It been a year since I moved to Seattle from the south and omg I am so happy. I have received countless promotions at my job and I feel so appreciated. Even in the rainy seasons it’s so beautiful and the grass and countless parks are a must. A lot of the community centers even host free farmers markets every Saturday, that says a lot. Also, you guys should check out Bob’s Corn maze next fall. Maybe we can meet up. So happy you and so glad black people are going to Seattle. Welcome neighbors!
My wife and I are moving to Seattle in August and was wondering about being black in Seattle, this was really helpful. Thank you for this! Maybe one day we can all grab a coffee!
@@TravelingWhileBlack1 Great thank you so much! If you get a chance please do a video on Bothell WA I believe it is 30 min outside Seattle. That is where we are planning on staying and were very curious on the black experience there. It would be much appreciated, if not thanks for reaching back out!
We will definitely try. We haven’t heard too much about Bothell, but that makes for a great episode 😊. Check out the “Being Black in Seattle” Facebook group too. It’s a good resource as well. 😊
Hi you two: I'm a 6th gen Seattlite with 2 gens nipping at my heels--my daughter and my grandson both live in the area thank God. I just wanted to let you know I'm a new subscriber and I really enjoyed this video. I've watched two more episodes just because I liked this one so much. Welcome and happy 2nd anniversary!! As an old fart, I have to say, having young people fall in love with the city I've been in love with for nearly 70 years warms my heart and puts a big, big smile on my face. Thank you, kids. Thank you and once again, I really enjoyed this and the other vids you've posted. Your energies are contagious and so welcome. Just as I welcome you two to Seattle (a bit belatedly), I am glad you are welcoming with open arms new residents to our beautiful city. It is a great place to share, isn't it? Please keep your videos coming. Let's tell those considering a move here how fun, joyful, beautiful, inclusive, and full of opportunities our city is. Your idea of helping others to comfortably visit or move here is a great idea and a great service to them and to our city. Keep smiling and laughing and putting out that genuine energy about Seattle and about life here and life in general. Thanks again.......
@@TravelingWhileBlack1 I didn’t know what to do with myself but after I seen all of the hood career opportunities up there plus I like the rainy weather and there’s so much stuff to do when dr. Dre say it’s a rap it’s a rap next year it’s it for me I love Seattle
Are you all still loving Seattle ? My husband and I are soon to be empty nesters and would like to get out of the South. Specifically Sc! Do you still like it and recommend?
Happy 2nd relocation anniversary. Good to hear that the move has been a positive one. Sincerely hope that continues to be the case. I concur with 3 out of 5 of your reasons. I'm not a dog person -- nor a big sports enthusiast.
I’m sooooo glad I came across a page that was positive and the positive comments! I will be relocating with my 14 yr old in November for work and I’m beyond excited. Considering the Bellevue area ❤❤❤❤
Happy early welcome to the area! Bellevue is nice! We almost moved there when we relocated. It’s not the most diverse, but still a nice area. 😊 feel free to reach out if you have any other questions- travelingwhileblackseattle@gmail.com
Thank you for amazing content and congratulations on 2 year Seattle anniversary. My 6 year old son and I are moving to the Seattle area this August after I drop my eldest son off in Arkansas for college. I have always wanted to move to Washington state for such a long time. I am too looking for a diverse, safe and quiet area to move to where the school district is fairly decent. My 6 year old son is autistic and hoping I can find a great affordable environment for him. Thank you again.
Yes the wife is absolutely gorgeous. I envy the husband, but it's all love. Truly admire and respect what they're trying to do in making Seattle more Black, it honestly reminds me of myself being a baseball fan (i.e. giving up on either is counter-productive in attempting to support either one gain more Blacks [Seattle residents, MLB fans/players]).
Love your channel! Been subscribed for a year or so now. Hope you eventually make it down to my neighborhood in Seattle, South Park. Lots of really great food within a pretty small area.
I am black and use to live in the Seattle area. It’s an overall nice city but my reasons NOT to live there is Cost of living Crime Earthquakes and gloomy weather daily.
Seattle and San Francisco are the best cities west of the Mississippi. If I were ever gonna do the West Coast, it'd be between these two cities- - Seattle just needs to get the SuperSonics back!! Huge drawback if you're a hoops fan..
We are moving there in August. We are thinking Capitol Hill. Is that a good area? What’s your top areas we from STL too!(Where are the most black or diverse areas)
Hi!! Love that you’re from STL!! Have you come visit yet? Cap Hill is cool and fun… it’s changed a little since the pandemic in regards to safety. We still love the area though. North Beacon Hill is diverse, Columbia City is diverse… outside of Seattle - Renton is pretty diverse. If the bridge is repaired sooner than later, West Seattle is cool. But, the even the “blackest” area is going to be as black as Maryland Heights or Bridgeton lol.
@@TravelingWhileBlack1 Rainier Valley may be the most diverse area. A few years ago, it was the most diverse area of it's size in the world, with over 150+ people groups and languages spoken.
We would have to defer to some of our audience (we will put a poll out on our social channels to find out). But in our limited opinion it seems that St Louis had a more vibrant live music scene than Seattle. But again we will ask our followers and let you know.
@@waltersmith3267These people don't know what they're talking about is why they say" we will defer"... There are very few black people here. Many homeless and gone from our gentrified ex neighborhood. Do not move here if you want black neighbors. Seattle is overrun with homeless drug addicts. Everyone has a dog because people here are more antisocial than anywhere in the country. I don't where these people live, but I've never seen them... Whatever great area they live in. I can assure you at 50 yrs old and lived here my entire life. It isn't anywhere I've been.

I visited there a few years ago. I LOVED IT!! The aquarium there was BORING though
Loll we are glad you had a good time (besides the aquarium lol)!
Except the aquarium is getting a major remodel and expansion right now. It will be MUCH better.
