People don't always appreciate how much work can be involved with fitting a door. Looks like you used a 3mm margin around, which I agree with. Old frames and hollow core doors - they always seem to swell after fitting! A shame about the damaged door. But at least you could deal with it in store and it wasn't ordered online and delivered.
Great video again keep them coming Have you thought about a Souber jig for the mortises and catches , really easy to use with different cutters for mortises and drilling
Another nice job m8 well done 👍 , some of the old Orbit Housing properties here in Coventry have the heads running out up to a 1" in some places, possibly due to bomb damage during the war
Every single door i fit is like this! I've yet to have a door to fit that just needs a slight trim and in it pops. Well done always a pain up and down and scary with tools outside..
When I'm doing more than say 2 doors I'll write down what each door needs taking off, then you're using the track saw cutting top and bottom off each door at the same time rather than one door at a time... Saves abit of time then hang them all and do locks all at same time just because you've got the tools ready just saves a little time I've found but when the frames are that much out it's a pain. I'd have definitely been planing them inside 😂 looks like your planer isn't catching all the shavings though?
Watching this makes me appreciate how complex door fitting actually is. Main reason i buy second hand doors wherever possible (hinges and handles already chased out🔑) Have you thought about adding window fitting to your list of services? waaay easier imo, +you dont have to cut them to size as its all made to measure.
Router them hinge cut outs far quicker, plenty vids on here on making a simple jig that you can clamp to door ,get your self 2 foldable tressels my back hurts just watching you, but yeh man some frames are terrible i feel your pain
Silly question but is there a reason you did not just use the old door as a rough template. I did a one recently in Newcastle with the Howdens oak doors. Everything this was marked up using the old door including hinge and lock position. Worked well. Still impressed you did three upstairs doors with all that planing and morticing.
I’d consider asking customer if I could have a cleared space in a bedroom to work in and knock them a few quid of Also your better off checking heads in squareness to the lag rather than level
usually if the damaged is noticed after unwrapping theyl take them back. but as uve 'altered it' they might be not willing to take it back. its all about your word against their now.
great video mate some days doors are a nightmare
Great video doors looking great waiting part 2

Nice job mate - Gotta love it when the frames are this swonky.
For doors that far out i'd definitely be near doubling my prices for the extra faff, time is money!

Great Work, do yourself a favour and knock up a jig for those types of hinges, great time saver 👊🏻
Also got to worry about all your tools being stolen outside these days. Makes the job even harder. Should be £100 per door for all the hassles
@9:44 When the customer comes and says they wanted it opening the other way 🤣
Should of put some dust sheets down and done all your fitting near to where your installing the door

Hi mate how do you leads for your work
Are you first checking frame for plumb?
Yeah
Why don’t you use your track saw to trim the edge instead of the planer. Since I got my track saw, I never use my planer.
What chisels are those mate?
was wondering where the apprentice went? haven’t seen him in a while
When things are this far out - I always try and use the door you are replacing as a template, assuming the old door has correct margins.
The old doors we’re not fitted very good
@@ttdowgcarpentry2390 Yikes.....
What software do you use for invoice and quotes bro
Word document for invoice
Notion when I’m quoting
Where was the apprentice.!
Brotha asking can he vid for his SM while videoing for his SM...smart move
Woudnt get 85 a door we’re am from not a standard door any ways maybe oak
£100 oak I charge
For 85 quid a door, you might want to sand the planed edges of the door ,once painted they'll be like a guillotine.
Agreed
How the hell did you miss that damage ??
I’m blind 🤦🏾♂️
@@ttdowgcarpentry2390
ready mix filler would have been a shout
