Ha! Mr Beat and I must be related. Spouse of Peter Zickafoose, Catherine Hull, is my 4th great grandaunt. Her father, Peter Thomas Hull, is an interesting person, my 5th great grandfather and, apparently, the most-recent common ancestor for Mr Beat and me. Sixth cousins?. So random...... Ha!
Oh oh oh. My authoritative Aunt was Head of the Ladies Auxiliary for Veterans of Foreign Wars. Would she know more about the Revolution than others? My wonderful Grandfather, her father, once told me quietly, with a smile, 'and don't let your Aunt tell you that you aren't a Daughter of the Revolution.' Oh my, maybe there is a chance to figure out, to what, or whom he was referring. He always called me 'daughter.' Is that why he called me that? Thanks to ALL participants in your video, Genea Vlogger. Ancestors just come alive! 🙄😳😀👍
Yep Mr Beat has an epic tree for sure! Always check those siblings as you never know who you're going to discover as a cousin. I have a similar story. My 3rd great grandmothers sister was a 2 times great grandmother to an Australian Prime Minister!
I found that my 6th great grandfather’s brother had five children who joined the Shakers. One left to get married, but the other four died still residing in the community. I reached out to the librarian at the Shaker Village Museum in Alfred, Maine for any info he could give me, and he was extremely helpful! A few other multiple-great grandparents had other descendants that gave me famous cousins, such as presidents FDR and Millard Fillmore, Joseph Smith (as in the Mormon Church), Robert Frost, Walter Cronkite, and Lucille Ball. Also, a few sisters and sisters in law accused of witchcraft in 1692 Gloucester, MA, one man who transported Captain Kidd’s pirate treasure around New York harbor, and a truly vile man who tried to commit genocide on as many Native Americans as he could during his life.
Interesting tidbits about the two censuses from Steuben (pronounced Stew-Ben, with equal emphasis). Both Orange and Reading are now actually in neighboring Schuyler County, having been formed from the town of Wayne in the first decade of the 1800s. They became part of Schuyler when it was formed in 1854. I live about an hour west of there in Allegany County.
Point in fact, I did not think there was a Germany until 1871. Same as the use of the term USA in some of these documents... would it not correctly be, British North America?
@Ruth King Prior to 1803 There was the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. Although the emperor had only limited power over much of its territory, this empire still was a political and cultural bond that connected all of Germany.
@@alexj9603 However, people didn't usually consider themselves just "German". That's like calling the citizens of EU countries "Europans". Yes, they are, but they are first and foremost citizens of their respective countries.
I have a couple of ancestors on my mom’s side of the family who fought during the American Revolution for the Patriot cause so technically I could become a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). My mom however has never enrolled in it. Also several of my ancestors on both sides of my family were Freemasons (and no they weren’t involved in any conspiracies. I know people like to connect the Masons to conspiracies), in fact one of them was a Grand Master (which is cool). I also have a few Odd Fellows (a fraternal organization like the Freemasons that was declining in membership during the 20th century but is increasing in the 21st) on my dad’s side which is interesting. If there are any fellow descendants of Odd Fellows out there I would love to know.
And as a result we never would have had president Eisenhower or General Eisenhower during World War Two just think how history would have been so much different because of that little detail.
Stüben (German) is also Stueben (German) and later maybe on paper.. Stuben in USA huh? 😅If it is Steuben ('schtoy-ben' in German ) it might have also been spelled Stäuben (German) in za old country but that is unlikely. I would still fanatically look for it anyway. 😝
Just had a genealogical session with Mr. Lambert last week! He's really knowledgeable and connected . Great guest for you to have.

@@kathyastrom1315 Who are you common ancestors with FDR and Millard Fillmore? Im also distantly related to them.
From a British perspective this is fascinating. I doubt I'll ever need it but it's been very interesting.

I am a descendant of Oliver Goltry of New Jersey and we still have a family Bible that traces all the names of our family back to Oliver.
Oh wow, you referenced our Bible! Actually incredibly cool
Love Mr Beats ...🤗

That doesn’t surprise me! 😆
