      Thank you,this is amazing! I didn't start to look at my self(and my inner child) until I got myself in very toxic and painful relationship(my opinion with a NPD person) ,seems like life start to give me these life lessons from very early age,only now at age of 33,my eyes start to opening what is all abaut,your videos are very helpful and encouraging.. and no matter how people in my life try to help me I didn't hear them,until I was ready to look at myself first..I learn hard way.. :) I think very often children with traumas,put them selfs unconsciously in very dengerous situations in a relationships. Everyone must heal in order to have healthly relationship. Lots appreciated for the work you doing.

    Thank you for this video! I have been dealing with a lot self-destructive habits that started in college, after leaving my parents' house and I am realizing now that I need to heal my inner child. I actually thought the idea was nonsense because I didn't experience abuse as a child but I was raised very strict where I couldn't do a lot of things that my other friends were able. I had to lie and sneak out of the house to have some kind of a social life as a teenager. I always felt bad but nothing different from always feeling imperfect to my parents, especially my mom. Unfortunately, got myself involved in a toxic relationship when I was 21, where I felt I was a young child all over again, I always felt like I wasn't good enough with my parents and my former boyfriend constantly called out my flaws every chance he got, we ended up having a child and I kept running back and forth for 11 years. It's been almost 2 years of finally feeling free from that toxic relationship, but I am now dealing with boxed up traumas. I see now, that I can't keep blaming my parents, they did the best they knew to raise me. I am going to seek to heal my inner child now. Thank you!!

    The link between childhood trauma and commitment phobia is strong, most strong when the child takes on the role of parent during a trauma.

      Hi thanks for taking the time to watch and comment again :)... we love sharing our teachings so will be producing more videos in 2019 (one per week if Alex can find time to do the production alongside her other projects!).
      I guess we don't overly share about 'us' on our videos because our message and the focus of our energy is very much about you (and supporting you) and not about us! But we can see that some folks would like to get to know us a little better and learn about our journey of how we got to do what we do... so we will definitely consider how we can address this in the future - thank you for your suggestion!

    I am finally beginning this process. I wonder if you’ve heard the following from clients: No memorable trauma in childhood... My therapist says that those who don’t have a distinct memory have usually buried it and need to do the inner child work to uncover it and move forward.

    • @WuWeiWisdom
      @WuWeiWisdom 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mountain Momma,
      Thanks for your question
      As you will appreciate it would be inappropriate for me to comment on personal issues without full knowledge, history and background. Therefore I can only comment in general terms.
      In my experience this is when the Golden Thread Process really helps. Have a look at these two videos which demonstrate the basics of this process: th-cam.com/video/9XuoL9pQSR8/w-d-xo.html / th-cam.com/video/5N7sC1yGZO4/w-d-xo.html
      I'm sure that your therapist will have their own techniques in these situations.

    Thank you so much for making these videos. This one by far has helped me the most in following my golden thread to the issues of unfairness and favoritism between myself and my brother as children. Every single video has been helpful and I love David's passion and Alexandra's expert way of getting across how viewers feel and think regarding how to progress in this spiritual work. This video really spoke to me because I now realize I have been wearing some type of badge and thinking somehow the universe "owes me" for the wrongs of the past. It is eye opened and I feel lighter and calmer after each video I watch.

    I was raped at the age of 5 but didn’t remember till last year when i was attacked in my home, in my sleep. My mother hid what happened to me but she couldn’t hide the emotional or physical ticks that developed. I also have Asperger so i was way different. My mother and the rest of my family got comfortable in calling me crazy. And I accepted that label all my life.

    I was an unwanted child (girl) and the trade-off was the paternal side would teach my 3 boys (my dad had no boys, just girls) how to disrespect me; and the maternal side's trade off was they'd treat my kids like they treated me and my mentally ill mother. So they never met my father, half sisters - nadda. Anyway, I didn't realize how deep my pain ran until I spoke to a grandma who helped take care of her grandchildren. I told this grandmother that her daughter was taking advantage of her and that she should hire a sitter. With kind eyes, Eileen turned to me and said, "'What, no!!! I love taking care of my grandchildren!". All these years I've made up a story that said I was strong and independent when in fact I was abused and neglected aka: over-functioning. It took that specific moment in time with that specific person, - who shares the same name as my maternal grandma, to tell me such a painful message without actually saying the words. Thankfully, I heard her.

