In my country G6 is $50 less than the S8. For the extra fifty bucks Samsung gives me more efficient processor, much better display, better audio, wireless charging (G6 doesn't have it outside US), Bluetooth 5, faster LTE, better camera, face/iris scanner, double the storage and probably a couple other things.
Same here loving the g6 so far coming from a lg v20. Didn't use the quad dac much but loved the removable battery. I can deal with a sealed one though since I have a few portable chargers on hand.
Kylie Jenner Kardashian yep one u keep a grip with the thumb near the power button (right) you realize your index is just beneath it. or or grip with the index near the power button button (lefties) then you end up realizing you just come across the camera and tap the sensor .
Kylie Jenner Kardashian I feel like most people are just mindlessly repeating what they heard from other people. The fingerprint scanner really isn't THAT bad, and its actually the fastest way to unlock your phone because you don't have to press the power button to make it work. It just "comes on" as soon as you touch it.
LG did a better job with its screen. I can't get down with that narrow ass screen on the Galaxy S8. Both phones are beautiful but the G6 give you more screen space.
brighter, edges ( controversial, but IMO make it look better), that nice super AMOLED panel with richer colors and true black that actually saves battery life, and I also prefer the aspect ratio of it.
BGuy The battery life on both devices are below average, but the G6 has the better battery performance of the two. The colors are nice and rich on the Galaxy S8, but with the phone being so narrow, I just can't get with it.
zaties boyd I was referring to the panel when talking about battery life. The black on the display tuens off the pixels, which actually makes it really a lot better. How narrow it is makes it a preference point. I'd be very comfortable with either aspect ratio, but the colors and edge display on the s8 just make it that much more attractive
G6 for me. Useable fingerprint sensor (a must) and not a gimmicky edge display. I think I prefer the design of the G6 too, but I have still not seen one IRL.
The reason the Galaxy S8's front camera is narrower is because of the EIS or software stabilizarion is being used on the Galaxy S8. The LG G6 doesn't have that ability on the front camera.
Hey Raime. You were in Portugal? Thats great i would love to meet you :). LG G6 Platinum owner here. By the way the best review of 2 phones i ever seen. Most channels cant see past the views they want to get and always lean on to the S8 wich is not the king of phones if there is one. I love LG because they push the envolope every year with new features that make the market move forward.
Hi Jaime, does your G6 have the crazy overexpose issue with the video recording? I have seen it on many reviews/comparisons on youtube, which is a bit concerning.
If you have T-Mobile like I do and were able to pick up a G6 for $500 with included Google Home, I dont think you could get a better buy. I looked at both phones and couldn't find a reason to justify the S8.
Stephanie Turro ehh.. I already have a Google home. So that deal didn't really entice me. But I did get a free Gear VR and gear vr content with my preorder though! and all the extra features are great too. You hear reviewers complaing about very petty things that honestly don't matter that much at all. I love my S8 plus.
Stephanie Turro on sprint I got it for $354 after 2 years. But then they had a deal for $200 for the s8 after 2 years. I had to switch, it was such a good deal. My whole family got an s8
So tired of people complaining about speakers, fingerprint sensor placement and battery life. If you want great audio use headphones. I have smaller hands and the S8 fingerprint sensor is totally fine for me. Lastly, if you work a normal job a few hours of screen on time is fine. IDK why people need 6 hours of screen on time a day. Both are amazing phones.
Đorđe Milosavljevic Then why does it look like that during only one part of the video, and the rest of the video it looks fine? Also, read the Galaxy S8's display review on DisplayMate. The Galaxy S8 does have an accurate screen, and whiter whites and deeper blacks than the Lg G6.
Đorđe Milosavljevic Also, he had the blue light filter cranked all the way up. It only looks yellowish when it turned halfway up. When the blue light filter is on all the way up, the screen becomes more redish. I'm doing it on my Note 5 right now and it's the exact same thing. My mom's Galaxy S8 does it too.
actually, this reddish screen issue was confirmed by Samsung. They're saying it's a software problem and going to be fixed with updates. Even different s8's screens look different. Some are more redish some are less.
