A common misunderstanding is that Tesla doesn't do any marketing. PR (which Tesla uses heavily) or the sneak peaks of cars on highways is all marketing, Elon showing Jay Leno the Cybertruck... all marketing. Nothing is done by chance by companies like Tesla and they are master marketing. They may not do PAID adverts... but they certainly do marketing.

My family's company keeps track of how all our customers hear about us. We simply ask them when taking down their info. 50% are referrals, 10% return customers. 10% are from advertisements in the paper. 20% are Google and Facebook. 10% are neighbors, people who see our truck on a job and stop or run into us at gas station or friend of a friend/family.
