Retired SWAT cop here, when I’m asked for firearms advice, by usually “first time” gun owners as to “what to have in the home”, I suggest a quality manufacturer such as S&W, Colt, Sig Sauer, HK, Ruger, and others, and that it’s reliable and accurate. Whether they choose a semiautomatic or a revolver, it needs to work, from the first shot to the last. The expense of a gun is irrelevant, because when the shooting starts, all that matters is who is left standing.
Dude, I really fucking appreciate your content, you’re so human, down to your daughter in the background, the one you protect over all, I fucking dig it bruh
I was just in a rural king (farm store) they had the that 2.0 in 40 full flat earth brown $299. I was thinking long and hard about trying one out. It was pretty sharp looking. 👍🏻
I like the look of that SD9, I have a Ruger SR9c that has the stainless upper and black frame. I like two tone guns as well, in fact I bought the FN Reflex in Black and FDE, then I swapped slides.👍
Decided to buy a 3.6 2.0 subcompact from Palmetto with the $75 rebate. Mine came with a range bag, glasses and muffs for $548 altogether but because of the rebate it’ll be $473 and I consider that a deal!
You have an SW9 also? Are there any big differences between the SD9/40 and the SW9/40? Then they came out with the SD9/40 VE versions and I have no clue what those differences are either.
@@spnfirearms Cool. Thanks. Would definitely appreciate it. I have some SW40 parts, but no SD40 parts to compare. Ordered them for a friend, so I won't have them long enough to acquire any SD9/40 parts to compare them. I think the SW9/40 has a much heavier trigger, because of the whole "NY Trigger" thing going on at the time... and I don't think the SD9/40 was made like that. (The SW9/40 have 2 heavy springs that push up on the trigger bar/sear to make them harder to pull). That's about all I know though.
@FlyDre-g9h i bought my S&W SD9VE in 2018 here in LA county and paid a lil over $400. I'm pissed cuz now they released the 2.0 for only $300 - $350 and it supposedly has a better trigger too.
I bought the sd9 2.0 just because I liked the way it looked compared to the other striker fired guns at my local store and the price (obviously). Ran good for me so far, probably have around 300rds through it. I'm from MA and did not like the single stack 10 rd mags it came with here but thats MA ig. I was able to find a store in my state selling preban sigma mags that were 17rds and I picked a couple up and they fit and run good. So funnily enough if you for whatever reason felt like you needed a one round upgrade on capacity with a slightly goofier baseplate that is an option.
Have you experienced the safety on the 2.0 to be too easy to engage or disengage? I know you don’t use it but does it concern you in regards to hitting it while drawing? Im between the CZ P10S and the 2.0 compact 3.6” barrel but im leaning to smith being the way to go for my first EDC/home defense. I’d prefer the safety off when carrying and on when stored, I don’t want to be worried about the safety actuating by itself. While researching I have seen in s&w forums that people have taken it to a gunsmith to have the safety detent filed and adjusted to make it a stiffer flick on the safety lever. If you put yourself in my shoes, do you think it’s worth all that?
I love smith and Wesson but absolutely hate the grip plugs. I tried to plug my 2.0 with a safety ( before the trigger change). And they would not stay in place. I could push them out off place with my finger even with the slide on. Wish they made frames with no cut outs
Its amusing how we complain about polymer sights yet the entire frame of the gun is.....polymer lol but i agree, steel sights are the way to go! I have been thinking about snagging one of these sd9 2.0 pistols
That’s a big complaint of mine and really my only complaint. The mags are way too expensive for these guns. They’re 40 and 50 bucks each. That’s ridiculous. I have more in the mags than I paid for the gun. They do make an extended mag for this gun. I think it’s a 30 rounder.
No the original was the sigma. I had one. It was a total abortion. They paid a large amount of money to Glock for copyright infringements. 28 yrs later I had to pick one up. For 299 it's a great gun. Worse thing is still the trigger. It's serviceable. Would I change it? Probably not. It has a nice feel an audible reset. But a long stroke and long reset. All in all its a very good gun
@monty-9269 Interesting, wouldn't have guessed with SPN commenting about the magazine feeling not as premium but then again the enhancement is to the value so kinda makes sense then.
I follow you on TH-cam and you're usually as you say "on point" . But I have to call you on a couple things. If you have time look for the other review on the SD 40 2.0 not VE. You're comparing apples and oranges dude. First off that is a plastic rear sight on the SD 9 2.0 not VE. I Don't want to call you a Glock fan boy,but you seem to be partial to Glocks. So you should know that stock Glocks come with plastic sights. Like I told the other guy you can't compare a $299 gun to a $4 - 600 handgun. The trigger shoe on the SD is the same as the newer Smiths, it's the internals that make it crunchy. I had a SD 40 VE,replaced the sights, recoil spring and the trigger shoe all for just over $100. I polished the internals and the gun ran flawlessly. Don't be to hard on this budget gun,it was my EDC for 2 years.
I will,it looked so real with your logo.Said I won a Glock 27 just needed to pay shipping. Thanks for you content man.I watch you all the time love that your a hard working family man.
Spin, did you know your cameras sound cut out when you drop a slide?
Yes! I have a new mic on the way! This one is giving up on me. respect and thank you!

I look forward to seeing your videos every day
I appreciate that man. Lots more to come, thank you and respect
I have the M&P 9 4" barrel and the SD9. I shoot the M&P much better, but love the price point on the SD.
Fair enough! Respect
My man 💪🏼 Thanks for this one!
No problem man, thank you for the support and respect

You kept it too real through this whole video, glad I subbed 👌🏼💯

I would like to see you guys test a S&W SD40 2.0, they did introduce them
Glock 43x with shield mags vs Glock 19 would be pretty cool
I got you! Respect
@@spnfirearms I second this
Both of these are fantastic options!
Speaking buying ammo I see more 40 and 45 and 9 always out I’m definitely bout get me 40 soon want a 27 but thinking bout s&w in 40 sc
Yes exactly. During the pandemic .40 was more plentiful. It’s always on the shelves, more powerful and just a tad bit more expensive. respect
@@spnfirearms facts I buy ammo in bulk now anyways cheaper
You can put an M&P rear sight on it. Even tho you should do that upgrade it's still worth it for the price
The sub compact metal frame looks sick !!!

I dont. And if I noticed that as well. Not sure as to why or what the history is but I’ll dig into it tonight because that’s interesting

How much you pay for that 40!!??
@@lopezdad30 I only paid $350.00
@FlyDre-g9h that's a steal!! Sux living in California where handguns are so heavily regulated and over priced. 😒

Too many videos of a dead trigger on the SD 2.0.

Even for EDC??!!