I'll say that when I first saw the two phones online, I thought the Galaxy was better. But after using them both in person, I realized that the G6 is more well thought out with regards to ergonomics. That's a trade off for the SD 821 that I'd be willing to make.
If you get a G6 do yourself a favor and get either the Hong Kong dual sim version (which has english and no bloatware) or the Korean version (which has english as well). With the HiFi Dac it becomes no question that the G6 is better. And if you don't like the user interface, just use a theme. LG has a bunch of them and the good folks at XDA have a few premium ones for sale that do a good job of emulating the pixel or other devices.
Huh... now, this is interesting: the infamous red tint of the S8 display is only ever noticeable on the settings... when it is present at all. Anyway, excellent video. Best smartphones right now. I wish I could own both Y3Y
I used to have an s6 and I just got an s8+ and it's amazing with it's battery. I usually got through the school day with the s6 but then it died while the s8+ makes it to the end of a school day above 60%
They should replace the dumb Bixby button with a finger print scanner. Move the awkwardly placed finger print to the side. Then again, Idk tho probably not enough surface area.
I just sold my G5 and got an S8. No regrets. G6 didn't feel like a next generation phone for me, still had all the same software (bar camera) from the G5, same customization options. Just an upgrade in hardware, much needed wireless charging, water resistance and higher quality wide angle camera (I'll miss that). The S8 matched my needs more, smaller in the hands, more UI customization options built in, and more useful features for my convenience like edge panels.
There was always something that bothered me with the G6 and I finally discovered what it is, it's the grey bezels. It looks so off, black would have been a better choice. I'm pretty sure the other colours come with black bezels tho
when will you guy's end the reviews of the G6 and S8? So many different reviews on the same product on your channel. The specs changes automatically overnight?
The S8 I'm using to type this comment right now is my first Android phone. Now, I must say that the keyboard on this isn't nearly as good as the one on my L950, but everything else is. Now, the fingerprint sensor isn't even that bad, it's become custom to what I use to unlock the device, and it's really not as bad as people say.
Bom dia. There are pictures and videos from Lisbon. Props for that. Thank you for the video. I think I'll buy one for my mum and the other 1 for me, hehe. But here in Portugal we dont get the VR with the S8 as in the US. Keep up the good work
0:36 to 0:49 It's about time someone says. That statement is LONG overdue lol. Maybe now most of the stubborn android users will get off their imaginary high horse and taste reality. For the most most part, specs mean nothing. That whole "android has better specs" argument is irrelevant. Ps. I have nothing against android. It's only the android users that I have beef with.
hey Jaime can you tell me how you are using your phone? I'm a heavy user that games on it and watch 2 to 3 hours of TH-cam or twitch when I'm getting ready and doing other things and never came home with lower than 25percent battery
if "looks" also apply to screen, then the s8 definitely looks better. Also does better in using that wider screen, which could also count as looks right?
1:37 Incorrect Jaime, bland colors are usually not all that accurate and LG is a good example. It has a very cool bluish/greenish calibration that not only washes out the colors but also makes them pretty inaccurate. S8's panel shows more true to life colors than G6. both look stunning in the hand and feel so premium. The screen of the SGS8 and the processor are sure better and the Samsung Galaxy mobile cameras have always been the best in the market since the beginning of the launch of the S line even though LG here sports dual cams and with twice as much of built-in storage, sure the SGS8 is the clear winner for me with all due respect for other opinions.
the speaker on the s8 should be in the same location of the A series 2017... but i guess it dont have enough space on the sides because of the edge display
Still rocking my Note 4, and if I could update it past marshmallow (I have the unrootable At&t version, unfortunately), I would keep it for another year. At this point, I'm waiting for the Oneplus 5 & Pixel 2. The former will be rootable, and the latter will obviously get consistent updates. My current point of view is that software updates are what keep a phone fresh and interesting over the years, so that's my priority for my next phone.
