - Finally! affordable hifi cans that are not mostly plastic. Will pick up a pair!
For anyone curious. I'm not an audiophile but I bought X2's about 3 years ago for 300$ At $140 got another pair for fathers day. Pros: ~Super fun headphones to listen to. ~Wide sound stage ~buttery smooth bass to my ears. ~insanely comfy, wear them for literally 12 hours at a time and forget they're on (I'm 6' with avg sized head) ~great for movies/single player gaming ~no amp/dac required ~easily found under 200 bucks now ~3.5mm removable jack, easy to hook up a mic ~durable, well-built Cons: ~Not great imaging for gaming. But in games like Overwatch with built in Dolby Atmos ingame, still work well enough just not as good as the audio technica ADH500's i've tried. Still like the X2's more for gaming. But for serious FPS competitive focus only, there are better options. ~Open back dynamics, so none of that super low sub-bass rumble u can find in closed backs (personal taste, I've found not having sub-bass makes them less fatiguing during long gaming sessions) ~After listening for a while and hearing audiophiles talk about them, Mids do sound a little recessed ~prolly gonna be bad for studio monitoring/mixing music
Damn, you sold me on these. This will be my first good quality pair of headphones. Phenomenal video and thanks for helping me decide which headphones to pick up.
2:30 I could completely be wrong but instead of sounding like the mic is picking up the headphones bleed, it just sounds like a cheap mic from the beginning
The V-Moda boompro really is an amazing aftermarket mic, but like he said he had a noise cancellation effect on the audio along with obvious feedback from it being an openback on top of all that its a boom mic that's rubbing against his beard constantly when he talks. What more do you expect? It's a good mic I'm speaking from experience but don't just take my word for it listen to others like Z reviews use and review it if you don't take my word for it.
Recently subbed to your channel man, and you've fast become my favourite tech reviewer. Love you presenting style, makes me feel like you're talking just to me. B-Roll is always beautiful, and your review of the products is always superb. You answer every question I have throughout each video and deliver an extremely well informed opinion. I wish you the best of luck with your youtube career
Sold! I bought the 58x but the clamping force is crazy. I wear glasses when gaming alot. Love your reviews and the intro! Can't wait to get these in the mail.
@@urfavoritehumanbean879 thanks for letting me know. I was wondering if they would stop clamping on my glasses. Clamping is bearable for 2 hrs though. Way better than sennheiser
I’ve had them for about a year and while I love em I’m probably gonna sell them for a nice closed back that I can wear in public (probably gonna go with the meze 99 Noir). Only problem I had with them was I would get a hot spot (after listening for over 2.5 hours) at the bottom of the pads under my ears. I let some friends borrow them and they had the same issue. That said, I could probably fix it by storing it clamped across a yoga block and loosening up the clamping force. For movies these are the gold standard in my opinion. The soundstage and bass really makes soundtracks and explosions atmospheric, and the people sound like they’re right next to you. Inception with these headphones is one of the best movie watching experiences I’ve ever had. They don’t fit my style of music best but if you like anything with bass these are your friend.
Just got a pair of these today, on a monthly plan they are a solid purchase. I currently own a pair of HyperX Cloud 2's, great pair but I wanted to try something with a richer sound. The moment he mentioned that this is a solid pair for EDM I didn't hesitate any further. I'll edit this comment in a couple days and give my 2 cents on how these sound and compare to the clouds.
@@tralexium Yea I decided on picking up the Sennheiser hd599 on amazon, got a good deal with black friday but feel free to let me know what you think of the fidelio's :)
@@FieryHellzGaming I'm tempted to send my hd599's back and get the fidelio as I want to have a mic, desktop mics pick up too many vibrations from my keyboard
@@iwillz5368 I bought the X2HR's yesterday and at first I have to say I didn't like them at all but the more I listen to them the better they get, swapping between them the X2 is definitely sounding much better now. If you are an avid listener of bands like Pink Floyd or Muse you will really enjoy these, they sound incredible for their songs. But for songs with lots of high notes the X2 falls short of the 599
I have this, and I'm keeping it. Might allow my kid to borrow it for gaming, but its mine. Headband, is very very comfy. I see this at 150 in the past few months, no regrets
As someone who has mild tinnitus from high frequency sounds, I need either a dark or warm headphone so since I already have the HD6XX for the dark side, I picked these up for the warmer side. Unfortunately for gaming sessions, the HD6XX clamp force gives me a headache without failure if I use them for more than 2 hours. Edit: Just received mine and right off the bat I am extremely pleased in the sound presentation of these cans. They are definitely warm, but still have a lot of the details you would expect from the SHP9500 with the smoothness of Sennheiser house sound. In comparison to my HD6XX they are less intimate, but I would say they are equally detailed with the X2HR being slightly better in audio positioning due to the wider sound stage. I really look forward to using these as my daily drivers for now on!
