She's so fucking talented that it hurts she's not getting the recognition and fame
rightfully deserved. I hate to say it but if she had been living in Britain she'd be a mega-star by now. The US market has been rewarding image over substance and real talent for some time now.
I kind of agree but at the same time I'd rather her not get too big in the music industry because they'll get a hold of her and probably turn her into a sellout industry whore. Also one of the reasons I'm glad she got her fan base off of TH-cam rather than from winning american idol. It's like I want her to get the recognition she deserves but I don't want her down to earthiness to be ruined

im literally in tears right now... I used to listen to this song 9 yrs ago. every morning when i was still in an abusive household (im okay now) and when i have no will to get up. Im forever thankful for tori because she is one of the reasons why i held on and get up every day. I even swore that i will see her perform live when i finally have the chance. and in a couple of weeks, that will finally come true! because she is on tour right now. Thank you so much Tori for being an inspiration and a reason for people like me to see life differently. I love you and im excited to see you soon! 💜💜💜

Dude her skill literally never ceases to amaze me. The deceptively simple and yet complex way she uses the same chord pattern used in hundreds of other songs to create something so very set apart is astounding. Her use of the different chords in the key to create movement through the lines “I’m ready now, it’s time” that create a driving feeling to that part of the song, really bringing the listener forward with her. And the finger-picking sections. My god. As a learning guitarist, I am beyond astounded with how smoothly and easily she picks the strings and frets the notes, all to create this silky smooth sound that has a very well defined flow to it.
And let’s talk about these vocals. The thing that make Tori Kelly so amazing is her CONFIDENCE in her voice. She is so comfortable, so confident, and so sure that she can not only hit the original notes, but higher ones and ad lib anything at any point successfully. Her agility is of course astounding, and the clarity with which she sings every single note in her runs is baffling. Now I can throw down some runs, but I have absolutely nothing on the clarity, ease, and creativity of those runs and ad libs of Tori’s. That level of clarity comes and the ease with which she does it is unreal.
Like Jesus Christ I don’t think many people understand how fucking technically flawless she is at any given time. I’ve literally only ever heard her make two or three mistakes live, and they’re usually ignorable to the broader audience. Like yes, she sounds amazing, and her song-writing is intelligent, and she can play that damn guitar. But when you see that, understand that she has literally perfected her own style of playing, and as such he solidified her own identity as an artist and musician. Her vocals are immediately recognizable, but her vocal technique is absolutely perfect.

Real talk, Tori Kelly not winning American Idol was the best possible thing for her, after that moment, just from a fan perspective, she put in so much work after her experience with idol, her sound and her voice has grown so much since then, it looks like it really pushed to her discover herself, and learn everything from music and video production and become stronger vocally and has really grown with her guitar playing.

Tori Kelly always sounds the best when she plays acoustic. I think that when she comes out with produced songs, she doesn't stand out. But how many top selling pop stars can sing like that?? her raw talent is gorgeous, chilling, emotional, beautiful... I could go on!! I hope she always stays true to herself because she is one amazing artist I believe in her and wish to see her succeed!

Tori, I want to caution you about the direction of your upcoming debut album. I love your raw, acoustic, simplistic, stripped performances of your songs/covers. I concerns me when I hear a performance like this, then compare it to the studio performance and your talent is masked by overproduction. Please stay true to your artistry dear, you are so talented.
That is also my biggest concern. The studio versions of her songs don't hold a flicker to her live performances. They seem to be holding her back.

It is good sometimes, but it is nowhere near as good as the real thing. It hurts my soul to see a singer give in to the norm that is associated with becoming recognized. Just hoping one day someone will bring about a change to the music industry. It could be any one of us.