FYI at T-Mobile the G6 is $500. That's 250 less than the S8!!!
Quan Luu and imo it's better even if it wasn't $250 bucks cheaper
Quan Luu at Sprint it's 50% off.
Agreed. My wife has G6 and I'm jealous of it.
Quan Luu LG doesn't have the option to make TH-cam videos fit screen
In my country G6 is $50 less than the S8. For the extra fifty bucks Samsung gives me more efficient processor, much better display, better audio, wireless charging (G6 doesn't have it outside US), Bluetooth 5, faster LTE, better camera, face/iris scanner, double the storage and probably a couple other things.
I picked up the LG G6 for $500 last weekend. No regrets at that price.
How bad is the front camera?
Same here loving the g6 so far coming from a lg v20. Didn't use the quad dac much but loved the removable battery. I can deal with a sealed one though since I have a few portable chargers on hand.
Vinayaka Pai Sorry haven't played with the camera much yet. Waiting for a trip next week to really dive into it.
Duane McCorkle I'm coming from the Nexus 6 believe it or not. The one thing I already know I miss is stereo front facing speakers.
Paolo De Los Reyes right I had one sometime ago and those front facing stereo speakers have yet to be matched.
Feeling so fly like G6. Like a G6, like a G6.
ayyy!
Love them both. Been wanting to see this comparison for a while. Great job as always Jaime.
Google should take note with their pixel 2
Oozette I hope you can actually get one.
D13H4RD2L1V3 lmao yeah I wanted the blue one but it's always gone
Been happening for a long while now. It's getting to the point where it's ridiculous
***** Google's experimenting with curved displays.
So it could be like the Galaxy but maybe much less pronounced like the Mate 9 Pro?
***** I don't mind them personally but I still think glass is a silly material choice for something that's being held all the time
LG..G6 looks far more practical in every day use.
I thought the galaxy s8s fingerprint scanner placement would suck but it's actually not that bad, I got used to it
Michael Do you Kardashians are all freaks so no surprise. :D
Kylie Jenner Kardashian yep one u keep a grip with the thumb near the power button (right) you realize your index is just beneath it.
or
or grip with the index near the power button button (lefties) then you end up realizing you just come across the camera and tap the sensor .
Kylie Jenner Kardashian same. I don't even even have ginormous hands and I got the plus variant.
Kylie Jenner Kardashian same here
Kylie Jenner Kardashian I feel like most people are just mindlessly repeating what they heard from other people.
Both phones are beautiful but the G6 give you more screen space.
it's not a very big difference though, I prefer the s8's screen by a couple of reasons
BGuy explain your reasons.
brighter, edges ( controversial, but IMO make it look better), that nice super AMOLED panel with richer colors and true black that actually saves battery life, and I also prefer the aspect ratio of it.
I really hope there's something like a "G6 Mini", with the same bezel less look, in 16:9 ratio.
I got a G6 the other day and I love it so far. Your reviews are comprehensive and well edited! Thank you
G6 for me. Useable fingerprint sensor (a must) and not a gimmicky edge display. I think I prefer the design of the G6 too, but I have still not seen one IRL.
My UK G6 has FINALLY received Oreo 8.0. So far so good
The reason the Galaxy S8's front camera is narrower is because of the EIS or software stabilizarion is being used on the Galaxy S8. The LG G6 doesn't have that ability on the front camera.
damn that panel looks red af
Betternet BLUE
FUCKING
FILTER
Betternet Thought I went color blinded
Hey Raime. You were in Portugal? Thats great i would love to meet you :). LG G6 Platinum owner here. By the way the best review of 2 phones i ever seen. Those AKG branded headphones are not indeed AKG made. 👁️👁️
Hi Jaime, does your G6 have the crazy overexpose issue with the video recording? I have seen it on many reviews/comparisons on youtube, which is a bit concerning.
great comparison... thinking about using one of my jump on demand to get the LG G6 from the S8.. mainly for it being so fragile.