  • @marshfilm

    Hi there. When I was very young I experienced some scary scenes around my alcoholic father which made me isolate myself as much as possible. The dinner table is where I had to be in his presence (This is a theory I've recently come up with). I believe this is why I had a hard time eating as a child. This is a problem that has haunted me all my life. If I am having any anxiety about anything my appetite is the first thing to cave. And I mean I literally struggle to get anything down. I could be so hungry and still really struggle. Sometimes if it's bad I will almost faint when trying to eat. Except in my later teens I seemed to snap out of it and become a wild card. I became a travelling rock musician and did lots of stupid stupid things. I drank and smoked weed and stuff. But I can't help but think an unpleasant LSD experience brought all the anxiety back (or dissolved the false ego 'fearless' self I invented as a late teen?). Sometimes in my life my anxiety isn't so bad. But if something even slightly traumatic happens I fall into a huge pit of anxiety and depression. I have no one to blame but myself for being a dickhead doing LSD, but I'm wondering if this makes sense about my troubles with food/anxiety, and if the way to go about getting past my anxiety is by not running from the anxiety. Should I see my anxiety as a 'traumatized child' that I should cherish and listen to? Is that the crux of all this? Along with this approach I've also stopped trying to make myself eat if I'm anxious. Since thinking of all this I noticed that maybe I've been in the role of the parent trying to force myself (the anxious child) to eat, reliving the battles of yesteryear. Does this qualify as some sort of eating disorder? Any suggestions or videos you think might help would be greatly appreciated. Does it sound like I'm on to something, or am i being a bit of an over-thinker? I also think a problem that keeps me stuck is that I'm a really creative person who's good at telling stories. And sometimes when I have a problem I can't stop telling the story of it in my head. Anyway, sorry this is as long as it is. I welcome any perspectives or advice. Thx for the videos.

      Hi Sando,
      Thanks for your comments.
      As I said before, you have done a great deal of good work here, well done!
      Remember, you are the creator of your emotions….not the victim. Stop focusing on the emotions that you label anxiety and focus of the thinking and beliefs that create them.
      You CANNOT change what happened in your childhood, BUT you can change your perception of it! This is your choice.
      This is your time to consider being self-responsible and accountable for your thoughts, beliefs and actions as you interpret your childhood experiences.
      Accept what happened as the truth, but place it in your history and rearview mirror. It has NO bearing on what decisions you make today, unless YOU choose to allow it.
      As you correctly said, it is a story, a true story, but only of the past… don't make it your future!
      Thank you for taking the time and trouble for watching and commenting on our videos we appreciate your support.

    • @WuWeiWisdom

      Hi Marco, taking self-responsibility in this way is a powerful first step.
      Often the Inner Child wants us to perceive things as being too painful/difficult to do so that we don't break away from our normal habit of (emotional) avoidance, which the Child perceived as the 'safe zone' (even though this has never worked for you as an adult). The Child may continue to resist, struggle and cast doubt on your new journey, but remember to be kind, patient and loving with that part of your mind because it distrusts and dislikes the unknown. It now needs to learn to trust you first as the guiding 'parent'.
      Do let us know how you get on or if you have any questions we can help you with.

    I "believe" I'm overwhelmed because I feel my overactive Sympathetic Nervous System affecting my gut, viscerally, and creating a whole host of other "symptoms". Early trauma, implicit memories.
    While your words resonate, I am concerned with the lack of somatic aspects. For early trauma, infants as an example, the body cannot first be helped by CBT; we're traumatized. Gotta work bottom-up.
    I'm very interested, sincerely so, in your reply, because I'd like to get an idea if you're of possible assistance to me, but, with your response you may also help others to determine for themselves, if your teachings are for me/them.

      Hi John
      Thanks for your question.
      It is NOT unusual for the mind to bury emotional issues believing that will protect you and stop the need to address and deal with them.
      In my experience, the most effective way to deal with any traumatic event is to confront it and learn the Life-Lesson it offers.
      Although this approach can produce 'red-light' feelings of fear it is NEVER as bad as first thought. In fact, the opposite: it can be a tremendous relief and create authentic emotional freedom.

