I thank God for your show because it help us Belizean people who didn't get a chance to learn how to make different Belizean dish.I was one of those people who always order black cake for my birthday every year. I didn't mine the price and was not interested in learning how to make it but one day. I was watching your show on how to make Belizean black fruit cake the way you made it look easy. I say to myself I can do that even though it seem like alot of work but I try it and it came out beautiful now I make one for each of my family members every year thank you God bless you. I pray that it will be a overflo in your business in the name of Jesus.

Our recipe calls for brown sugar instead of white and Ruby wine as the liquid. After baking, we also pour some of the wine over the hot cake. Although I'm not old Lol, we use to cream the sugar and butter (Wood & Dunn) in a pigtail bucket and a pot spoon like 2 days before we made the actual cake.

I do remember a lot of creaming, but I don't understand why. I cream for only about 4 to 5 minutes. I know back in the day it was with a wooden spoon. Joe put the wine when it cooled down a bit first.

@@TheBarePantryShow I don't iunderstand how you got the cake so black, which I love, but the burnt sugar I use never makes mine dark. I use more than 1/4 cup yet not black. I cane to the conclusion that some how a black food colour might be in the burnt sugar.

@@pastryshack551 I used Blue Mountain burnt sugar and the dark grape juice. There is no photoshopping of the video or pictures. It is truly that dark.

Looks delish! I am wondering if the black sugar is the same as our molasses? The more boozy, the more groovy for us ;-)

@@carlapopper7895 no the molasses would not give you that dark colour which I love, but mine is never that dark, she said hers come Amazon, so I will try to find it for the next time. I bought a brewing, I use molasses and it still did not come out dark.

since you are using white sugar...maybe you should use half cup of sugar to 1 cup of flour...too much sugar plus fruit will make the cake too sweet.

I used the last 2 bottles of burnt sugar to make these cakes. It's not worth buying from Amazon at $12.00 a bottle.