@@Wadacup To my ears, I perceive them as being roughly similar in overall detail level. I would however, say that the nature in which the details are delivered (in the sound stage) is quite different. The HD6XX are more intimate which makes the details appear more forward and in front of you especially voices. On other hand the X2HR will resolve the same details at roughly the same clarity, but you will hear the details further away from you. I would say that the X2HR have an advantage in music or where the tracks within the audio are well separated, allowing their soundstage to really shine while the HD6XX has an advantage in music that is energetic and dynamic where it's intimate nature can shine. In the end they're very comparable in terms of performance so I would consider them to be a side grade to each other as I see them as equal performing, just with very different characteristics.
@@endlessdrive8421 that's honestly one of the very best takes I've read about these headphones. Thanks for the reply! Really appreciate it. Enjoy your music and may you be blessed with good vibes
@@Wadacup You're absolutely welcome, hopefully my experience has provided some useful information and context. You can't go wrong with either of them so which ever one you choose, I'm sure you will be happy. Enjoy your music too and I wish the best vibes as well!
@@ee1yd when it's going to come out? Should I wait to get the X3 or get the x2 for $115. Also, do you know if this is a good upgrade from a Sennheiser Game One?
Philips Fidelio X2HR or HD599 for music (electro, Rock, Metal) + gaming? So hard to decide. Also can I somehow test if I received a copy produced by gibson with glued pads?
My test was the 1969, studio recording "in the ghetto" alt take. With the x2hr, elvis presley's warm tone, like a fine Bordeaux wine, was LITERALLY in the room with me. Any headphones that bring the king back to life, are keepers in my book.
You make a good point about its sought of the region you get to before going to the stuffy Audiophile category. Infact I tried a pair of Senhieser models and actually preferred these because they had more bass . These were way more enjoyable. ( fun ) if you will .
I LOVE the X2 (and the Shp). Two excellent headphones, and different enough to own both. But God damn, the X2 are sooooo good. I listen to music, I don't listen to see if I can hear the bassist clearing his throat far in the distant background on some 24-bit audio file. I don't need that level of "clarity", these are plenty detailed.
These have been my sole headphones for 2 years now. Be advised that the metal finish on the cups oxydizes over time. Other than that, for the price, these are the best all-around headphones you can get for ~200$.
Dude, WTF....this was an absolutely TOP review. Any (headphone) review couldn't be clearer then this. It's really helpfull that is short and quick, because I don't want to lose interest listening to stuff that doesn't matter and start skipping (and thus missing) through the vid. But even better is how you make the comparison to a lot of other heaphones, in such short time. Because when I listen to a headphone that sounds good, the bass, mids, soundstage and almost everything you can think of, doesn't tell me that much anymore, because my experience is allready good. But how is it in comparison to the other 'better' headphones? And you nailed it.
I'm not in the market for this type of audio equipment, but I just came here to leave a thumbs up to help this channel grow. Excellent reviews. Helped me pull the plug on Ducky One 2 Mini.
I have to agree, you are the reason why I pulled the trigger. Thanks for the very detailed, informative and very well put together review. You've also got me subscribing now too! Keep up the great work!
I'm using these with a Rode NT-Mini USB stand alone mic. The NT-Mini has a very capable little headphone amp in it and you get the benefit of monitoring your own voice - albeit not really needed with openback headphones as much. With the NT-Mini amp at 50% and Windows at 100% it's as loud as I can comfortably stand. But yeah, love em!
Listening on my X2HR's right now! Love these to death and the sound is still great even after a year of abuse. And I pretty much use my headphones every day.
Damn it. Sold my X2 a while back and have Beyer Tygr now. Combination of watching this video again and Amazon’s £99 price right now means my headphone collection expands again!!!
I cannot decide which headphones to get. I spent a week researching and these hit all my check marks incl. Great for single player games, bassy, compatible with consoles, i'd be able to make them wireless with FiiO BTR3, gone down so much in price lately that I will probably be able to get them for 100 pounds on Black Friday. However, there seem to be as many people that love them as there are hating them and I'm just lost. I've gone through looking at reviews of stuff like Beyer DT's (770/880/990), AKG K712 Pro as well as other AKGs, Sennheiser HD600/650/6XX + HD598 and I really do not know what to get.
