VEVO was the worst thing to happen to TH-cam music because now every reactor thinks all the music videos are from 2009
Lol thank you for saying that!!!! Ik its 1999
just looking at that particular wait and bleed video you should know its from the late 90s LOL @@davefalcon2030
Any song uploaded after it's release date should have the date in parentheses
I guess the all think it was metallica in the 80s then nobody made rock music again until 2009
Notwithstanding the fact that this is the radio edit version of the song, where Corey sings the verses instead of screaming them. Imagine the reaction to that from these TH-camrs...
The song that opened my eyes to Slipknot in the early 00's
Same.
Same.
Same.
I got an Aiwa car stereo that could read data CDs in 2001 or 2002, so I loaded one up with as many songs as it could hold. This was song #1. So many good times
The first time I heard this song was my house shaking from my neighbor blasting it on his huge house stereo(tower speakers taller than i was), I had to walk over and see what it was.
These dudes are god level. Short story: back in 1998, we hosted slipknot at our college for a concert. To see the terror in the audience, yet the brilliance of their art, was astounding. The band crashed on the second floor of our fraternity that night. As the sober social chair for the night, I woke in the morning to hear clanking on our stairs. Sounded a bit like Shawn was playing his kegs on our stairs. Nope, it was Corey dragging the last keg from our basement to the second floor so the boys could finish it up. A fan from that night onward.
I'd say they WERE god-level, but have been far from it for a long time. They're egotistical, emotionless, corporate-style slaves to their own success now.
@@omegashinra7672fr, they used to be decent but now they're just a soulless shell of their old self
@@Sulomor_BMit’s called growth they got older and sober if they stayed rebellious they’d never have a chance at normal lives they changed after Paul died
That sounds like the most legendary weekend. What college was this at?!
@@alfonzo9289 Illinois institute of technology, if you can believe it. Our frat president was best friends with a dude who’s sister was sister soleil, an artist who popped for a short time. Her label allowed the show at our campus but required that slipknot open. She was like a EDM pop artist. So her fans showed up. Slipknot opened with like 10 peeps from Iowa up front moshing. Many in the crowd left the theater and waited outside until it was done. I was backstage the whole time. It was raw. CORRECTION: it was 1998. I searched on Google and couldn’t believe it popped up. That Google AI is something else at times.
1999 - I discovered this song, the rest is history. Slipknot's early stage presence was pure chaos. 9 dudes on a tiny second stage at Ozzfest.
Before Ozzfest 99 I saw them at a Cultural Center when they opened for Coal Chamber WILD show
Iowa's biggest cultural export, possibly ever.
Southern Italy, late year 2000, sixteen years old. A friend of mine comes to me with his portable CD reader and his phones and says: "listen to this song; it's called Wait and Bleed. The band is called Slipknot". I was not a metalhead, but I'll never forget that beautiful punch in my face...
Greetings from Italy...🤘🏻
Grande cazzo!
Enter stage. Unleash unspeakable Chaos. Exit stage.
that's the only way to do it tbh.
My grandmother saw me watching this video and freaked out. Apparently, I'm now doomed to hell!!! 🤣
Hahaha aren’t we all ? 🫠😂🤘
If she was a decent grandma, she'd come with you😂
Lucky
She’ll wait for you there
So much for compassionate and loving of all
The band tries to play as fast as possible and Corey tries to keep up. Poetic chaos.
Their first single from their first album, 1999, this is where I discovered Slipknot. Saw them 6 times those first 2 years.
Late 90’s Slipknot shows were absolute beautiful chaos.
Back in 2000 I saw them perform this live and Sid the Dj kept jumping into the crowd after setting his arms on FIRE! 🔥🔥🔥
I saw something similar at Van’s warped tour in 1998 here in Houston, Texas. Only he set his whole mask and everything on fire and came back up to the stage naked from the top down. What a soldier finished the rest of the concert.
Freshman year of high school. 1999. My friend shows me a magazine with a band on the cover with freakish masks. I read their main story in said magazine. Those masks imprinted on my mind for weeks. Then listening to their debut album. Goddamn what a time. Seeing all their pictures not knowing they will be one of the most influential bands in metal history is crazy to think about. Great reaction.
This was a radio friendly version 😁
Album version is more shouty/growly.
Slipknot - spit it out live download 2009
I was there! It was CRAZY
Album version, the live version sucks audibly
London 2002 for peak Slipknot
Fuck yes, 2002 is way better.
I was one of the lucky ones who got to see Slipknot on this tour for Ozzfest '99 before the self-titled debut album was released... Just to witness the original 9 (Corey, Clown, Jim, Mick, Craig, Sid, Chris, and the late Paul Gray & Joey Jordison) crammed onto a small 2nd stage and just tearing it up... INCREDIBLE experience!!! No one knew the songs but they really got the crowd going for their 25 minute set 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Legendary band 🤘🤘And this was from 1999.
