I own jumping spiders, they’re one of the smartest to compared any other spider out there and I wouldn’t doubt they have some sort of dreaming built in to improve their reflexes or something

I don't own jumping spiders, but I have a large screened in balcony and a bunch of jumping spiders live on the screen (inside and out) because they're small enough as babies to freely pass through. I love watching them, they eat the tiny flies that can fit through the screen, and my cat keeps the spider population in check (at least the ones that venture off the screen and onto the ground). The craziest thing to watch is when a larger jumping spiders tries to sneak up on a smaller one, then the smaller one notices and the chase is on. They do this crazy rappelling move to get away from the other spider, where they'll stick a web anchor onto the screen then jump away from the screen as far as they can and the web causes them to swing down to a lower point. It's like some real life Spiderman action!

I wanted a pet jumping spider and lucky me a jumping spider made one of my san pedro cacti's it's home. They're super cool. Dude lived on there for a good 8 months or so. He even stayed on there at times when I had to bring my cacti inside due to too much rain.

This actually raises even more interesting questions beyond what they're dreaming about and how it works, because of how insects and arachnids sleep; they don't. Instead, they enter a sort of "resting state" called torpor, where their body functions drop to very low levels, allowing them to save and regain energy. This is why you can sometimes find flies sitting around doing nothing, barely even moving when you get close. However, with the implication that jumping spiders can enter a sort of REM cycle state, this implies they can properly sleep, unlike most of their distant cousins. Of course, it wouldn't be the only thing that makes them appear smarter, as jumping spiders (in particular, Portia Fimbriata - "Fringed Jumping Spider") can learn and adapt with trial and error and identify the full shape of something with similar methods our brain uses to "model" a 3D object, using this information to find longer but more efficient routes to prey and avoiding attacking another spider head-on. There's still a lot to learn, judging by this new information about Jumpers (even juvenile ones) being able to dream.

When I was little that I used to catches Daddy’s long legs spiders. When I got old that I seen a bigger spider at work once. My co-worker was afraid of the spider. I did gently sweep the spider on my hand and covered it with my other hand. I walked to a door that was closer and let the spider outside. I even saw a wood spider that came inside of my apartment one summer. I didn’t jumped at it. I gave it a friendly greeting. Of course that I gently took it outside. I’m very strange on spiders. They don’t bugged me at all.

Absolutely hate people who squash bugs for no reason!!! Imagine if someones first instinct when they saw a bird was to shoot it! Most spiders cannot harm you, even the ones that can dont want to. Venom is difficult to produce, and they dont want to waste it. Not to mention that biting you means dramatically increases their risk of being killed!
Leave spiders alone! They eat the bad bugs and keep your living area clean! If you need to relocate them, just do the cup and paper method and release them outside. Its much easier than killing them too, and the spider gets to keep living a happy little spider life :)

I use to dislike Spiders when I was in High School, I use to exterminate them until one day I found myself in a dark closet, I had abit of a mental breakdown and then I noticed a Spider in the top corner, maybe it was the depression but it finally dawned on me, why was I ever afraid of them? People always screamed when they existed and I never once put two and two together.. they're kinda like me, they get treated differently due to the way they look.. but deep down, they're not malicious. Cept for Brown Recluse & Black Widows... since then, I loved Spiders! I'll move them to an empty window sill, closets, anywhere which has a closer area to life for a food source.
