    I really understand your reason for buying an iPad! I work in IT and am parked in front of a laptop all day. I end up not touching it after work. I do everything on my phone and iPad.

      It's strange the way our minds make these connections. They can feel like chains but the same associations can be used for our benefit as well. The rule just needs to be a hard rule. I don't shoot my concept art work projects because that's work and I don't want to tell my brain that it's the same thing as just painting for myself.

      I also work in IT and I work from home. At 3pm I turn off the laptop and won’t touch it until 7am the next day. All fun I do with my iPad.

    Burn out is the most horrible thing. I was there last year too marked with "severe burnout". I could do nothing but sleep in any possible position after I was forced to drop my work by my therapist. Sitting, standing, you name it... I didn't know how to continue and what to do with myself at all. Just a few days later that I got "diagnosed", my first art course started. It was something that pulled me out of the loop hole, sparkled brand new love for art and tremendously helped with my mental health but also confidence. I wanted to know more, I wanted to learn more and I still do. Even though it's 1.5 years later, I still want to know more. Thanks for speaking about this so openly 💜

    This is such great advice. Reframing art as a reward instead of extra work really reminds you of why you set out on this journey in the first place. Plus, creativity flows much more smoothly from a happy creator.
    Longshot, but what background music was used for this? It sounds so pleasant and peaceful 🙏

    This resets my perspective with my art routine. I’ll try to prioritize art and draw anywhere whenever i feel it.

    this hits different.. atm really struggling to find motivation to do the things i wanna do.. I really hope that i can find my creative drive again..
    also loved the words you shared at the end, very lovely view on art!

      I need motivation to work, to go to the gym to do all my taxes early. Everything unpleasant requires varying degrees of motivation. Making art is not on that list for me when it comes to pieces that I do just for myself.

    Life is Art.. Art is what brings a person's life MEANING and Individuality. Art= Music or any other thing that is uniquely YOU.
    I think that Covid was a boundary where people realized they NEEDED to find value in their lives for their lives to have meaning.
    I purchased an iPad for very similar reasons, so I can make art ANYWHERE I want to, while watching TV, camping, commutting

  • @Simon-et4hu

    Going to my closest family is a 90 minutes drive minimum. I also have 2 young daughters so the less long drives I make the saner everyone is. I bought an ipad pro to remove the fear of not having my stuff if I am somewhere else for a weekend. It worked! (I thought about it a long time before buying sometimes we have fake reasons).
    Now I see my family more often. I draw more and I don't have to give up my normal drawing habits for 2 days.

    • @angrymikko
      @angrymikko  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds like a win-win situation :) I also use the 2-day rule but mostly for my fitness goals.

      @@angrymikko that's a good thing! Giving your body the time to heal (but not too much) is probably very beneficial to the workout sessions themselves.
      For drawing making it the first thing every morning is usually best for me. It really affects the whole day.

    I feel like this a lot… it’s hard to feel motivated. I work full time. I have other hobbies . Two kids which one is a toddler. And I don’t get proper sleep because I don’t rely on daycare. Not an affordable option. But I still want to get back into it

    Love this video! I don't really have much time for art either, but like you I found that always bringing my iPad places has been really helpful. I even take it out of my bag at work and leave it close to me, to reduce the perceived effort of going a few extra steps to get it out from my locker when I do have a break. It makes such a difference in how much time I spend on art! It's really validating to hear you say something similar :)

    Thank you for this great motivation! Ive always thought that I needed to put aside alot of time before I can do art but I ended up not doing since I can’t find this much time due to my full time job. Now that I’ve become a mother, it is even harder to put aside large amount of time to do art. Thank you for reminding me that sometimes all we need is just that few minutes. Now I’m excited to go to my own “secret escape” whenever I can too☺️

    • @angrymikko
      @angrymikko  ปีที่แล้ว

      The prices were just crazy back when I got mine but now it’s possible to get one for quarter of the price of the latest models. One of the best artists I know has been using the first models for years and has never complained about it. I only found ot recently when he upgraded and I just happened to ask what the previous version was. In between that price range are the airs which have basically caught up with the ipadpros at this point. I understand this is all relative to anyone’s situation. For me all ipads are still pretty expensive.

    Thank you for the video! In my case, I usually end up disliking the art that I am currently able to make, it just looks nothing like the things that I wish it looked like because my skill level is just really not there yet. And right now, I don't even know what I enjoy drawing. It's so frustrating to draw one thing for weeks or months and then I just dislike it... and right now, I'm all out of ideas .-.

  • @lasoob
    @lasoob ปีที่แล้ว

    After around 8 years of basically not drawing at all (I'm a 3D artist for work) I've bought an Ipad literally to get back into drawing and so far it's working! Despite having a cintiq in my office that I could draw on, it would just feel like I'm still at work and didn't appeal to me at all but sitting on my sofa drawing feels completely different!

    • @angrymikko
      @angrymikko  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cintiq isn’t a bad working tool but for drawing and painting I couldn’t go back to the clunky rotations after gettin used to the way it works in procreate. This is partially photoshop’s fault too but it was always a photo editing program first so I guess I can’t blame them.

    Should I get the Ipad 2022 pro 12.9 inch or smaller or normal Ipad 2022. I want to be a good artist so I am deciding what to get the Ipad pro is expensive as same as a high end gaming laptop but I think maybe it is worth it being faster and maybe pencil 2 is better.

    • @angrymikko
      @angrymikko  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are no noticeable differences in the performance of the pencils. As a dedicated scatterbrain, it does make my life easier because the magnet makes it less likely to roll off inside a couch or wherever.
