I'm just saying that people want so much from phone companies and when they get it they nitpick about every little flaw. I get it, people want what they want and they want it yesterday. they also want everything to be perfect but it's a learning process. i do agree with most people that bixby is a waste of space and for them to put out an unfinished product was terrible idea. Juan, about the default FHD+ resolution out of the box. Keep an open mind and don't get too cranky :P, but you're really measuring it wrong. You literally measured two of the use cases that have nothing to do with screen resolution: 1) screen resolution has nothing to do with cpu-only bound benchmarks, like geekbench; what affects these benchmarks is the CPU clock limiter (or booster) performance mode or battery saver mode. 2) screen resolution (on most Galaxy devices in particular, and lots of other devices with properly implemented video decoding) also have nothing to do with video playback *because* video playback on these devices is done (and decoded) using fixed function blocks on the SoC, NOT buy the CPU cores. This is different from GPU decoding, in which the SoC designer dedicates a certain area for a co-processor(s) (ISP/DSP etc..) for video encoding/decoding. These blocks are miles faster and more efficient than CPU or even GPU decoding. You didn't see a difference in battery consumption between the various resolutions because the power consumed by the decoding blocks is too small, and you shouldn't see a power consumption difference even for videos at 4K60p. These videos will ALWAYS be rendered at native resolution, then upscaled (or downscaled) to the screen resolution selected. The difference in battery consumption you saw at 720p can be attributed to two other factors: A) the WiFi/radio stack is downloading considerably less data, thus less power consumed. B) You're measuring power consumption wrong; Galaxies and other devices don't always show a 100% representation of battery life (which isn't bad), if you really want to test endurance, you'll have to (sigh) drain the battery from 100 to 0% to ensure that you're getting a correct reading. Now, for why a lower resolution consumes less power, and why it's better (and a good thing) to ship a device at 1080p max: 1) UI performance. You should get better consistent performance. Even if the speed difference isn't apparent to you (or even non-existent at native vs default res), the SoC (both CPU/GPU) and radios (for streaming, as mentioned above) would have a much, MUCH easier time rendering and compositing basic UI elements. This difference is exponential in silicon terms. Power consumption of the CPU isn't linear at 100 mhz clock implements. The *average clocks* the CPU run at are MUCH lower when you lower the resolution from 1440p to 1080p (ie: if the compute power is double at max resolution vs default, the power draw is tripled or more). 2) RAM management. Opening a UI process in a lower resolution generally consumes less amounts of RAM, thus making the devices more responsive, and apps are kept more in memory, decreasing the amount of work the device needs to do to reload these apps into memory, which also translates into lower power consumption. So, better performance, lower power consumption. 3) GAMES. This is a non-brainer. Games run at lower resolution run faster and consume much, MUCH less energy. I, and droves of other Samsung fans, have been BEGGING Samsung to slow down on the resolution race for years (since the Galaxy S4) and/or at least give us the option of reducing the screen resolution manually. Looks like not only did they give the option, but they decided to ship 1080p as default. They've probably tested it out theselves and concluded that not only is the difference almost indistinguishable, but the benefits of a lower (but still very good) resolution are far better than crippling their devices with that huge, unnecessary resolution out of the box. These are mobile devices, not desktops they're MUCH more power sensitive. Sustaining high clocks on these devices is impossible atm. This isn't the same argument as FHD vs UHD video recording. It's a win-win situation. Complaining about it, or even bringing it up, isn't really necessary. If you're one of those who really see the difference, or if you mainly use your devices for video consumption (like more than 75% of the time), OR even if you're simply not convinced (you have no reason not to be :P ), you can still go ahead and max that slider up. Set it and forget it. Samsung *isn't* guilty of any false advertising. They promised a 1440p screen and they delivered the best one at that. Even at 1080p, it's still the best and _sharpest_ (since at the default resolution, there are more than 4 sub-pixels per pixel). You're welcome :) Oh, great review by the way!
Aw Snap great peace of writing, thanks, very informative. but I don't know if that about sub pixels is true, isn't it that because of those sub pixels, the screen isn't as sharp as a 1440 ips LCD screen, because they have a better pixel arrangement? and I want a phone that is capable of a 1440p screen running everything smooth, as this kind of screen is just a little bit better than a 1080p ips. or do these s8 have a new pixel attachment then s7?

