Seems like that’ll get the job done, especially for $150 US! Thanks! -Brad

The true test of this mixer will be when I put it to use later in the week. I shopped around quite a bit before ordering this one and it was the cheapest I could find--and the price is hard to beat, especially considering that you can pay almost that much for most small electric hand tools. Let's see if it mixes concrete. If it doesn't, it will make a lovely planter out by the driveway!

Wish I had one for yesterday and today. Mixing concrete in a wheel-barrel is no easy task, even if it's only 3 bags of Quickcrete and crushed rock for 3' piles to stabilize a concrete pad that keeps sinking at the back door. Nice little mixer, and adding a little grease in a few key spots could serve wonders. I'd also open up the motor compartment and check for gears and bushings for grease and wear areas. A little care goes a long way, and don't overload and abuse it, it'll last forever stored in the cold storage shed..

Good machine to have! This was bought at Princess Auto in Canada. It is a store very similar to Harbor Freight in the USA.

Good day eh!! It looks like a nice mixer. And like you say, for a few jobs every now and then, it'll be perfect I bet. For a daily user on a construction site, maybe not eh!!! Nice video. Simple and easy to follow step by step instructions!!! Take care!!!

Thanks for stopping by! Yes, it should be a good mixer for occasional use. I'll take care of it and make sure to clean it out while the concrete is soft. The motor and belt assembly are under a plastic cover and I haven't looked inside yet, but the whole assembly only weighs about 10 pounds so I can't imagine what kind of motor is in there or how long it will last. I think this mixer comes with a two year warranty, so I'm sure I'll know by then. If it doesn't work as a mixer, I think it will make a lovely planter for a few nasturtiums or tulips, out by the driveway, don't you? hahahaTake care!

Use it within its limits, keep it clean, it'll work out fine for a good while. It might be cheaply built but it's a dead simple thing and not much to go wrong. It'll take care of your countertops and for what you paid it won't owe you anything afterwards. After that you can get some sidewalks and pads out of it. If something breaks on it, should be really simple to repair. In the last video about the counters I talked about building it on a stand that you can wheel around the kitchen. How convenient that it already has one! I forgot that yes, they're generally on wheels to begin with.

Ya it'll probably be fine. The ring gear and pinion-drive are a really sloppy fit (huge backlash and misalignment) and are the source of all the clatter, but unless the cast iron is porous, it should stand up. I'm going to grease the ring gear to help soften the interface.
Funny thing is, I intended to use it outside the back door of the house but I put it together inside. Now, I'm not sure it will go through the door without taking it (partially) apart. hahaha.
Like you said one time, it is hard to believe that some things get QC (quality control) approval at the factory. It was someone's job to say, "Yep, that's a Pass."
I watch a channel sometimes called "Pakistani Truck". It shows engine, steering, and battery, frame repair/rebuilding (to name a few topics) in Pakistan, with few tools or proper gear. Amazing to see what they produce on the ground while dressed in sandals! Check it out:

@@EverydayProjects I Love that channel! Rebuilding batteries, rewinding smoked starter motors, clapped out tools and machines, home made tools and machines. Those guys are good.

@@heliarche Hard to believe that they can pull off the repairs they do with the limited supply of equipment they have, plus doing most everything on the ground in bare feet (often). Very entertaining stuff to watch but I always feel bad for the workers (often toxic/dangerous working conditions!)

I have used mine for mixing potting and garden soil, four years on and still going.

I was impressed with the durability too. For the money, it's not a bad mixer. Thanks for checking it out.