Great review as always, but I gotta stop watching these... Since I subbed to your channel I already have 58x, GameOnes, HD6XX, and AKG 7xx. How does these compare to AKG 7xx and Game ones purely for gaming? not just FPS but General Gaming?
Just noticed your comment and that's been what's bugging me. I want to know what most of these sound like on a variety of genres, not just shooters. Like, how does it sound on Civilization 6, Stellaris, Age of Empires, WoW. ETC. Need more information lol.
Great headphones! Blow many, many, many away! The only problem is getting lint on the pads (lint brush can solve that problem). They should of used the same pad material as the SHP9500. I like that material. It is more like a bluejeans type of texture and less prone to lint. I have both styles. .
I got these recently and I adore them. So pleasant to listen to music with, and super comfortable. My only complaint is that the cable is a bit too long.
Coming here after purchasing a pair to confirm that I made a good purchase lol. I have been looking around for a good pair of headphones that wouldn’t break the bank for awhile but checking a review website led me to changing my mind like 3 times in the past 24 hours. Long story short, I just heard about these headphones today and decided to check some prices on them and was VERY lucky to find an Amazon Refurbished set for about half the price as they usually cost, only one left in stock. I was very leery because it seemed too good to be true. But after reading customer reviews, nearly all of them raving over how great these headphones sounded, and seeing one that said, “Don’t let the fact that these are refurb steer you away, mine came in looking practically new,” I decided to throw caution with the wind and purchase them. I won’t know until they get here on Monday, but I’m guessing I got a heck of a deal and I’m so stoked. Especially after hearing this review. Can’t wait to try some music and games with them!
hello, congratulations on your channel, before buying something always go through this channel before deciding. but i would like to ask a question, i have a sennheiser gsp500 with a gsx1000, in relation to philips x2hr is it worth it or im fine with gsp? thank you and continued good work
im just buying these for movies and single players games. most of the expensive audiophiles focus more on like mixing or whatever but these headphones really is for immersive experience
I didnt really catch this versus the k7xx. How do they compare? I also need an amp and a dac prefferebly in one unit. What should i go with. My budget for the amp and dac is around 150$. Good review!
These are pretty much the opposite of the K7's. The X2 has a deeper, boomier sound to the K7's clean and crisp sound. The X2 has much better build quality. The X2 is also super easy to drive. However I personally enjoy the sound of the K7's over the X2's.
Does anyone know if this is a good upgrade from a Sennheiser Game One? I use it most for gaming but I like a good quality sound specially the bass. I also got the Sennheiser GSX1000 dac. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Great detailed review for these headphones . Love the sound of these like speakers on your head . My one knock against them , I would NEVER want to be seen wearing them outside .
Pc gamer here Just picked these up and have them hooked up to the schiit modi 3+ and magni heresy and all I can say is wow these blow my sennheiser gsp 350,s out of the water definatly recommend them hands down
Zowie s2 or model o-?? I use a lot the side buttons and scroll wheel, and I would like s2 was lighter, but the scrool wheel from s2 is not that good and i want a light mouse, so what I peak?
I missed the openness provided by my razer headset when I got Sony xm3s where the sound felt small and flat, so I'm getting this along with a FiiO BTR5 to make it wireless. Paying full price so hopefully it doesn't disappoint.
For anyone looking at this new, just be warned about build quality. I had these slip off my desk one time and it snapped the plastic headband. For comfort I also think they could clamp tighter since they're so heavy, but overall it's great anyway. Just be careful with these, they are definitely not built like a truck. I will say these are by far my favorite movie/casual gaming headphone. I bought them for fun, but I just wish the plastic band was stronger
I have just ordered these, have to wait 14 days though as they are out of stock. I have been using DT 990 Pro's for a few years, but i have got fed up keep replacing the ear pads. Great review btw. i have just subbed too :)
Hello. Just to watch and enjoy good sound of movies by connecting the headphones to a TV, without using an amplifier. Between the Sennheiser HD 599 and the Philips Fidelio X2HR. Which ones do you recommend? Or maybe you recommend others better for that purpose with that price range. Thank you. All the best.