When they made phones that wouldn't break easily, everyone bitched about how they looked and felt. Now they make the phones beautiful to look at and hold, everyone bitches it's to easy to break!!! LG pulled off the mix perfect with the V10!!! Stunning to look at and hold, but mil-spec drop rating. I dropped my V10 many times to pavement. Not only did it not break, unlike most phones it didn't even leave marks or indents were it hit. The V20 is damn good too, it will show marks where it hit the ground though. I can't stand how people brag how beautiful their phone is, we have all this tech to make them as thin as possible. Then people put a case on it that makes it look and fell like a Nokia from the early 2000s. Totally backwards guys. I'm running my S8+ raw dog. Have never broke a phone before, only reason I dropped my V10 is because it was upgrade time and I didn't care. My wife dropped my V10 a lot though. She won't get to touch my S8+ hahaha. I just treat the phone like something that cost almost $1,000.00. Most people act like they are cheap and treat them as such. I don't, take care of it and it will take care of you!!!
thehaxfactory If you lose your unlocked phone, someone now has access to all of your contacts, possibly banking info, your address, and your email accounts that may contain sensitive info about your home or job. And yes, people do use biometric sensors. Predominantly, the fingerprint sensor. The average person's phone contains quite a bit of personal info that could be pretty disastrous to lose.
iamtechbananas iPhones suck tbh im switching from my 6s the 8 is probably gonna do a no bezel display and a bit of curves and 2 or 3 more features and its not gonna be worth it.
Money Bags that can be said with about any phone. S7 to the S8. Worst camera app about the same camera, little more display, little fast CPU/GPU and Bluetooth 5.0. Worst place for the finger print scanner. Iris scanner that's half bake and face unlock that can be trick by a photo... wait actually s7 seems like a better buy....
Adam Mckeithan iPhone 5 - 7 Plus barley a difference unless you put them aside a couple of features added and some devices get them and only real difference is camera and size...So Samsung seems like its doing a better job here. The finger scanner isnt even that bad many people claim to not have a problem with it. Camera has slight improvements and front facing actually improved from 5 to 8 MP. S7 is a better buy! But I got an older phone it it looks like a better deal to me from my prespective.
iamtechbananas I may buy the older iPhone with an actual jack. only thing I need a cell phone is for making calls and watching my TH-cam. no need for a shitty camera on the phone.
Excellent review once again! :) That includes the real audio and camera reviews (which you can't find anywhere else). Really love the candid and detailed approach. Juan is definitely my favorite reviewer on TH-cam right now because of this. That kind of content is what's keeping me coming back for more.
Pocketnow I've been seeing your videos on s8 since its launch....but it seems like you been always purposefully giving a bad review. definitely there are some shortcomings but it's not as bad as you guys are trying to portray it to be.
Love your video Juan!!! I enjoy the honesty you have in this video. I always enjoy when reviewers show some honesty about devices, talking about what makes the phone great, as well as some drawbacks to it. While many reviewers gush over the styling of the S8 and how oh so pretty it is (which I agree with
I'm glad people like you realize that. There's already more than enough hype from marketing and paid reviews, and yet fanboys still feel the need to defend the flaws when they can't even afford that glorious, precious phone themselves.
You do appear to be a very angry young man. Chill, petal, I was merely pointing out that this was a very balanced review. The S8 does indeed look to be an excellent piece of hardware, but I think the point is that it's not flawless. And my main point was that it's not just reviews for this year's Galaxy S phone that are almost universally sycophantic, it happens every year. What is interesting is how those same phones, when discussed about a year later, are always described as having the usual Touch Wiz lag after only a few months. Hell, people have already mentioned lag on the S8! If Samsung would just ditch Touch Wiz and adopt stock, or near stock Android, THEN you'd have a flawless device! Oh, and I use the fingerprint scanner all the time on my phone, and I think that Samsung could have copied LG and Google and placed it in the middle of the phone's back. And Bixby? If you are going to dedicate an entire button to a feature that nobody actually needs, it makes a lot of sense to have it working properly on release.
Did you actually watch the video? The only people who could possibly be offended by Juan's review are major Samsung shareholders. Or just blind fanboys.
honestly, you need a case for this phone. without one you have anxiety everyday. with a case though it solves the fingerprint sensor well enough. i rarely ever tough the camera
thehaxfactory maybe buy a rhinoshield crash guard bumper with the tempered glass on the front and a screen protector oon the back. I heard they do a good job.