If you have T-Mobile like I do and were able to pick up a G6 for $500 with included Google Home, I dont think you could get a better buy. I looked at both phones and couldn't find a reason to justify the S8.

HTC U 11 should be in the mix in a few days! #excited
WLWesleyJr Mr too man can't wait the suspense is killing me n I'm watching this on the LAG-LESS HTC 10
6:07 Oh great man, you came to Portugal? When? Hope you loved it! Congrats for the vídeo from your portuguese fan! :D
Yay for Portuguese!
Can't really go wrong with either! I suggest people getting to use them for a bit to see their personal preference of the two. Great insight!
S8 screen does look red-pink compared to G6's.
MaDDeX he had a blue light filter, dummy.
Luis Nava He didn't. Blue light filter is yellowish, not pinkish. The S8 just has a less accurate screen (although slightly more saturated)

Those pictures are from Portugal, did you came here or asked someone?
great review bro
You can enter one-hand mode on LG G6 by swiping accross the bottom three buttons from left to right.
5:06 Red Tint issue on the S8?
very well written, and informative!
Awesome comparison Jaime. Unbiased and aimed to help the consumer choose the best phone for their needs.
what? you guys came to portugal ? :o
you should visit porto, trust me!
its a nice place to make a review and take great pics
I'll say that when I first saw the two phones online, I thought the Galaxy was better. But after using them both in person, I realized that the G6 is more well thought out with regards to ergonomics. That's a trade off for the SD 821 that I'd be willing to make.

Millard Fillmore I own the LG G6 H870DS (Hong Kong Variant) and it has 64GB, Quad DAC and Dual Sim functionality and it easily bests the S8
What's the hi-fi dac do?
4:29
The bixby button didn't respond. Let me shake it.
Held an S8 in my hands this morning. Felt so lovely and the screen was beautiful. Might wait for the V30 though, not sure :(
great clip. Fair. A little disappointed that LG didn't include the quad DAC. I have a v20 and the DAC is incredible.
00:14.... he couldn't have said his name any better
i have a question. since you are on youtube. when will you video in 18:9
Resolution Changer is the most underrated S8 feature.
Huh... now, this is interesting: the infamous red tint of the S8 display is only ever noticeable on the settings... when it is present at all.
Anyway, excellent video. Best smartphones right now. I wish I could own both Y3Y
Nice pics from portugal and thanks for the comparison
Awesome! Fly like a G6.

How it was your experience in Lisbon?
Why am I still not tired of watching these comparisons
Great review.
I just sold my G5 and got an S8. No regrets. G6 didn't feel like a next generation phone for me, still had all the same software (bar camera) from the G5, same customization options. Where to buy the phone cover for Samsung on 2:48?
My LG G6 came with LG Tone Infinim HBS-910 (Harman/Kardon), friend didn't get the headphones with the SO, just depends on location
I picked up a brand new lg g6 for 350 pounds. So far i love it. Especially the camera and thank God no more edge
There was always something that bothered me with the G6 and I finally discovered what it is, it's the grey bezels. It looks so off, black would have been a better choice. I'm pretty sure the other colours come with black bezels tho

Thank you for this. I was torn between 3 phones and decided to go with a Pixel XL.
Good comparison Jaime!
I want to see Juan's version..
what case was your Galaxy s8 wearing, the leather case? that was beautiful
Bom dia. There are pictures and videos from Lisbon. Props for that. Thank you for the video. I think I'll buy one for my mum and the other 1 for me, hehe. But here in Portugal we dont get the VR with the S8 as in the US. Keep up the good work
whats that s8 leather case?
You don't mentioned features like Bluetooth 5.0, wifi extender and Samsung DEX which is a very good and useful features of S8.
Are you going to return the s8 for a less pink display?
LG phones have one handed modes. Swipe the navigation keys. Might have to activate it.