My hifiman ananda shat it self and theres a sealed one on market place near me, not sure about how different it will sound considering ill be using an AMP/DAC
I have these, fantastic in every way possible that you described... unfortunately I'm trying to decide on a DAC/AMP with built in mic support, like the Schiit Fulla/Hel, the Mayflower ARC MkII, or that little Syba Sonic dealio reviewed by Zeos.... another unfortunate is that my desktops built in DAC/AMP is pretty high end for a built in system...I run a Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 with the ESS ES9018 Sabre DAC (same as in the Sennheiser Orpheus) , Nichicon caps, and Realtek ALC1220 amp... before dumping Hel or Arc MkII prices I wonder if anyone knows if I'd get a noticable sound improvement and actual volume improvement from one of the above... because the built in goodies sound great with the X2HR'S, I'd just like a bit more volume and still use my V-Moda Boom Pro mic.
Man these look so comfortable and I love the specs, especially the 30 ohms (perfect for use with a Fiio BTR1k), but mid range open-backs are such a gamble. People love to justify their Senny HD 5XX purchases saying they're "clean" or "accurate" but every open back pair I've tried in the $100-200 range just sounds so lifeless. I just can't seem to find a single one at that price that gives you that uber-musical open back sound that I know is possible from $300 pairs. If someone was asking me for a recommendation for mid-range cans I'd lean towards closed-backs every time, especially if they wanted to use them for gaming. If they also need low impedance I'd say DT 770 Pros hands down.
Would these perform better with a dedicated soundcard or headphone amp? I will be using for casual music and gaming and would want to get the most out of them. maybe the GSX 1000 or similar paired?
I want to do the same but was a little concerned that it would be a bit difficult as a headset and that there could be constant feedback because the headphones are open and the microphone is omnidirectional/sensitive. Or couldn't you really notice something like that? Is the headset still comfortable after playing for several hours? Some people said that the contact pressure is too strong. Thanks ;)
@@Pro-Bert I've only had it for a day but I can say it is actually very comfortable after a long session, I played for 4hrs straight without taking it off with no issue. The clamp or force in which it grips your ears is definitely tight but I don't have an issue with it personally. The vmoda mic is great as well, my friends noticed my voice input was enhanced even before I mentioned I had made a change. The only thing is they arent really as loud through my phone for music as I had hoped, but it is great for gaming. I think my audiotechnica ad-ath700x are better for directional hearing but it has no mic plug-in feature, you would have to modify it. So all in all I like them, but I'm going to purchase a schiit amp/dac to enhance sound volume and bass even more.
@@Pro-Bert quick edit: I'm so dumb, I literally had accidentally spun the volume dial down while playing I guess, it was on Like 70%. It's definitely loud enough
It's 2021 and I was originally considering the SHP9500 for simple post-processing and EQing of voice over recordings, casual music listening, and FPS games. Seeing some of the newer opinions of the not that good of a soundstage and imaging the the SHP9500, I started looking at the X2HR. Which one would you recommend in my situation? As addtl info, I currently have KZ ZS10Pro IEMs and I really like the V-shaped FR too much that I even use Equalizer APO to further expand the shape when listening to music and playing games only.
I’m very heavily contemplating getting these. I mainly play cod and rocket league. Would these still be recommended for COD especially? I’ve never had open back headphones
Honestly, you're the reason I bought these. I managed to find one from the Amazon Warehouse or whatever they call their open box stuff for like $75. Nothing wrong with them except the box had small damage on the corner. Easily the best Headphones I've had

awesome. which genre of songs did you think the x2hr shined the best?
Beast of a headphone. Absolute "shut up and take my money" piece.
I use mine with a Fiio BTR3K connected with a small 3.5 cable, attached the BTR3K to the headband. Practical and awesome sound.
I love my X2's, I will never get rid of em.

Got the X2s and Akg k712s for $400 in total and i gotta say that wss the best money i have ever spent. Both still going strong today.
I got rid of my x2 and kept the k712 and k7xx...the k7xx is like the best of the x2 and k712 imo. Gota have a good amp for akg tho. Cheers
The x2s imo are marginally worse at everything compared to the akgs but I like the way they look so I kept them. Haven't tried the k7xx as yet since I opted to try the monoprice m1060 everyone raved about. The amp/dac i use is the Mayflower arc.
@@sydbailey1320 Yeah I love the look of the X2's also...might get another pair to modify! Now they are so cheap on amazon. Cheers
I have the x2hr's and I agree with badseed. These are my least expensive of 5 headphones and I like them overall the most. They're absolutely incredible with the sennheiser gsx1000 for gaming.
This is my setup.
Which other headphones do you have?