Great review, I don't blame you being nervous holding the galaxy S8 without a case as my wife and son have left 2 galaxy S7 edge's & a galaxy S6 edge plus unspeakable after minor falls.
Aw, yessir, another fine review. Juan, you hit the sweet spot with tech reviews by giving just enough detail on whatever it is you're reviewing, in this case the S8+, to make me want to try this phone or not. I also love the seperate real camera/audio reviews so when you get to the main review, it doesn't clutter up the video and get to the rest of the good stuff (or not so good) about the phone.
Lavy Khurana The point of the matter is about waterproofing...which Sony did first. Also don't they have 960fps slow motion and still the only one with 4k.
no one cares. Design rules everything. Sony phones look like shit compared to most phones pushing the boundaries. Those rectangular designs they've been doing for the past, idk 5+ years dont say much
S Saini of course they did search on google my point is if he has small hands why would he review an phone that meet to be for people whit big hands i bet if an basketball player or nfl player that has an height of 6 up to 7 feet they have the right to complain aboit the size of this phone i bet they will still say 6.2 inch its not enough ....so he cannot complain about an phone that is not met for small guys
lol as i say he cant complaint of an phone that doesn't met to be for his size he muat be around 5'7 feet for example shaquille o'neal 7'1 he wont complain bout the size of this phone perhaps the phobe will look small in his hands
It is amazing how much smartphone technology has progressed over the last 10 years since I owned the original iPhone and HTC G1. People seem to forget how much has changed and constantly just criticize both Apple and Samsung. Just enjoy the device you want and be grateful we have all these different choices! I recently purchased the S8+ and it is truly remarkable. averaging between 6 to 7 hours of SOT and using the phone all day for both business and personal.
Hey Juan excellent job here once again! The “nitpicking" that some may not fully appreciate of the fingerprint scanner, camera app, and most importantly the price tag are all critical of a rational review that helps in making conscious purchasing decisions. Thank you for your insight and keep up the masterful work!
I am seriously EXCITED for the Google Pixel XL 2. Anyone else? Edit : Samsung phones or any other non stock Android phones will lag after certain months. Best lag free Android is stock which is the Pixel rn.
JuanBagnell JUAN, Both my LG G4 and V20 are having boot loop issues. Samsung sucks with updates and all their flagships lag after few months. I'm getting the next Pixel XL 2 and selling my S8 plus. Although S8+ has a WONDERFUL hardware, software will slow down over time which is a shame!
Your videos quality is superior, those camera zoom-in effects are pretty nice. Keep it up! Btw. i'm curious what's the name of this touch-screen pointer?
Seems like an overly negative tone, carefully choosing words to have a little dig, but not going too far to make it obvious. You're obviously biased for LG.
Do You Even Lift Bro? Yes, he should just have said that he doesn't like the phone and that would be fair to the viewers. Straight without all this b... And I wouldn't mind.
Because fanboys and marketing already do 99% of the hype and it will sell lots. Reviewers are supposed to point out those little things that people should know about because you should damn well expect it to be flawless if it blew $1000 outta your pocket. Who cares about tone? It is what it is, listen to the points he make and stop finding ways to get mad.
Daniel Mladenov i rather keep my s7 edge than both g6 n s8 + but he literally is doing it for 5 videos now no other reviewer has done that lg multi window sucks n samsung did it before google even introduce mutiwindow and rocks alot samsung actually tried to solve the pillar box issue unlike lg g6 doesnt do anyything except for the camera which is still not good enough to s8 htc 10 is a grt choice as well if u want to buy a good phone also v20 is better too
Taha Badar Idk if he'd favor Apple cause I've seen him being hard in iPhones many times. But G6? Perhaps so. Pocketnow has been promoting(in a way) G6 since it's availability and indirectly have stated it to be better.
J Chris Tmg iphone has not brought anything new but it has been more consistent iphone needs to deliver this yr but iphone software smoothness is second to none
Another Excellent Review , I was head over heels with your camera review since being a photographer and having used S7 Edge for low light , you covered all the necessary points !! Keep up the Good Work !!
nah man its waay overpriced. Apple used to be the only overpriced company but lately samsung are following the same trend. $850 for a fucking phone is a joke and when you realise that that phone is probably not as fast as an iphone 7 from a year ago makes even less appealing.
