Pancake Races Observe Beginning of Lent

Shrove Tuesday, also known as Fat Tuesday, is a day to consume favorite foods and drinks - because the following day begins the Christian observance of Lent and its fasting tradition, leading up to Easter. Some Americans have adopted an English tradition of a "pancake race".
