I had one of these. Had it serviced and calibrated by Icoms in Herne Bay. Sold it on ebay a few years ago. How stupid I was to do that. Wish I'd kept it !!!
I hear ya.... I am Kicking myself Hard daily for letting go of my trusty Icom R75 now I see for a decient one I have to shell out close to 600. bux. damn... I think I sold mine in April for 475. or so..
To be honest i dont really know , widest range i can get for that price ? Its been a long time since ive been on the air waves, the good ole CB days listening and talking to other countrys etc, ,dont want to talk just scour the air waves now tho
I would get 2 separate units. For frequencies above 30MHz I would get an Icom IC-R7000 for about £200 and for HF you have wide choice for your budget. I am partial to Icom rigs, so an R79/71 would be great and under your budget. If you wait long enough you should be able to get an Icom IC-R9000 or IC-8500 for £500. These 2 do it all.The Icom IC-R20 also covers all frequencies in a more compact unit. About £300.Good luck!
I bought mine in the early 90s and mine looks like new, just like that one.Price was $1699. with all the add ons.Great video,Steve.

I had one of those. Mine had an optional converter that allowed it to tune TV stations.
Excellent presentation! Thanks!

My backup memory battery needs replacing, can you tell me what battery to purchase ? I believe it needs to be rechargeable.