San Mattew Samsung Phones isn't Known for Being Very fast BUT They are way more powerful and has a longer life than Crapple phones. ( if your definition of "Fast" is the simplicity off the iPhone go ahead And have the so called "win".
Your reviews of smartphones are very thorough, covers each aspect of the device in perspective of the competition in that particular segment. Watching your videos gives a full understanding of the device to a prospective buyer.
I don't think so, especially seeing how much later it was released, but I do think we see some of the compromises of this release in what they could and couldn't finish after the Note's problems.
You get flaws. I have been saying that the S8 is overhyped. It will only sell based on Samsung's super aggressive marketing and the looks. There is nothing noteworthy or special about it. It has a bad fingerprint scanner placement making it difficult for most people to use. It has half baked unfinished Bixby software. Still has no dual camera. The screen is advertised as QHD yet is set to FHD out of the box which is so not right. They should mention that it is not at full resolution on start up. It has headphones branded as AKG yet it isn't even made by them and is rather made by Samsung and only TUNED by AKG. What a cheat of a way to pretend you are offering phones made by AKG. The AMOLED screen for each unit can be inconsistent with some now reporting reddish tints on the white. There is no flat version meaning having to deal with silly curved edges that may look good but serve no real purpose and create weird glare and distortions. The speaker quality is below average which is no excuse for a phone at that price especially since other water resistant phones have better speakers. It has average battery life. It has the latest processor yet I've seen reviews where people already have lag meaning it isn't properly optimised and will lag to a standstill like most Samsung phones after just a few months. If you peel away the propagandist Samsung marketing and look past the hype, the S8 is far from being the best Android phone. A good one....but not worth $850.
SDav21 I guess it has to be that expensive because of all the research and marketing they've done. And I thing your undermining what Samsung had done with the S8 when iPhones with their lower resolution screens, non-expandable storage, tired design and huge bezels, and the lack of a head phone jack are in the similar price category.
Bon Jorte Badiango I'm not undermining it. It has too many flaws to cost that much. The LG G6 also has small bezels, expandable storage, QHD screens, waterproofing and head phone jack. It doesn't cost as much as the S8 and is less flawed and more well rounded and consistent. It may have an 821 but it is perfectly capable for every single thing. You'll even see on Phone Battles it ended up beating the S8 in several speed tests. It's not always about the hardware but the optimisation of software and harding working together. Samsung shoves the newest processor in yet can't bother to optimise it. Just like what was said in this video. It can have the latest specs but if it still lags what's the point. Several reviewers have also noted lag. The S8 is flawed and overpriced and overhyped for no reason.
SDav21Even if it does lag is it really that severe to not warrant its high-cost? It's skinned android and putting a layer atop stock software will slow it down by a bit, and maybe more in the long run. Surely it will get patched but the reality is that Android just lags and that Apple has control over the hardware and software of its phones that they were able to fully optimize everything. Just look at the single-core performance benchmarks of an Iphone. Even today's crop of Android flagships can't even come close to do that but instead they excel in multi-tasking and background processes. So give and take.
Hate those stupid gimmicky weak ass curved screens! Releasing a S8 with that fingerprint position and no flat screen is just plain stupid. They ruined the S8!!!!
Great review. I'll tell you why the longer screen Juan, because of people like me who love to read. This screen is perfect for me. I love it. I can't wait for the Note 8!!!!!! I hope the screen is even bigger. Keep up the excellent work!
I'm really considering buying this phone. Having a review specifically talking directly about the value of the phone in comparison to price is awesome! Well done as always guys!
Nice video, Juan! I admire every video you do and appreciate all the nice bits of humour sprinkled in there. I agree with a lot of parts in the review, but I hope you can explain the future of biometric security measures that isn't a fingerprint scanner. Keep churning out those great videos :)
I'm on my iPhone 7 and ever since this came out I've been contemplating. I had the galaxy S7 Edge, but for some reason it didn't do it for me. After watching this video, I think you sold me on it. Fantastic review man!
You said it was an unlocked version, but at 8:20 you talked about the game being poorly optimized for Qualcomm chipsets. Don't the unlocked versions have Samsung chipsets?
Juan, the only way I know how to change the notification shade colour is applying a theme via the Samsung store. On the first day with my s8+ i installed "Soni Stock UI" which is a very good stock google theme and the notification shade is now white buttons on dark shade. The only caveat you'll have to pay for it.
