- The highly requested and long awaited Raider Playthrough™ is now here... Welcome to the first episode! The official title of Chapter 1 is "Unbound", but youtube requires descriptive titles, hence the slightly clickbaity "Prisoner Experience". It is a rather accurate summary of the video, after all.
Also, just in case you are confused by the first 10 minutes.... None of those events actually happened throughout my campaign, which is why I had to use footage from other games to illustrate the Origin Story of Balon Blacktyde. You may notice that this video is a bit different from my usual stuff... That's because I wanted the first chapter to tell Balon's Story, and his story only, from start to finish, without anything to break the immersion. There's still a few clips and memes that I couldn't resist putting in there, but if you were hoping for some funny stuff, I had to leave most of it aside, because it would've ruined the pacing of the video.
It's also a bit drawn out, and quite repetitive at times, but that was necessary in order to showcase just how harsh life in Calradia can be for an outlaw who has absolutely nothing to his name: No weapon, no food, no money. In the original "Raider Experience" video ( • The Authentic Raider E... ) I said something along the lines of: "If this was done in a playthrough series, it would've taken Ukzug 5 episodes to get to where he is right now. (leading a large gang and earning 50000 denars)". And because this series is probably going to be 20+ episodes long, I have enough time to explore each and every stage of the raider journey, down to the smallest detail.
Because of those two factors, this video may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I wanted to try something different. And along this series, I will continue trying different things to see how I can improve not only the quality of my content, but also the frequency of uploads, because right now, I am very inefficient at putting these videos together. I need to find some editing shortcuts that speed up my production process, and that can only happen through experimentation, but experimental videos may not always be good. Step 1 of making my videos more efficient is to remove explanations such as this from videos and instead writing it all in the description, for people like YOU who really want to know all the details. If you've taken the time to read the description, know that you are Awesome!
And now that our protagonist has earned his freedom, episode 2 should be a lot more interesting than this one! See you... when it's done. (2-4 weeks from now, probably)

Now here's a list of all the different games used throughout this video:
The first few scenes are from the "Trial of the Seven Kingdoms" mod for Bannerlord. ( www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/2560 ) But as I've also written in the description, the first 10 minutes of this video are just Balon's origin story and they have nothing to do with the actual campaign, which was done with 0 (zero) mods, on the Bannerlord Difficulty, with the Ironman mode enabled, on the 1.6.0. patch. If I install any mod throughout this playthrough, it'll be one with 0 gameplay impact, such as RTS Camera, which might allow me to do cinematic shots. Until further notice, consider the playthrough UNMODDED.
The scene at 0:25 is done in Mount and Blade Warband, with the "World of Ice and Fire" mod. (it's on the steam workshop)
The scene at 0:39 is done in That Game That Todd Howard Keeps Re-releasing. More specifically, it was done with the Dragonborn expansion. (I actually had to play through the entire DLC campaign for 9 hours to unlock the ability to ride dragons and get that one scene.)
The scene at 1:01 is done in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. So are a lot of the other scenes scattered throughout this video, I won't time-stamp each and every one of them. It's a beautiful game.
1:10 is a village in the Viking Conquest DLC for Warband.
1:12 is from the opening scene in Kingdom Come Deliverance.
The footage at 1:20 is from "The Viking Way", a game which I actually reviewed on my channel.
1:38 - Skyrim again.
The ships at 1:52 are from Assassin's Creed Odyssey, another beautiful game. A shame its successor didn't build upon its mechanics.
The game at 2:14 is the same as the one at 0:25 ;
At 6:15 you can see a glimpse of Conan Exiles.
Red Dead Redemption at 6:56 ;
Finally, The Witcher 2 appears at 7:48 .
After that, it's mostly Bannerlord with a bit of footage from the aforementioned games sprinkled in.

