Are they really a thing of the future? How does this technology work? What are the problems with it? and most importantly, do we even need flying cars? Watch this video to know.

16:02 actually aircrafts have TCAS (traffic collision avoidance system) or ACAS (airborne collision avoidance system). Fitting all these technology in a flying car will make it expensive too. My thoughts about collision were on top when I first heard about flying cars.

Imagine if thousands of car fly together it would be hectic and fatal accidents as they will fall to their death. So yep thats where TCAS doesn't work. For planes, very less are together with ATC monitering them.

There can be solutions to the problems you have mentioned. From my point of view solution for “what if the car gets a prob in mid air” is that the company should be having enough sensors which can create warning signals for the pilots and since they are trained they will be knowing how to handle the situation BUT anyways there should be infrastructure created for flying cars like tall towers can be called as Autoair station where the cars can fill up the petrol again and if there’s any issue they can get a technician over there to resolve it, the towers should be placed 30-40km (not sure about the distance) apart from each other. These towers may also solve issue of traffic signals for the flying cars.
This is just my perception so it can be wrong also.
Noise pollution will be an issue unless we get enough tech to reduce the engine noise and govt regulations again no clue. 🙈

Yes as a flying car would need to generate considerable downward force to keep them flying. That translates to a lot of noise and wind for those on the ground. There’s also the probability of debris falling in the case of mid-air fender-benders…If somebody doesn’t maintain their flying car, it could drop a hubcap and guillotine you

The jestson 1 ( the single seated aircraft) would be very useful in mountain areas where generally you will need a helicopter to reach some places safely.
It could also be be very useful in hospitals for emergencies in rural areas where proper roads are in absence.
The only problem would be its costs which I believe will be solved in the future,
There are many places where this Drone like aircraft is perfect for use,
If it becomes double seated in the future there will be a ton of more uses,
Honestly I like the jestson 1 aircraft more than the other flying cars.

Hello @Dhurv, Idk if this is gonna reach you but I will still comment so that others watching this video can explore further.
I would classify this kind of project, the quest to develop a flying car, under Pasteur's Quadrant. Research can divided into 3 parts based on approach.
    1. Pure basic research - Quest for fundamental understanding: yes | Consideration of use: No
    2. Pure applied research - Quest for fundamental understanding: No | Consideration of use: yes
    3. Use-inspired basic research - Quest for fundamental understanding: yes | Consideration of use: yes
Pt 3 is what is popularly known as Pasteur's Quadrant which includes projects that is not just inspired by use but also the quest for fundamenal understanding of science. These type of projects often start at pt 3 but with time tends to reach pt 1 where the use case may or may not be relevant anymore but the fundamental understandimg achieved midway becomes much more important.
It helps in furure projects that falls under pt 2. Case in point the ARPANET, I am not gonna explain this because that would be like giving a spoiler for other readers who do not know about it !

The main thing would be the air traffic system if these goes into reality for everyone. There's also a danger of ground casualties due to air crashes.
I think it'd be very limited considering the risks involved. I hope flying cars tech evolve so that navigation gets easier.

The problem with Tesla is that they have only level 2 autonomy, fully autonomous cars require at least level 4.(Musk has been promising level 4 autonomy forever like Modi promising 5 trillion dollar economy).
Also people who say self driving cars are completely safe now ignore the sensor issues, low visibility driving issues and the ethical issues of who should be sued for accidents.

Its very interesting to see revolutions. In fact I believe Jetson One drone makes more sense that it can be used not only for fun but during disasters or example of pandemic for medical supplies etc without any additional infrastructures. But flying car will require a runway that means hmm I should land at Airport then drive home :) or Govt should provide multiple runway at every city with a traffic control tower :)

So, i think what Peter Ternstrom said about the jetson 1 is really a cool idea and we should see flying car thing as an adventure and it will be a fun activity to fly in the sky in a certain area.

and cost to theek hai jese jese or companies manufacture mai aegi to cost reduction bhi ho jaega or flow of monery bhi obiously mai bhi increments dekhne ko milenge.
but major problem in india is cables and poles of electricity and internet.

I agree with you and Elon Musk that "flying cars" aren't the future
This product is really dangerous and unnecessary if you think of it like a "Car" that can fly when you want
    That's a gimmick
But this same product is really good and promising if you look at it like a "helicopter" or "private jet" that can drive on roads when you want
    That makes much more sense
People who travel in private jets and choppers should actually be the on caring about this technology

Don't agree with this danger thing and accident thing
Cause there are so many road accidents anyways
Even on road you are no safe
So flying cars shouldn't be stopped on this danger argument
Just make is less accessible to general people
Make sure it's flown by only qualified pilots
I think of these flying cars as more of a chopper or private jet that is easy to handle compact and can continue on road without and interruptions

I think this is also a milestone in the advancement of technology. We are on the way to achieve better options other than flying cars that will be safer and cheaper. Automatic vehicles with emergency landing options will be developed and will be safer than man operated flying cars. Major problem for future automatic technology will be hacking and network failure.

Great video! Very informative as usual.. The worst part of the flying cars would be the safety of people and the traffic control mid air. If something goes wrong mid air, and the cars start dropping on people's heads, or on buildings, bridges, roads, it can be so much more fatal.

The last point of cost, I disagree on that. This is obviously for the rich class. And $500k to 1 million isnt a high cost considering other luxury road cars. The rich can afford a pilots license as well or have a dedicated pilot. Especially Multi national corporates where individual wealth is not required. So many luxury products thrive. This can too easily for its worth and ability to fly!!

Drive Bhai, content is awesome and informative.
In my opinion, we can build a futuristic city, where flying cars, take-off, landing, traffic system can be in place,
I feel following points need to addressed,
    1. pollution,
    2. Minimum risk,
    3. Provide a seperete path for the flying car, let there be a water body underneath the flying car, so that it land comfortably in case of emergency,
    4. emergency landing, service mechanism
    5. Only highly skilled drivers/pilots are allowed to use this.
    6. Upgrade from 2 seater to 5 seater.
    7. Lastmile connectivity is important , which can be achieved easily.

But it can be extremely useful if it's only used by hospitals , police and other emergency services