JuanBagnell I've seen many of the reviews and yes, no one else did. I appreciate the attention to detail approach you take with all your videos making it truly unique.
absolutely loved the review.thank you pocket now for making such cool tech videos to help all the intrested people to get more ideas.U guys are amazing.
Fantastic and genuine review as always. Have seen reviews just praising this device for looks and omitting it's flaws in the process. You proved different to such reviewers which i like a lot....
everyone wanted a "bezel-less" phone until they came out with one.
everyone wanted a toned down TouchWiz until they came out with it. now it's omg can we just have stock.
people complained about how the uhd screen eats battery, but when they give you the option to change it there's still a problem
triggerhappykid7 honestly man
How to get likes on videos and find something to talk about every single time? Keep criticizing. That's why they do it..
triggerhappykid7 see all "our" complains are practical. "we" wanted bezelless display for fanctuallity and it isn't. we wanted a tonedown softwear for smother performance and it's not... and the option for uhd resolution isn't helping for battery life nor a better performanse
This is so true. A lot of people hated hardware buttons so they eliminated them too.
I'm just saying that people want so much from phone companies and when they get it they nitpick about every little flaw. I get it, people want what they want and they want it yesterday. they also want everything to be perfect but it's a learning process.

This is the best and sharpest screen at the default 1080p resolution, _compared to other 1080p screens_.
Hope it's clear.
Aw Snap nice comment.
Anyone else still deciding whether this phone is worth your kidney?
Cena Felix your kidney? Its only 850. Thats a good price for the best phone on the planet.
Oh look at Mr. FANCY KIDNEY who hasn't wrecked his kidneys with bourbon over here! Mr. "I CAN GET $800 for one of MY internal organs!" Wooo Woooo!
imma keep my kidney,,, 💔
Cena Felix will we ever get a real audio review for the exynos version? that's what most people are getting.
No, the exynos version has far superior ram management and keeps apps in memory longer. As proven by countless S7 tests.
12 mega pickle any body else catch that
You're new here, huh?
no i have been here for year
He's been saying it for months in his camera reviews, It's great haha :)
lil thug can't be. this is Juan's thing. literally every video... he says it
YES ANOTHER JUAN OF YOUR VIDS
:-)
Aidan Suguitan I wanted to see hymen river era
JuanBagnell what stylus do you use in the videos? thanks
Random Person LOL !!!
There's nothing a phone could ever do to get me to spend $850 on one. So expensive!
It's a not insignificant amount of currency.
KAC3 that's an engineer's salary for 8 months in my country,so you better of sell your kidney ☺.
thehaxfactory but I does everything fine I think phones in general are massively overhyped
KAC3 why $850??? In my country we get for we have ours for $700 and that's the Exynos chip and also we get a free starter kit which includes a wireless charger screen protector and a case
أحمد حميدان engineer never make any amount of money
I don't see the gripe about the fingerprint sensor.
I have yet to smudge my camera lens.
Danny Young liar. stop trying to justify your purchase
I have yet to smudge it also. I really don't understand the gripe. Have an S8+ with medium sized hands so I don't even have giant hands either.
SuperNovaHeights I don't have to lie. It sits farther to the left/right (depending if the phone is face up or down).
If you know where it is located then you know where to put your finger.
He has small hands and there is no easily discernible differentiation between the camera divot and fingerprint sensor divot.
this guy is paid by huawei that's why, I haven't seen a single video of this guy w/o bringing up huawei phone when nobody really cares about huawei
Really do appreciate your videography along with reviews.
I've been working really hard on that. Glad you enjoy the improvements :-)

This phone is definitely worth it!!! Best design ever!!!! I love my galaxy s8!!!
I stopped touching the camera after the first hour, you reviewers have the biggest problem for something that is easy to get used to lol
thehaxfactory If you lose your unlocked phone, someone now has access to all of your contacts, possibly banking info, your address, and your email accounts that may contain sensitive info about your home or job.
And yes, people do use biometric sensors. Predominantly, the fingerprint sensor. The average person's phone contains quite a bit of personal info that could be pretty disastrous to lose.
I love how you so objectively analyze the full user experience!
Thank you for teaching Michel Fisher cinematography
There was a LOT to talk about here. As for Fisher, I didn't teach him camera work, but I did pick out his microphone :-)
I love mine, so happy I switched from the iPhone 6s!
iamtechbananas apple is total trash !!!!
iamtechbananas iPhones suck tbh im switching from my 6s the 8 is probably gonna do a no bezel display and a bit of curves and 2 or 3 more features and its not gonna be worth it.