Bought the headphone mostly because of this video. It was damn worth it. Just watched interstallar again with the headphones on. It was like sitting in the cinema back in the days. Worth every penny. Playing the piano is also fantastic with these headphones. The open back design gives like an atmospheric sound, like the sound is not even coming from the headphones, but the piano itself. The comfort is also flawless to me. Used these for like 4-5 hours straight without any discomfort. Even in 30 deg. celsius my ears don't get warm at all because the open back design. Thanks for the recommendation. Subscribed!
Hi, Quick question if I may... You plugged them directly on your tv to watch Interstellar ?
@@MisterBeRight I watched it on my computer.
@@zoltanseres1318 OK thanks. I was just asking because I didnt know if without a DAC/Amp we could get an amazing sound...
I really love your description of the sound, especially 'syrupy' and 'ethereal', such a compliment to the set itself. Great review!
Going for £104 on Amazon at the moment! Absolute steal.
Just ordered them last night, they’re on sale on Amazon they’ve gone from €202 or £175 to £105.99 for Black Friday or €121 which is around a $140, can’t wait
Paired with the Schiit Magni 3+... an amp with clean +30db headroom over 85db average level for transients... perfection
Let me address your concerns to the best of my ability:
- I don't have any feedback on Discord, but I use a Quadcast as my mic.
@@Ohmnity yes, thank you 🙂
And here we are in 2023. I’ve had these headphones for quite a few years now and needed new pads. I bought a new replacement X2 yesterday for £68.30 in the Prime sale. Not massively more than decent pads.
This headphone is great and I didn’t hesitate.
The headphone that I've been using the most since I got it! Awesome review and it lines up exactly with my opinions as well :D
It is one of those must buy headphones even if you have headphones that are expensive as hell. Good to keep in your collection!
Definitely gonna try and pick one of these up on black friday. I'm enjoying my SHP9500's so much and can't wait to experience these.
Pros:
~Super fun headphones to listen to.
~Wide sound stage
~buttery smooth bass to my ears.
~insanely comfy, wear them for literally 12 hours at a time and forget they're on (I'm 6' with avg sized head)
~great for movies/single player gaming
~no amp/dac required
~easily found under 200 bucks now
~3.5mm removable jack, easy to hook up a mic
~durable, well-built
Cons:
~Not great imaging for gaming. But in games like Overwatch with built in Dolby Atmos ingame, still work well enough just not as good as the audio technica ADH500's i've tried. Still like the X2's more for gaming. But for serious FPS competitive focus only, there are better options.
~Open back dynamics, so none of that super low sub-bass rumble u can find in closed backs (personal taste, I've found not having sub-bass makes them less fatiguing during long gaming sessions)
~After listening for a while and hearing audiophiles talk about them, Mids do sound a little recessed
~prolly gonna be bad for studio monitoring/mixing music
Been here since 12k subs and I gotta say that your content is evolving in amazing ways with the quality improving week after week. Good shit dude👍
Just ordered the 9500 after seeing your review, and will most likely buy these in the future. Thanks for the upfront no BS review!

Definitely, don't know of anyone else that comes close that doesn't just do one category of products.
DanMan right!!
Damn, you sold me on these. This will be my first good quality pair of headphones. Phenomenal video and thanks for helping me decide which headphones to pick up.
How was it?
*Wanted to dip my toes in having better audio on my pc, thanks to you this is part #1 with a Schiit stack in the coming months*

I could completely be wrong but instead of sounding like the mic is picking up the headphones bleed, it just sounds like a cheap mic from the beginning
I bought a pair and I love them. Also listening to your intro song through the X2HR made my brain tingle.
Brian thanks for the review, happy to see you enjoyed them. :)
You nailed it, solid build, smooth, warm, good bass.. just a really fun headphone.
Sold! I bought the 58x but the clamping force is crazy. I wear glasses when gaming alot. Love your reviews and the intro! Can't wait to get these in the mail.
I've had them for two weeks now, using them daily for 1+ hrs and they're just now stopping to force hard on my glasses (as expected from foam pads).
@@urfavoritehumanbean879 thanks for letting me know. I was wondering if they would stop clamping on my glasses. Clamping is bearable for 2 hrs though. Way better than sennheiser
How is gaming with the x2hr’s. Are footsteps easy to pickup?
Got these for 95 at a pawn shop, very good steal, barely if not used at all. Love them.
These are on sale black friday in the uk on amazon £105 if anyone was looking to buy these
Just got a pair of these today, on a monthly plan they are a solid purchase.
