I have genuinely never been more interested in a character's backstory than Chetney's. It's such a fucking bizarre thing. I'm desperate to find out who or what the fuck Oltgar is.
I've noticed Liam is really good at putting detail in the background of other big moments, particularly humour. Nothing will ever beat Caleb peacefully reading a book saying "Ah dat's interesting" as Jester and Nott run for their lives screaming after trying to graffiti a temple and with the entire city guard starting to bear down on them.
The funniest part is Oryn noticing the shift of the place after the name of Oltgar was uttered, and now he felt he was ready to get inside of a battle which he didn't have any idea about it LOL.
I am loving the thoughtless crotchety-ness that is Chetney. 2:00 Him having a pleasant conversation and complementing the toymaker, then just giving a rude "Hold this." as an aside to Orym.
"And he betrayed that VERY CRAFT" 6:10 God I love this, these are the lines that really bring out the VA abilities in the cast, their choices in seasoning their dialogue are pure gold X'D

Oltgar either turned to cheap, low quality toys, or mass murder. There is *_no_* middle ground. EDIT: Like *_really_* cheap, mass-produced stuff *shudder
I really feel that Travis/Chetney has a bit more limelight this campaign and I’m loving it. He plays the character so well. Also, Chet’s wolf form is amazing.
I can only hope that eventually they have to do battle with Oltgar and he looks like a round jolly old man with a long white beard wearing a red hat and robe, but his face betrays his vileness and there's evil in his eyes and his sneer.
i wanna know what made Chetney so murderous, because it doesnt seem like Travis' useual shenanigans it seems like chetney really does want to kill a lot of the people he runs into. obviously some of it is travis goofing around, but chetney is still pretty bloodthirsty. Is it the Lycan part of him? Is it his affiliation with Ultgar? Is Ultgar the reason for the lycanism? How does Ultgar have a mass hatred within the Toy Maker tradespeople? Chetneys Backstory is easily the most intruiging and i cant wait to see more.
He said that Ultgar betrayed the very craft of Wood working. I'm hoping it's something dumb like Ultgar became a blacksmith and the wood workers felt betrayed. Although maybe Ultgar is a necromancer and rose the dead to do his work for him.
Original Monster manual tells that Lycanthropes who embrace their bestial nature are might change as a person and even "succumb to bloodlust, becoming evil, opportunistic creatures that prey on the weak". So Chetney's violent tendencies migth be caused by that.
I thought this was about to be a Quentin Tarantino style knife fight. Just blood spraying all over the place, a bunch of dwarves wearing domino masks and suits wielding mallets and chisels show up, and a ninja wielding a katana gets eviscerated with a whittling knife.
I just can't with Travis this season. I have no idea what the fuck is going on, but finding out is going to be amazing. His "Oh, and I so wanted to leave" has such intimidating vibes to it

Aw, I'm gonna cry thank you so much! I may not have a lot of editing tricks but I try. I do try to make the subtitles as detailed as possible to allow everyone to enjoy the videos so that means a lot to me. Thank you!
Let me add to that, that the close ups really make the difference for me often I listen more to CR than actually watching it, and hence miss a lot of the background stuff. Thank you.
Man been listening to these at work via podcast form and miss out on so much of the imagery with their acting. Looking forward to upcoming layoffs to start watching them again :D
You think maybe Ultgar assigned Chet to make a toy(bomb) for a job, and instead of the intended mark,, it ended up being picked up by a child? Or maybe a child was caught in proximity (it is a toy after all) Like, "Here kid, take this toy home!" And the kids parents being the mark. It would be a truly abhorrent, Chaotic Evil way to carry through assassinations, if you couldn't get close any other way. That would drive a toy maker mad, I'm sure
These are nice. I keep wanting to get into watching the full episodes but I get going on them, get to a slightly boring(for me) part, I stop watching for a bit, and then lose track of where I am. maybe season 4 will be the season I finally manage to watch from beginning to end.
Spoilers for campaign 2**** Ok so the only thing I keep thinking about is that near the end of campaign two we find out that Mollys past life Lucian, said that he, a blood hunter, had come from Uthadern as well, so my question is was Lucian taken in by a similar guild for antique theft an recovery? Is it made up of these cover tradesman personas an did the house in with the wooden mantle with the sun an moon carved in it have something to do with blood hunters specifically?
The old lady casualy mentions she was taught by Ultgar but once Chutney mentions his name she immediately gets suspicious... please explain this to me, somebody.
She immediately gets suspicious because Oltgar is, as Chetney has told the party (specifically Orym here) "the worst" and a "fiend". Since she was also taught by Oltar we are meant to assume that Oltgar in some shape or form must have threatened the two of them. Based on both of their reactions to the other knowing Oltgar, it could be that there are spies across Exandria looking for other apprentices of Oltgar OR he was just bullshitting to make them scared. Chetney's mention of a "scorched earth campaign" would certainly indicate either possibility. This would explain why the old lady (and Chetney) get suspicious rather than confide in one another. Hope that helps!
@@navyblueprince it didn't. She openly said to strangers that he was her mentor. You wouldn't do that in hiding, you'd make up some other name and location.

@@navyblueprince thanks for trying. I do think it was a mistake and wonder what would of happened if one of the PCs said "oh, we have a friend who studied under him" idk thanks
For oltgar to betray the wood making craft one must ask what that is. Since it seems oltgar taught chet and the shop keeper wood working it seems that originally chet and oltgar and others made wooden furniture As stated by Travis early on. THEN he says he shifted to making toys. It also seems oltgar at some point did the same OR was the reason chet got into making wooden toys in the first place. So how do you betray the craft? Well for one we know Chetney specifically will not make any toy that uses any other materials but wood as stated when Robbie asked for a flying ship with brumstone? On the bottom so it floats. So oltgar so far based on evidence betrayed the craft by either switching to metal or stone. This actually mirrors the back story of chutney from the Christmas one shot where chutney was forced to make toys our of plastic and metal and make computer chips. However it is entirely possible that this is a front for what actually goes on. The toy makers could actually be as others have stated a secret group of thieves and assassin's. Hence chetneys class type. And that Chetneys whole story about oltgar while possibly true is simply half the story. Perhaps oltgar betrayed the very assassin's organization and took some with him hence Chetney saying he has spies again...spies = assassin's/rogues etc. All evidence so far suggests all wood toy makers are secretly assassin's.
