I own jumping spiders, they’re one of the smartest to compared any other spider out there and I wouldn’t doubt they have some sort of dreaming built in to improve their reflexes or something
I don't own jumping spiders, but I have a large screened in balcony and a bunch of jumping spiders live on the screen (inside and out) because they're small enough as babies to freely pass through. I love watching them, they eat the tiny flies that can fit through the screen, and my cat keeps the spider population in check (at least the ones that venture off the screen and onto the ground). The craziest thing to watch is when a larger jumping spiders tries to sneak up on a smaller one, then the smaller one notices and the chase is on. They do this crazy rappelling move to get away from the other spider, where they'll stick a web anchor onto the screen then jump away from the screen as far as they can and the web causes them to swing down to a lower point. It's like some real life Spiderman action!
I wanted a pet jumping spider and lucky me a jumping spider made one of my san pedro cacti's it's home. They're super cool. Dude lived on there for a good 8 months or so. He even stayed on there at times when I had to bring my cacti inside due to too much rain.
I had a large jumping spider, he was intelligent for such a small creature. He ambushed his prey, tried to work out the best way to get to the prey. They only live for about a year, mine made 16 months, gutted when he went, they have loads of character. RIP Arachno 🙏
This actually raises even more interesting questions beyond what they're dreaming about and how it works, because of how insects and arachnids sleep; they don't. Instead, they enter a sort of "resting state" called torpor, where their body functions drop to very low levels, allowing them to save and regain energy. This is why you can sometimes find flies sitting around doing nothing, barely even moving when you get close. However, with the implication that jumping spiders can enter a sort of REM cycle state, this implies they can properly sleep, unlike most of their distant cousins. Of course, it wouldn't be the only thing that makes them appear smarter, as jumping spiders (in particular, Portia Fimbriata - "Fringed Jumping Spider") can learn and adapt with trial and error and identify the full shape of something with similar methods our brain uses to "model" a 3D object, using this information to find longer but more efficient routes to prey and avoiding attacking another spider head-on. There's still a lot to learn, judging by this new information about Jumpers (even juvenile ones) being able to dream.

@John Grigg dude, your home is overrun by bugs, just ones with 8 legs
There's nothing cute about the spiders here in Australia
@@gangsterspunchbobcumlack5321 the point isn’t about how cute a spider is. It’s about the fact that they have lives just like we do, and they deserve to live them.
I can probably tolerate having that as a pet
My brain: haha...no, go get the slippers before it multiplies
I have bad dreams too. Of spiders!!!
All depends which kind
@@Pete-the-Kat the alive kind!
Poor little guys, someone wake them from that horrible nightmare
I wonder if they have Nightmares about humans killing them.
Not if I kill them before they can dream
Oooh thats deep. 🤔🤔🤔
The giant boot of doom!
I wonder if they tell each generation stories like we do lol and then, bam! Splat! It was curtains for poor jimmy…
@@briannaburke2572 good one.
Humans killing spiders is like cats hunting for fun.
If they have a brain it's highly likely that they dream
that's the fun part, Insects and spiders don't have what would be considered a brain, their nervous-system isn't centered in their head like in other animals.
Me: dreaming about being chased by a giant spider
Spider: dreaming about being chased by a giant human
No, please listen to me. I don't want to hurt you, I'm helping you fight mosquitoes. Nooooo! **Wakes up from nightmare meeting a human**
If I see a spider just chilling and it’s not in my way I’d just let it chill. Like who just kills and innocent spider.
The spider looks cute
I hate a lot of insects etc but I really don’t mind spiders… I let them roam around as long as they’re not huge. They kill other pests in your room too if they come across them and they just chill in the corner.
Now I know for sure that the weed I blew on so many spiders didn't go to waste, I just hope they had a nice rest and some good dreams after getting high.
That’s so cool! Normally, I’m scared of spiders, but this video was pretty cool! Nice video!
I have arachnophobia but spiders like these don’t scare me idk why. I find them cute tbh
omg sweet lil baby is having a dream, so precious 🥺🥺🥺🥺
I usually take them out with a glass and let them outside, if they're harmless why should I kill it
I wonder if he has bad dreams of being stepped on
he had a web dream
How do you know sussy baka lol
In their nightmares, spider's dream about being a fly caught in a spider web.
Spiders have bad dreams because of venom I guess
Not really surprised when I saw it was the Jumping Spider. The smartest one in the world. All intelligent organisms on this planet go through this.
This is so cute
I happen to really love spiders and I find this really interesting.
That is crazy