I also saw them during that tour, and I had just turned 13. I was still in my early nu metal phase - I hadn’t ever heard or seen anything like slipknot at that point.
I love this song since it first was released and at that time it was just right before I started high school. Good memories.
this is one of the best songs for me
My first introduction to Slipknot. RIP Paul and Joey
My mum was a metalhead and introduced me to Slipknot. It was this video. 🙂
A Slipknot classic and actually the song that got me into Slipknot!
Fun fact it was me seeing Wait and Bleed on TV that got me into rock and metal. Before that I enjoyed 80s rock like Van Halen and moden electro and techno music. But since wait and Bleed when I was 14, rock and metal has stuck with me til this day. So thanks SlipKnoT.
I love your reactions, one thing to note this version is actually much more "clean" sounding on the verse than the actual CD. On YT there is a straight audio version that has the harsher vocals highly recommend
I.e the album version. The radio edit seems to be the one these TH-cam reactors listen to. It's quite satisfying seeing how so many struggle with it, although I'm not surprised nowadays. Imagine them listening to Behemoth, Mayhem or Cannibal Corpse?
I was a Mexican gang member in 2005'ish (18 yrs old) and my white buddy ty i grew up with took to one of their concerts and the vibe there is different. Everyone loves each other and was cool with eachother. All the concerts i went to before had gang members and rivals and the whole time it was tense. The slipknot concert was the first time i ever felt at peace around people. It was a huge wake up that made me realize the worlds bigger then just my city. It was really one of the things that made me wnat more for myself. Crazy how music can do that. This song will forever be a reminder in a weird way. We all arent brought up the same way. Sorry if i made anyone think some sort of way mentioning my past.
Slipknot is the only band I have ever seen that moshed way harder on stage than the crowd did. Sid was looking over Shawn at the end because they just had a fist fight on stage and Shawn had been cutting flips onto the top of his own head the entire show lololol
During that tour there were frequent trips to the ER for band members, although fortunately nothing caused lasting issues.
I saw them live on that tour, and there was something about it I never experienced in any other moshpit, even later Slipknot tours. There wasn't malice and aggression in the pit, it was more like we all removed our self preservation. Opening up the raw, suppressed emotions, ignoring our own safety. It wasn't one of my favourite pits, but it was definitely the most visceral.
@@RandomUserYTisFailing I'm an educator and professional in the BDSM community, so I fully understand people hitting each other in certain contexts lol
Just like metal music, when it's not what you're used to, moshpits dont make sense until you've experienced them several times. Some types of moshing are physically violent, but they are not malevolent. It's catharsis and emotional release. There are sometimes idiots who jump in and abuse the situation, deliberately trying to fight, but they're almost always dealt with, usually by the experienced people around them.
In almost 30 years of metal shows, probably hundreds of moshpits, I have only ever felt properly unsafe or at risk 3 times. And many, many of them have been more therapeutic than any holiday and psych session.
Nah you'll see it in smaller venues, too. It's basically a way of blowing steam to some frenetic music and crazy atmosphere, but everyone is looking out for each other as much as it doesn't look like it! As soon as someone falls down you'll find people trying to hold back the crowd and get them back on their feet, a quick check to make sure they're ok, then dive right back into the chaos. You'll ache in the morning but during the show adrenaline is a helluva drug
Blimey, how many 'Knot gigs have you been to? I saw them at Reading 2002, and the Birmingham NEC earlier that February, and both, especially the Birmingham Iowa tour date, were absolutely fucking insane. Even the people in the seats were ripping them up and chucking them in the pit, which was carnage. A bunch of us dragged a wheelie bin into the middle of the pit at Reading and were diving back into the crowd off it. Even Corey and Shawn were pointing and seemed pretty "holy shit" about how crazy it was. The days from their self-titled album and Iowa were their most brutal on stage and in the mosh.
@@RandomUserYTisFailingmoshing isn't punching people in the face. Unfortunately some idiots lose control or just use it as an excuse to be thugs, when it's really about slamming into each other in circle pits or pogoing like crazy. Crowd surfing can be a laugh too.
That live concert video is from 1999 so this is their introduction to the world
One of my favorite Slipknot songs.
Old school Slipknot was the best 💯🤙🤙
to me slipknot is self titled, iowa, vol 3 subliminal verses...
My favorite song right now, grew up as a little guy in New York to this stuff and it was simply unheard of. Learned drums because of Joey, and still play to this day. Rest up Joey #1 and Paul #2. Gotta thank my father for everything I know, mother as well. This song fits any mood. Any up, down, and all around. Wait and Bleed motherf*ckers!!
