    Hi Thomas, just found your channel & enjoyed this vlog so much I have now subscribed. It was a good mix of visual & voice, well done. I noticed some people not happy with the music etc but I found it fine. I have done many long hauls (Qantas & Singapore) including the very long trips Sydney to Dallas, & Perth to London. I have always flown plain old economy due to budget constraints & have watched many videos to see what premium economy would be like. After watching a lot of different reviews I do feel I will probably stick to economy, despite the fact that I am always glad when I get there & can get off the plane. My impression from watching is that many of the appeals of premium don't matter so much to me. For example, I don't care about the lounge as am usually too excited to eat much & priority boarding isn't important as I stopped using overhead lockers many flights ago (witnessed too many aggressive people taking the space over your seat). I travel with a carry on shaped somewhat like a box but the beauty of it is that it fits under the seat in front when required, but is great for raising your feet a bit. I don't care if the food is in one of those pokey trays & plastic cutlery as long as there's something edible & they serve a couple of gin & tonics! I have occasionally found the bathroom a bit grubby but usually only near the end of the flight. Most of the time it's totally OK to use. After the flight I always think oh well it's just one day out of your life, I've got the extra money I would have paid for premium to spend at my destination & the staff have always been helpful & polite. I will look out for any more of your reviews - thanks

    Awesome report!! I would have to agree wholeheartedly with you as well regarding the way they try to get you to adjust to North America time zone straight away....we travelled to LAX a few years back with our two boys who were 8 & 10 at the time.....they were NOT having a bar of going to "bed" when they were still on Brisbane time and they wouldn't even be home from school yet! Our youngest finally fell asleep an hour before landing.....nevertheless, love your reviews and the dreamliner does look nice!!

    Just have to love the duty free "maze" !!! Great way to express the design of airports all over the world!!! I feel Tom that with all the new aircraft that Qantas are getting over the next 2 years they plan on turning Brisbane and Perth into major hubs for long haul flights with fewer restrictions and flight curfews it makes sense. Melbourne has no curfew but of course Sydney does and due to flight planning and distance etc Brisbane and Perth make perfect sense as Brisbane is getting a new set of runways etc...its going to be interesting over the next few years!! Really enjoyed the take off vision!! Great review mate and they are a very solid airline !! Food looked ok...hope it tasted that way! Really enjoy your honest reviews!!

      Tough to say, as it makes a lot of sense to use Los Angeles or Hawaii as stopovers to NY, Chicago, Austin, Dallas, Orlando, and others.
      When the next-gen 787 comes along, the flight economics of direct passage to NY via BNE will make a lot of sense, assuming Qantas doesn't convert to the A350 as part of Project Sunrise.

    • @ThomasMackay
      @ThomasMackay  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I realise that now Lachlan - while I haven’t flown in the Dreamliner economy seat, I would say for a flight where it might be worthwhile trying to get some sleep (such as the return front LAX to BNE), it would be worth it. I’ll be flying that flight on my way home, so will let you know!

    • @patrickproctor3462

      It's a tough call. A couple people quibbling over not being able to use the windows is probably better business than people disliking the route because their bodies won't adjust to the time zones.
      I still can't believe LAX has the 6AM de-planing restriction... When WILL the U.S. get out of the stone age with customs? Changi's about to be fully automated 24/7 (starting with Terminal 5) for crying out loud.

    • @cozinugget5416

      To be honest I quite like having the cabin forcibly dimmed in order to get sleep to be adjusted to the new time zone. This is usually impossible when people still have their window shades open allowing so much light into the cabin.