  • @Chopsyochops
    @Chopsyochops 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It’s one thing to make allowances and understanding for a parent who made mistakes. It’s another for a mother who willfully and purposely neglected and abused her children. Who chose to hate them and tell them that she didn’t love them or want them. To threaten to send them away as soon as the child stood up against the violence. A parent who knew full well she was in the wrong because she kept her child at home locked away to hide the bruises from the child’s school. A mother who was so jealous and envious of her daughters when they grew up that she tried to take her daughter bf and thought it was acceptable to pin her teen daughters bf down to the floor and rub her vagina into his face whilst in her knickers. A mother who made everything about her and allowed her kids to starve. A mother who allowed others to beat and sexually abuse her kids. A mother who did everything to punish and destroy her kids. A mother who put cigarettes out on the bodies of her toddlers and then had them taken away!! No! Sorry no! Some parents don’t make mistakes. Some parents are just evil.
    And yes I grew up with the false belief that I was unlovable and didn’t have permission to exist, but now I know different. I know that others loved me. I am loved. I have permission to be here. It’s my life and my body. I never felt like that before. Before I felt like just a servant to her. Not any more.
    Not all parents make mistakes. Some are psychopathic and do not deserve our love or forgiveness.

    • @anonygent
      @anonygent 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forgiving others isn't about them or whether they deserve it or not, it's about you healing from your pain, about letting go of the pain and the heartbreak and the acid that eats away at your soul because you're hanging on to the bitterness and anger. You need to forgive them, not for their sake, not because they deserve it, but for your own sake, because YOU deserve it.

      @CraigTara113 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David I learned about lucid living from Timothy Freke and his book the laughing Jesus. It’s a way of thinking about life where one experiences themself as both the lifedreamer and a person in the life dream. I don’t feel I would do it justice if I tried to explain it with my limited understanding of it but I can post a link to Tim’s audio book on TH-cam, he has loads of other stuff asides, where he explains the concepts. It’s really about waking up to oneoness or gnosis. I hope you are having a great day. Sending my love from sunny ☀️ Edinburgh x

    Seems easy for someone to tell you what you should and shouldn’t feel “think” “believe” when we were programmed a certain way. Maybe provide a better roadmap or actual steps to take, rather than just stopping these deeply engrained reactive thoughts etc,. We need more trauma informed (or people who have experienced it thenselves) to be teaching more on this bc they GET it more than just the science or experience of “working” with those with ACE, or complex PTSD.

    why would someone try to sabotage their selves damage their selves and bring illness to them selves, what’s happening there inside that wants that and in the same time the other side of this person is looking for healing and health it’s always swaying between the two not able to settle to one of them, what is the cause of this chronic actions ?

      The sense of unworthiness causes one to punish oneself for anger in life.
      On the other hand, there's a rational side of oneself trying to help. Feed the helping side. Say often to yourself, I am healthy, I'm lovable, I'm strong several times a day loudly.

    I grew up in a web of lies. I was alone in the house with little attention from both parents. In the evening my dad would slipper my brother and I after a couple of beers if we made a noise. My mum and dad couldn't stand each other and at 14 my mum left the city and moved in with another man. My mother died when I was 28. At 42 after years of trying to figure out why my relationship with my dad was almost non existent I took a paternity test. It came back as no match. My brother had his, same result. I remember receiving my result via WhatsApp from my supposed dad. It has been a shambles

      @@WuWeiWisdom sure,
      This is a lovely video, but people need to face the cause and effect of their trauma. My life was full of little traumas, and it still continues to this day. I'm dealing with it by creating an entirely new childhood for myself. Its usually the parents who caused the childhood trauma, so you need to face them, and stand up to them. In my case, mine won't budge so I have to carry out Justice as follows. I'm putting them through hell, showing them the mistakes, and pain they caused to me as a child.

      @@mylittlescienceproject That's not healthy, either. Turning around and abusing those who abused you isn't breaking the cycle, it's just perpetuating it. Remember that your parents were abused by their parents in turn, and they may have done their best not to treat you the same way their parents treated them. Still not good enough, but better than their grandparents did. You're not fully healed until you can forgive your parents for being imperfect. I'm not there yet myself, but I can see your way is wrong.

    🙈 Not much useful here. ALSO- a lot of family abuse is ONGOING. It carries on .. when you're 25, 36, 42... the abusers / tormentors esp if they are your parents, carry on & influence other family members, etc. Its very wrong to focus on a one-time incident of the past.

    While I appreciate your videos, it concerns me when supposedly educated people do not use language correctly. There is no such word as "incidences". Incidents is the plural of incident. Incidence is not a word commonly used and refers usually to medical issues e.g. The incidence of measles in the community has increased due to irresponsible parents deciding not to vaccinate their children against the disease.