I saw Slipknot on the Ozzfest tour in 1999. Their first album came out a month before the show so I think I had heard it once, maybe twice. I was not prepared for the pure chaos of Slipknot in those early days. Saying you saw their set is kind of an understatement. It was more like you witnessed it. I was an instant lifelong fan.
This was so exciting when it was released, the transition from his clear vocals to his growl is still unique.
I gave birth to my youngest daughter in 2002 to this song. Great conversation starter 🤣
That's a Boss move right there!
That's fucking awesome!
I hope at some point you react to songs like Iowa, Scissors,Prosthetics, Metabolic and Disasterpiece by Slipknot.
🤘🤘🤘
Her reaction to scissors would be AMAZING 😂🤘🏽
I want too see people = shit
this song has its own intensity raw nice beautiful drum rhythms they were very creative in harnessing all that aggression and doing something really cool with it
for some reason I always loved that part at the end of the song of Sid and Clown fighting on stage haha
I saw them at Knotfest for the first time in 2019, There live performance is almost as good as there videos, It was so chill and hype i went in sober and hours kater came out high as fuck loving it.
god i miss the early 2000's!
That song was nominated for a fucking Grammy in 2001. I still can't believe it every time I read it.
This was their first Big Hit song ever. This Takes me back to the Tattoo the Earth Tour Here in Dallas. So many Big Bands on that tour. Slipknot, Sevendust, Sepultura, Hatebreed, Static X, Coal Chamber just to name a few...
I have seen Slipknot live four times and I remember my first concert when they played this, the pit went insane 🤘 Maggot for life 🤘
I saw them live in OKC with Korn. The energy at this concert was amazing
Love your insights about the songs lyrics and music coalescing, I simply just agree!
This song is the first song by them I've heard which made me fall in love with them back in 1999 I discovered so many great bands back in 1999 like them, Ramstein, Disturbed,Godsmack
Been of fan of slipknot from the begining and its awesome that their songs never get old
This is the song that got a lot of us introduced to Slipknot…good times
This song triggers a primal emotional response thats hard to put into words. It’s chaotic but structured. It’s beautiful but evil, inspiring yet depressing. From the masks they wear to the lyrics in the music… it’s sole purpose is to pull that primal side (the side of us we all have but suppress) out of u. Music is very emotional n Slipknot takes that concept and cranks it up to 11. Their absolutely brilliant n this song is definitely one of their best.
So in summary, a fucking monster of a tune. I want it played at my funeral.
First song I heard from them back in 1999 when I was 18. I’ve been a huge fan ever since 🤘
Being part of the feedback loop with so much energy in the air cannot be described.
Wait & Bleed was from their debut album self titled "Slipknot" was released back in 1999
I was at the show where they filmed this video in 99, I was 17, we drove for 15 hours from NYC to be there in Des Moines. My buddy got in so much trouble, he took his mom's van to drive us all and she thought he would be home the next morning, really it was 3 days later we got back.
2018, i discovered Slipknot with 7 years old, i saw something different, i loved it
Surprisingly this is actually the radio version, the album version is alot heavier
Not many know, but this was THE hardest nu metal song for a while when album came out! The groove at the end is epic
This was the first slipknot song I heard and what got me into them also Cory Taylor said back when this song and album came out he said his screaming technique was bad it sounds brutal but it hurt his voice that’s why his screaming technique changed throughout the years
My first ever metal song i have listened to!
the audio from a 14 year old video doesn't serve the song justice
then again, Self Titled album kind of has that lofi found footage vibe anyway hahahah
You should've reacted to the real version of this song? This is the watered down version. Fuck, I miss the old days when music was dope and Slipknot was still Slipknot. If you wanna be blown away I'd highly recommend you check out Slipknots Disasterpieces DVD from 2002. Truly a masterpiece that stands the test of time.
As a kid this song had me headbangin so much it damn near turned my brain to soup 🤘🏽
One of my favorite songs from Slipknot. Aside from Prosthetics, Scissors and Vermilion pt 2. Left Behind and My Plague are cool too!
I've felt the hate rise up in me
Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves
I wander out where you can't see
Inside my shell I wait and bleed
you must listen to audio version too
The chorus is the softer part of the song, but holy hell it has this twisted, uncanny, feel to it.
I discovered Slipknot from the video of them live performing this song on Conan O'Brien's show, it was wild
Back when this was their only album, this was the song I would show people who might not be so keen on the intensity that is Slipknot. The rest of the album is either creepy ambience, or in your face. Some of their best music IMO
The CD version of the song is more brutal with harsher vocals during the verses and chorus. Good reaction, as always.