I think Jaime should watch Supersaf's camera comparison video of G6 and S8 to know the actual difference.
My dad's LG stylus2 has the "screen shrinking" feature.
How do I work for Pocketnow ?
Wait... Were those photos out of Portugal?
What is the brand of phone case do you wear for Galaxy S8 in ---> 2:46... I want to buy it .. thanks
I like how he says one is easier to use in one hand than the other when they are the same size XD
what's the s8 case with the stitched leather at the back? looks dope
yes the wide angle camera on the G6 is handy but if you can't access it in apps like Snapchat then it becomes a limited experience
i'll take the g6 just for that fingerprint scanner
Why do phone cameras crop when switching to video recording?
0:36 to 0:49
It's about time someone says. That statement is LONG overdue lol. Maybe now most of the stubborn android users will get off their imaginary high horse and taste reality. For the most most part, specs mean nothing. That whole "android has better specs" argument is irrelevant. Ps. I have nothing against android. It's only the android users that I have beef with.
technoguy you have no replies to this because it's true. There is no come back. 😂😂😂
Apple sucks.
Dori Dori haha yeah that why they out sell and out last Android phones. 😂 But I like pixels and Nexus devices. I own both.
So mainstream means better? Ok lolololol
Dori Dori no sales numbers mean better. Haha
Wait, were those pictures taken from Portugal?
hey Jaime can you tell me how you are using your phone? I'm a heavy user that games on it and watch 2 to 3 hours of TH-cam or twitch when I'm getting ready and doing other things and never came home with lower than 25percent battery
I have s8+ for the record
The s8 looks better, the g6 is better
if "looks" also apply to screen, then the s8 definitely looks better. Also does better in using that wider screen, which could also count as looks right?
Isam and how is that?
Isam Because boot loop is better.
Nope, but blowing up is.
Isam LG bootloop issue will always be around with every model so am sticking with my s8 and note 5....
it's really burning people's buttons that the galaxys screen isn't set to full resolution out the box
1:37 Incorrect Jaime, bland colors are usually not all that accurate and LG is a good example. It has a very cool bluish/greenish calibration that not only washes out the colors but also makes them pretty inaccurate. S8's panel shows more true to life colors than G6. You can clearly see it at 1:50 - in the S8 white is white, meanwhile in the G6 white is... It's not a matter of taste.
The Blue Light filter was already active on the G6 on that shot. That's why. My bad ^JR
But still - independent tests are clear - G6's display is far from being accurate (so were G5 and G4). For about 2-3 years AMOLEDs are accuracy champs.
That case (at 2:46) - who sells it ???
Loving all the KEYone photobombs in this vid!
Hey J'aime, which do you recommend between the LG g6 and the galaxy s8? Thanks
Hey, where do I get that calendar widget I see on those phones?
just asking I realized that the G6 has a green colored hue on the screen is it actually still there? cuz I remember that last year's G5 had it too
The bixby button is not laggy. You just need to press it very very quickly!
both look stunning in the hand and feel so premium.
A very nice comparison
I'm still bothered by the lack of a notification LED on the LG G6. Or is that not a relevant feature anymore?
For me Samsung Galaxy S8+ is great for one hand use and I have no problems with the fingerpring scanner.
Jaime can you revisit the pixel? I like your opinions
watching from my midnight black samsung galaxy s8. 😋
pritam bc Same Artic Silver!
Watching from my potatoe!
watching from my galaxy s5 beat that
#TeamMidnightBlackS8
pritam bc s8+ orchids grey :)
@Pocketnow i think my s8 plus camera has prob, cause when i take a selfie the pic shows like it was flip horizontally
if Jaime ever leaves pocketnow I'll have no reason to stay subscribed
does the G6 take better low light pictures than the V20?
the pocketnow logo is slightly deep-toned
What case did he have on the S8?
not just two companies, it is done by Xiaomi as well.. it was first as well
does anybody remember the aqua crystal phone(something like that) from a couple years ago? nobody gave credit to those guys