@@iwillz5368 I bought the 599's last big sale, absolutely wonderful comfort and sound wise, I'm tempted to grab the Phillips now
@@FieryHellzGaming I'm tempted to send my hd599's back and get the fidelio as I want to have a mic, desktop mics pick up too many vibrations from my keyboard
Thanks for the comparison! How would you further compare them to the 6xx's? Especially the detail level.

Philips Fidelio X2HR or HD599 for music (electro, Rock, Metal) + gaming? So hard to decide. Also can I somehow test if I received a copy produced by gibson with glued pads?
Seen a few of your rev's now. So real, to the point. Well done. Great editing. Just subbed. And I bought these babies. Appreciate the realness!
Thank you bro!
just bought these for £100, I didn't really need them but they were selling for a good price and my heart couldn't turn it down
I'm not in the market for this type of audio equipment, but I just came here to leave a thumbs up to help this channel grow. Excellent reviews. Helped me pull the plug on Ducky One 2 Mini.
I have to agree, you are the reason why I pulled the trigger. Thanks for the very detailed, informative and very well put together review. You've also got me subscribing now too! Keep up the great work!
Your Content is amazing! Just so u know, at 1440p your intro logo is a big fuzzy. Keep up the amazing work! Stay up!
Thanks! Oh, it is for sure. Thats my very first intro...almost 5 years old now.
Bought these off this review. Best Mid Range price head phones i have ever owned.
I don't know about those headphones, but THIS beard is the most good looking beard I ever seen 😀👍
To me it is pretty irritating.

Still rocking my good ol' Fidelio X1.
Can confirm. Your voice is sirupy.
hello, congratulations on your channel, before buying something always go through this channel before deciding. but i would like to ask a question, i have a sennheiser gsp500 with a gsx1000, in relation to philips x2hr is it worth it or im fine with gsp? thank you and continued good work
JDS atom or even my Schiit Magni 3 and then these?? *Noted.*
im just buying these for movies and single players games. most of the expensive audiophiles focus more on like mixing or whatever but these headphones really is for immersive experience
What headset do you still consider the best for gaming?
I think he said he likes the AKG 7xx best for gaming.
Love mine! Would using a Fiio K13 dongle out of iPhone 13 improve sound quality?
I didnt really catch this versus the k7xx. How do they compare?
I also need an amp and a dac prefferebly in one unit. What should i go with. My budget for the amp and dac is around 150$. Good review!
FiiO K5 PRO just came out. Might be on amazon soon.
Thanks.
Great review Bri. I own both but after this review I'll pull the X2's off the wall and hang up the SHP's today in honor of this review.
I just found your channel. I'm wading into the proper headphone game. I really appreciate your content man.
Great detailed review for these headphones . Love the sound of these like speakers on your head . My one knock against them , I would NEVER want to be seen wearing them outside .

Zowie s2 or model o-??
I use a lot the side buttons and scroll wheel, and I would like s2 was lighter, but the scrool wheel from s2 is not that good and i want a light mouse, so what I peak?
O-
I missed the openness provided by my razer headset when I got Sony xm3s where the sound felt small and flat, so I'm getting this along with a FiiO BTR5 to make it wireless. Paying full price so hopefully it doesn't disappoint.
Hey brian what amp/dac would you recommend with the Philip's x2hd?
It's 2023, and because of this review I finally bought these :D!
I have these and love them.. where do I go from here?? Do I go big amp? I’ve got a Schitt hel. Or do I keep my amp and what headphone do I get?
My hifiman ananda shat it self and theres a sealed one on market place near me, not sure about how different it will sound considering ill be using an AMP/DAC
Philips Fidelio X2HR bought it on Amazon for 120 Bucks :-) life is good^^
The review i was waiting for years!
Closed back for under 200$, I'd prefer the SV021.
2 years later reading this. Man I hope u got tomtry.the X2hr!! They are exactly what u described wanting lol
Would these perform better with a dedicated soundcard or headphone amp? I will be using for casual music and gaming and would want to get the most out of them. maybe the GSX 1000 or similar paired?
Great review! Getting these in 2022!
Just bought these for $115 and the VModa Boom mic for 35 on Amazon, can't believe I'm getting the top of the line gaming headset on the market
Very pumped to see Fidelio X2 and DT-1990 Pro comparison review.
I use the Beyerdynamic DT990 and tbh they are just ok once you get used to the sound (they sound great at first)
I’m very heavily contemplating getting these. I mainly play cod and rocket league. Would these still be recommended for COD especially? I’ve never had open back headphones
