- Nice clear arrival from over the mountains South of Burbank. We also fly right over the Van Nuys airport when on final to Burbank.

@@janetbailey6727 We usually arrive in the area from the Northeast. ATC will vector us from the north over those hills that are to the east of Fillmore VOR. They will send us to MIKEI or vector us onto the final outside of SILEX.
It’s neat how you can use Sherman Way as a guide all the way to Runway 8. Whenever we land in Burbank, the 737 shakes and shudders so much that I feel the pilots have very little runway in which to bring the plane to a stop.
Hi, Julian! Yes, it's always nice to have a handy highway that leads you right to the airport. With regard to the Boeing 737: Runway 8 at Burbank is only 5,802 feet long. That's plenty for most private jets, but it's not a lot for an airliner. That's why they have get it on the runway quickly and use hard braking and reverse thrust to get stopped safely. @@captainkent8470 Will Burbank ever expand that runway? They have room on the approach (the large vacant lot on approach is empty except for airport equipment) and they can bury the road separating the lot and runway in a tunnel. Or cheaper CLOSE the road.