First!
Pocketnow loool
Pocketnow 😂
Pocketnow I've been seeing your videos on s8 since its launch....but it seems like you been always purposefully giving a bad review. definitely there are some shortcomings but it's not as bad as you guys are trying to portray it to be.
megapickles
Pocketnow Second ;)
Love your video Juan!!! I enjoy the honesty you have in this video. I always enjoy when reviewers show some honesty about devices, talking about what makes the phone great, as well as some drawbacks to it. While many reviewers gush over the styling of the S8 and how oh so pretty it is (which I agree with
Great, balanced review, Juan. Not the usual TH-cam fawning that occurs for every Galaxy S release.
JuanBagnell that's a great video!
Your eloquent, objective riposte has left me stunned by my own folly. I bow to your superior knowledge.
Always great to watch your videos Juan! You are definitely one of my favorite people to watch on TH-cam.
Glad to have you on board :-)
honestly, you need a case for this phone. without one you have anxiety everyday. with a case though it solves the fingerprint sensor well enough. i rarely ever tough the camera
Yeah. I just got the shipping notification on some cases. REALLY looking forward to that.
thehaxfactory maybe buy a rhinoshield crash guard bumper with the tempered glass on the front and a screen protector oon the back. I heard they do a good job.
always love these reviews.....
:-)
When you wanna comment something but nearly all the comments are just fanboys from every community arguing with each other o__o
Thanks for the honest review!!! I love the way you explain things!!!
You're very welcome. Glad you enjoyed it :-)
Why didn't Samsung and LG just make the phone smaller instead of the screen larger?
That's a good question that I can't answer. I'd kill for a phone similar in shape to the One M7 again...
Kyle Netherwood hardware can't be packed into it if the chasy can't hold it all.
Great review, I don't blame you being nervous holding the galaxy S8 without a case as my wife and son have left 2 galaxy S7 edge's & a galaxy S6 edge plus unspeakable after minor falls.
Shudder.
Drives me nuts. I hope we get some good screen protectors soon. Current offerings have mixed reviews for curved glass.
How did you make the settings screen have a black background?
Theme.
theme engine. try material black theme or my personal fave, called Weyo. They look amazing on amoled screens, and even save you battery life!
It's a lot more work, but we get more freedom to really talk about this stuff by NOT putting out hour long reviews ;-)
In the U.K. the S8+ costs the equivalent of $999.76
Psshhh.. Not that much. It's not even over a $1000.
JuanBagnell they left that mark for "iPhone Next". It's definitely going to be an expensive phone here in uk
How hilarious would it be if it was called Next...
Unbiased professional review as always. Love the production. Keep 'em quality reviews coming! I wish I could have this phone.
Sony did waterproofing first. with open ports and all. How does Samsung all of the sudden lead there?
SDav21 The reason being sony hasn't innovated more than it and 4k thing is meh.
Lavy Khurana The point of the matter is about waterproofing...which Sony did first. Also don't they have 960fps slow motion and still the only one with 4k.
no one cares. Design rules everything.
Sony phones look like shit compared to most phones pushing the boundaries.
Those rectangular designs they've been doing for the past, idk 5+ years dont say much
Don Giovanni I think the Xperia Z5 Premium looks awesome especially the gold one.
Lavy Khurana Is that why the Xperia XV Premium took the award of best smartpohone in MWC 2017 ?
I really like your reviews! Specially the camera ones!
Glad you enjoy! Those are my favorite to produce.
Your buying this phone mostly for the Aesthetics.
Thanks! With your help I finally get all the information about the S8+ compact and in one picture!