Or luck. Ironically, out all my Rock Bottom starts, this was by far my worst attempt. I had more misfortune in this run than in all my others combined. But at least it made for an interesting story. :)
You make easily the best bannerlord content on youtube. you’re a great storyteller and I love the editing and also just your voice. Really looking forward to the next one!
Maybe one day I'll transition from making the best Bannerlord content to making the best Gaming content. But BL is good practice. :)

Don't forget: when you press X you use a javelin as a short spear. Could come in handy. I've used throwing axes as my primary sidearm for some time.
same! i two keep two stacks of throwing axes, a spear and a shield. that way i can fight from horseback maximally as well as on foot

By my estimates, it should be out in about 2 weeks if all goes well. But I cannot remember the last time things went well, so I won't make any promises.

I've been following these stories involving the role of a criminal in the game and I've liked it for 3 main reasons: 1) knowing the daily life of a criminal in the game is new to me because I always try to be nice and follow the law; 2) it's almost news to me to observe a more realistic and honest playthrough of a campaign that includes fails, loses and major problems because I try to be "perfectionist" in my game with the notable help of save/load and 3) I need youtube content (especially if I can prioritize listening) to distract me while doing a boring marathon of arena fights to keep my sanity going.
I imagine that this whole plot also helps to train and perfect writing. Good videos!
Your storytelling ability is crazy good. I don't think anybody else could make being a captive for several months ingame this exciting.
I could think of a few people who would do far a better job than me. Luckily for my channel, they don't cover Bannerlord. :)

You should keep an eye out for village parties that have just defeated a bandit party, they be weakened, probably have food and have prisoners you can liberated who will fight for you.
Minor clans which are out of contract might let you join with then to fight a common enemy.

As always, your videos are incredibly well made. Smaller details always jump out at me in your editing/recording, like whenever something nice is on screen. You are an excellent content creator and I genuinely hope your channel grows rapidly
One of the most difficult details I had to add in the video is at 6:58. If you pay attention, in the distance you can see smoke rising from the first village raided by Balon's Crew. It took me about an hour of save scumming until the stars aligned so that no Aserai lords would come to defend their village while I spent 3 in-game days burning it down.
I loved the series so much I'm here starting it again.

I love your merchant series so I can't wait to get more of you playing a character who delves a little bit more into the violence. Also as the second most knowledgeable person on GOT in all of New Mexico I have to say I enjoyed the extra details you want to craft the story in a way that doesn't feel forced.
I do hope you someday use mods to open up more options for your stories. Nothing crazy like the GOT or WH overhaul but I think some of the small neat ones such as "My little Warband" (Don't worry it does not add my little ponies) would be fun additions that you can have a lot of fun with, and if you have fun then I will most certainly have fun.
What annoyed me most about my trader series was how rare it was to get into a fight, and how long it took to engage in a bit of war. I mean, the plan came together beautifully at the end, but getting there was a bit of a drag.
The raider however... he'll pay the iron price for everything, so the only issue is how can I prevent the violence from becoming monotonous. I'll have to experiment with different formats and narration styles to keep things fresh.
As for modding... I'm actually into the extreme stuff. In Warband, I've only ever bothered with Total Overhauls, and I'll most likely do the same in Bannerlord, so when the GoT / WH / LotR have a full release, I'll definitely give them a go. Until then.. I won't totally rule out the use of mods, but I will most likely stay away from them until the game is out of Early Access.

@@pylotlight Can't go into super great detail as the only recordings I have done are just auditions. VA is probably going to be the last thing we do since its the easiest to make as well as the least important aspect.
I do know in our discord we have a prototype trailer with a good chunk of our voice talent. Saddly I didn't make it, apparently my recordings were not dramatic enough. Which is bullshit since I read lines such as "Your mother would still be a milk maid if I didn't squirt you into her belly."
As for how in-depth the VA is, hard to say as their is some talk about haveing cutscenes in the game as well as re doing the game cinematic. I do hope we have some readings as I would love to say "Its almost harvesting season."

I captured a city, forced the owning family to join my banditry, and married their daughter to give my bandit king an heir. :D

2 suggestions.
You can "double-tap" forward (W) to fast accelerate your horse forward.
There is a key for "kicking" that is great against enemies with shields. (Check key-bindings to find that key)

This is fairly unique and also probably quite the effort to use so much footage of so many games in such a dense manner. Instead of letting the game run on the background by itself, having all these images and transitions is no small task.