That *is* the CD version. The video is just live conceet6 footage.
*concert
No Face No Case- Reality Check. Its a long one to unpack but worth the watch/listen 😂
I'm a death metal guy. That was there when the og slipknot was made
This album was my introduction to Slipknot and due to life being life I didn’t follow them again until about a decade ago. So I missed approximately 10 years of the bands history 🤘🏻🔥💥🙏🏻💯
I like this version but it isn’t the album one I’m used to I heard it first it was the third slipknot song I listened to and it holds a special place in my heart
I grew up lodtenong to metal since o was 10 years old i love metal
@3:27 totally agree, it's very floaty, is it a dream or a memory or a nightmare, when this first came out, this song resonated with me and surprisingly im from the south, even brothers was aware of slipknot one because they're lit and their lyrics hit different, this version of wait and bleed had corey projecting his boy band voice to make it easier to consume via the masses, and also debut album it went to corey visceral vox for the other group of masses, both version slaps, also this song came out in 1998 or so and published in 1999, not 2009 although i agree their music is timeless
This song is So Old but still feels SO CURRENT!!!!
"Why is someone looking over him concerned" if memory serves me right, the concert footage was from the concert that clown fell from his mirror and busted his face open. He was bleedifrom his face the rest of the concert.
I still remember seeing the Inuyasha amv as a kid and fell in love with this song lol
Currents - Unwavering Vow. Short, cathartic, savage song that I imagine was written from the perspective of the abused toward their abuser. Worth checking it out.
Its an classic "Salseo" hermano. Slipknot got me with that one in early 2000. It was like an punch in tha face mixed with happiness, like if your blood was running makin a mothafakin party in your veins.
My favorite band 😍🤘🏼🔥
Brought out a new Image to Metal…Looking more like Deviant Creatures on stage which makes it Mysterious and Badass Mushroomhead as well, Donned masks and Paint creating their own Musical Brood
Something that seems to be unknown or forgotten to this new generation of reactors is that a huge amount of videos were uploaded to youtube in 2009 (because of vimeo), but existed way before that. At least this song is from 1999.
Vocally one of the most exciting contemporary artist is Kim Dracula who is vocally inspired by multiple rock stars from the 90's like Manson, Patton, Davis, etc. Perhaps check a song from them.
please My Plague, I think that makes explode your head. The Iowa's era was the corey Taylor's prime Voice. The Brutal gutural voices and clean and Melodical voices, and the isntruments ensamble.
Don’t think I’ve ever noticed how the video version had softer/more audible vocals compared to the studio/album version
I think this song is about the fight we all experienced at least one time between moral and nature, between the animal we are and the human we wish to be. Wait and bleed is a résumé of the raw reality of our bodies. I think they wear masks to show the so called monsters we all hide behind our smiles
the song that put them on the map.
I remember seeing this when I was 12 years old and thinking it was the heaviest song ever lol
I think this is the first Slipknot song I hear when it was first released.
I used to fall asleep listening to this album on my portable cd player when I was 12... :D
This is the radio friendly version or something like that, the album version has harsher vocals.
Disasterpiece live from London from 2002 or so makes for a pretty great reaction. Also there's a lack of reactions to Surfacing, despite it being an awesome song and a staple in Slipknot's setlists since their first album.
Yeah! Great video
It went on TH-cam in 09' it was released in like 2000
I wish people would do their research before commenting this was a mix (a.k.a terry date mix)on the special edition of self titled just dubbed over to live ozzfest footage from 99 but still a good version none the less.
I think Slipknot is why I started using the word "kinetic" to describe music
I remember seeing it on MTV for the first time...
This song relaxes me.
iconic song
War of ages - miles apart
This song was released in 99, it may have been uploaded to YT in 2009, and if it sounds weirdly soft is because it is a softer version than the album one.
I saw them at OZZFEST and they were walking around, handing out their cassette, didn't know who they were. Then they were on the stage. WTF?!?!
In the early days they did themselves some real damage on stage. They were rather enthusiastic in their approach.
They have learned a bit since then, honest.😊
Raya soon will be one of slipknot fans ❤❤❤❤
Check out Pantera’s: Floods, Cemetery Gates or This Love if you haven’t already.
I also personally love Suicide Note Part 1 and 10’s, Domination and Hollow.
Deftones: Fireal, Dai The Flu, MX, RX Queen, Korea, Knife Prty or Pink Maggit, Drive (The Cars cover), The Chauffeur (Duran Duran cover), Simple Man (Lynyrd Skynyrd cover), Savory (Jawbox cover), Caress (Drive Like Jehu cover) or Please Please Please, Let Me Get What I Want (Smiths cover), which are all pretty amazing!