Like your voice and keep up the good work! :)
Glad you enjoyed :-)
why not get the s8 instead of complaning of the size of the s8+ that make u look baf reviewer
then why s8+ out sell the regular s8 this is how bumb u are
S Saini of course they did search on google
my point is if he has small hands why would he review an phone that meet to be for people whit big hands i bet if an basketball player or nfl player that has an height of 6 up to 7 feet they have the right to complain aboit the size of this phone i bet they will still say 6.2 inch its not enough ....so he cannot complain about an phone that is not met for small guys
lol as i say he cant complaint of an phone that doesn't met to be for his size he muat be around 5'7 feet for example shaquille o'neal 7'1 he wont complain bout the size of this phone perhaps the phobe will look small in his hands
One reason is that the S8+ has a larger battery, thus more battery life. That's a big selling point to me.
this is probably the most objective review I've seen in a while. Kudos and keep it up! You are definitely a trusted source for phone info
u came out with the review sooner than expected😀😍love ur reviews job well done!!😘😍
:-)
It is amazing how much smartphone technology has progressed over the last 10 years since I owned the original iPhone and HTC G1. People seem to forget how much has changed and constantly just criticize both Apple and Samsung. Just enjoy the device you want and be grateful we have all these different choices! I recently purchased the S8+ and it is truly remarkable. averaging between 6 to 7 hours of SOT and using the phone all day for both business and personal.
who else is jealous tell me !!!
solo gaming take off your pants and I'll tell you
6644pmr ha!
Hey Juan excellent job here once again! The “nitpicking" that some may not fully appreciate of the fingerprint scanner, camera app, and most importantly the price tag are all critical of a rational review that helps in making conscious purchasing decisions. Thank you for your insight and keep up the masterful work!
Second!
You kinda didn't though ;-)
I really love Juan's reviews! It's really detailed :)
There was a LOT to talk about here LOL
Answer : You get pretty much anything you want from a phone.
J Chris Tmg And more c:
Not the same for everyone. Speakers are trash for example.
I wouldn't say trash. Speakers are okay .
Love it that you go into enough details to make a phone without a Dual Camera System take amazing photos.
:-)
3:45 awwwwhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! dat screeen porn tho.
Naw brah, the REAL dirty stuff happens at 4:08
Damn straight!
Great Video! Love the contextually pleasing, high quality video shots, information and, yes, jokes. Keep up the awesome work!
Glad you enjoyed it :-)
I am seriously EXCITED for the Google Pixel XL 2. Anyone else?
Edit : Samsung phones or any other non stock Android phones will lag after certain months. Best lag free Android is stock which is the Pixel rn.
REALLY hoping Google can deliver some slightly more compelling hardware.
BROKEN MATT HARDY nope
My S7 is over a year old.. 0 lag..
Javier Delgado Samsung is garbage
did he say 12 megapickels at 9:13?
Best review of SGS8+, not worth the money, not this time Samsung
Luis Romero I think it is but the Android software is what I find appalling.
Do You Even Lift Bro? and your biased for Sammie you can't make justice for the price tag of this phone.
In the 1080p mode, are pixels "turned off" or is it just rendering in 1080p but all the pixels are actually lit up?
now im convinced pocketnow promoting g6 my s7 edge is better than g6 s8 does more than g6
Or maybe you're biased?
12 megapikle xD
Hey Juan! Great review! What is that hack and slash game you were playing at 8:37?
Implosion!
Thanks man!
nah man its waay overpriced. Apple used to be the only overpriced company but lately samsung are following the same trend. $850 for a fucking phone is a joke and when you realise that that phone is probably not as fast as an iphone 7 from a year ago makes even less appealing.
It's a curious position we find ourselves in. Better hardware is great, but software is key.
San Mattew didn't you get any freebies with your hand set to make it worth the price?
San Mattew I think a lot of premium phones are encroaching closer to the $1k mark.
At that point, it should do something special.
San Mattew blame our government who print money nonstop depreciating our dollar
San Mattew Samsung Phones isn't Known for Being Very fast BUT They are way more powerful and has a longer life than Crapple phones. ( if your definition of "Fast" is the simplicity off the iPhone go ahead And have the so called "win".
Your reviews of smartphones are very thorough, covers each aspect of the device in perspective of the competition in that particular segment. Watching your videos gives a full understanding of the device to a prospective buyer.
There was a LOT to talk about here LOL.
The s8 was just rushed to compete with LG
I don't think so, especially seeing how much later it was released, but I do think we see some of the compromises of this release in what they could and couldn't finish after the Note's problems.
Jesse James It launched 1 month later than it usually does, how is it rushed?
Jesse James Actually LG rushed the G6 to beat the S8. G series phone normally launch late spring-early summer.
Jesse James just the opposite.
you can pull down notifications by swiping down any button on a nova launcher setting 👌
SDav21 written by an iPhone owner
eurosonly Most certainly not. I like Apple but won't buy one because I much prefer Android. I have a Huawei and LG. So no not an iphone user.
