Wow, it's actually clearing up. Of course it has to do more with gentrification of the area then help to the hopeless and homeless. Most of these people have been invited to go somewhere else. I've lived in LA all my life and this area used to be like another world and much larger and dense.
I drove around Oakland last week after not having been there in at least 5 years and the homeless situation seemed just on the other side of true anarchy and a problem that has become so all encompassing that it's not realistic to think about it as a true solvable problem much like the desire for world peace. I think closer to the truth is that the encampments will gradually drive out people that just want to get away from the reality of the problem and more and more property and real estate will be taken over and turned into encampments. Movies that highlight the decline of society in the future is happening real time in front of our collective eyes.
Look ask yourself the question..the wealthiest nation on earth that has spent trillions making war, supporting war, starting war has this problem. If you have had trillions to spend on nam, afghan,Iraq,Israel, Ukraine,Taiwan.. why can't you look after your own first.

Its everywhere and its a tradgedy for society, all that human capital wasted, on the alter of class society and the dogma of free markets etc. We all once lived in tribal societies, where we all looked out for one another. I've been to CA while in the Navy around 2005. Nothing like this. There are camps where I stay now, but this is a whole new level.

@@thepillow13-v2c while I think the drug problem in America is a SERIOUS problem and something needs to be done, I just don't think we should be getting rid of people that are "undesirable" "useless eaters". Study up on history and learn about Mao in china, the gulags in the USSR, the Nazi death camps and "manifest destiny" in the US. Literally millions of people who didn't do anything wrong were exterminated. As a man of faith I believe only God can judge. Maybe bring back the work requirments for welfare, so they can't just collect free money and do drugs all day.