Hi there! What stylus pen are you using?
Hate those stupid gimmicky weak ass curved screens! Releasing a S8 with that fingerprint position and no flat screen is just plain stupid. They ruined the S8!!!!
I do kinda miss the flat screen S7...
Traxter Max I have one and I like it :-p
Traxter Max the screen itself isnt as curved as the one on the S6 edge and S7 edge , now it's merely curved just like the note 7 ...
Traxter Max less Bezels looks better edge functionality and better vr it's a win to me
Traxter Max use a case
Loved the detailed video man
Super detailed video as usual. You have covered everything. Even the questions that need to be answered. Thumbs up.
:-)
Great and informative review as always!
Thanks for this. What is the stylus that you were using?
Appreciate the honesty, Juan. Great review.
best review of s8 ever. so honest
Glad you enjoyed it :-)
Should i get the s8 plus or the s8?
s8
go to a store and feel, really. I did buy the s7 instead of the edge when I hold them both. I just love the form factor of my s7
I don't know why people are saying it's laggy. I got it yesterday and I love it. Experiencing no lag whatsoever.
great review man.. I really like the way you review these units in full detail both the s8 and s8 plus look like great phones. Keep up the good work
are you using your phones while charging ?!
Really good darn review! No punches pulled.
Great review. I'll tell you why the longer screen Juan, because of people like me who love to read. This screen is perfect for me. I love it. I can't wait for the Note 8!!!!!! I hope the screen is even bigger. Keep up the excellent work!
Plus 1 for the Arrested Development clip. I love that show. "Illusions dad! You don't have time for my illusions!"
Great video. Julian, what is the brand of the capacitve pen you were using?
I'm really considering buying this phone. Having a review specifically talking directly about the value of the phone in comparison to price is awesome! Well done as always guys!
I always like your review, thank you for help
Great humor and review! :D
Nice video, Juan! I admire every video you do and appreciate all the nice bits of humour sprinkled in there. I agree with a lot of parts in the review, but I hope you can explain the future of biometric security measures that isn't a fingerprint scanner. Keep churning out those great videos :)
That's a great idea for a video. Thanks!
This of the better reviews I've seen for this phone. Its nice to hear both the obvious positives and some of the less mentioned negatives.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
as always, very nice and detailed review. thank you very much.
Finally someone that show the area of the display
I'm on my iPhone 7 and ever since this came out I've been contemplating. I had the galaxy S7 Edge, but for some reason it didn't do it for me. After watching this video, I think you sold me on it. Fantastic review man!
You said it was an unlocked version, but at 8:20 you talked about the game being poorly optimized for Qualcomm chipsets. Don't the unlocked versions have Samsung chipsets?
Juan, the only way I know how to change the notification shade colour is
applying a theme via the Samsung store. On the first day with my s8+ i
installed "Soni Stock UI" which is a very good stock google theme and
the notification shade is now white buttons on dark shade. The
only caveat you'll have to pay for it.
That's a really well made and in depth review covering things like battery drain percentage with different resolutions. Great job!
I was shocked no one else really brought that up.
Glad you enjoyed the review :-)
what is the pen hes using to manipulate the screen on this?
Google needs to redesign the google pixel with a premium look
Yeah they do. Love the software. Not a big fan of the hardware. What I wouldn't give for a Kevlar or carbon fiber Pixel...
JuanBagnell Yeah exactly the software is really good just the hardware is holding it back.
Love your enthusiastic voice! :D
Juan's voice sounds a little bit different. Are you using a different mic?
Juan, can you tell me what kind of stylus you use in your videos?
Juan Carlos has done it again!!! A balanced review for a balanced phone!!
:-)
U deserve it Juan
Thank you so much for your review! I really enjoyed it, and it truly did help me learn more about this phone. keep up the great work!
:-)
great review!! you guys always convince me to want things i can't have 😂 Keep up the good stuff!
Fantastic and genuine review as always. Have seen reviews just praising this device for looks and omitting it's flaws in the process. You proved different to such reviewers which i like a lot....
This is definitely one of pocketnow's best review !
excellent work with the review. very detailed and technical.
Felt like a few more numbers were worth mentioning.
As usual, excellent, unbiased and knowledgeable content. The voiceover is up there with the best. One of my favourite tech youtubers!
Right on :-)
This review was really helpful and i reaaaalllly enjoy you tech videos i hope you get more subs
:-)
