I watched this when it first came out and it made me realise how fit and how much training Taehyung did to get into the SDT. It also made me realise after watching what the training is in the Korean Military Services why so many men in Korea are so fit !!!!
Absolutely agree - and I know the opposite side. German here: When my big brother and his friends finished their military duties, they came back overweight. My brother told me, they had nothing to do and the food was shitty. My Korean friends who went through their military training, were all super buff when they returned...
The test in this video is not a criterion for passing, but rather a test to see if you have the basic stamina to take the UDT TEST. In fact, even if they pass that standard, more than half of them give up. I served in the Korean Air Force, but my high school classmate actually applied to become a UDT noncommissioned officer but gave up.
This series where you're covering the KE uni students 4 days in the Korean Military has been the absolute BEST. Thank you so much for covering them! We all love these guys a lot, but it's great to learn from an actual Marine viewpoint. I grew up on a Navy Base, but I am a civilian, and the base was in the Mojave Desert.
Best part is knowing this is just the prerequisite to see if you can test. Love that Dave did so well and Josh got the challenge coin-hyungs showin' out. Damn I can float for days-well it's easier now 'cause I'm a twig at this point-but once I learned that I was all good.
Boy that martial arts analogy is so real. I did taekwondo for somewhere around 6 years (could’ve kept going longer, but y’know, life) and my grand master, who’s well known in the Korean and American taekwondo world, wouldn’t let you even test for the next belt until HE approved and thought you were capable. Forget what the other masters and instructors thought. I ended at a 2nd degree black belt but we often did competitions and I specialized in sparring, so when I would go against other black belts…yeah. You could notice the quality difference pretty quickly.
You should react to when they were high school students and learned Tae Kwon Do (Korea's national martial art) from a 2x Olympian. Harvey and Jayden did REALLY WELL
I really want to hear Roscoe reaction his reaction to Jin interview on weverse, he talk about his time on the militar, about his partners and how he took care for the young guys but the seniors took care for him as well
I remember in physical 100 S2 the runner-up used that gravity tip to assist with the weighted squats. He just dropped as fast as he could so he wouldn't have to bear the weight on the way down
@39:40 I’m pretty sure they gave Josh a coin, not a badge or pin. Often times higher ranking enlisted members and officers will hand them out for occasions when someone goes above and beyond or they did something special (i.e. Josh winning the most points in the test).
Please tell me your chat has told you about the previous series this was based on. The twins series (same channel) was about the joining the commandos. i think you'd love it 💜
I was a Korean soldier. The acceptance criteria in the video is the minimum score you have to perform. In order to pass the UDT selection, you may have to get a perfect score in all fields. Here, the perfect score standard is about twice the minimum pass standard.
Some people in the chat are talking about the Notch in Dog Tags. It's so you can't insert it upside down in the Imprinting machines the military uses, not for putting between a fallen soldiers teeth...
It makes sense I mean most people will say “oh that won’t work the Jedi have the force so they’ll be able to tell” but they’re off balance and afraid so they won’t be able to tell easily with the force….. How ever their voice being the same one of every soldier they fought alongside with for 3 years will be a pretty good sign of who they are
My father joined the Parabats because he was afraid of heights and wanted to prove he could do it. He was under-age and had to get his parents permission. His mom said no, so he asked his dad (without telling him his mom had said no) Earned his wings, then never had to jump again.
If your liking this serias you should check out on they did 4 years ago called British twins go training with the Korean army commandos. There is 6 episodes in total
My daughter was a member of Team GB in a minor sport. She worked hard to get to wear the track suit but then someone in the team lent their uniform to a friend doing the sport and she wore it at a competition. Not a huge thing but still very annoying.
When I was regularly swimming (my teacher was encouraging me to join a team-I didn't want to, but I did train like I was on one) I think I could have done the swim test with some difficulty but pass. But now? I'd do SO badly on that if I hadn't been training up for it for at least a few months first.
The likely reason Josh is good at the fitness test cuz of the twin brothers known as Rev. Chris and Major Charles, of the British Armed Forces. In which they were invited to compete against the Korean Army team. Also Rev Chris is married to Lizzie (Ollie's wife's sister) named, Jenny (Chris' wife). These episodes are also very good and they also trade MRE as well. There is another channel called Giggle in which they invite ex. North Korean army men and women to try South Korean and American MRE vice versa.
17-18 I would have passed all BUT the pullup and the rescue lift I'd have failed on the time, I know it would have taken me too long to lift (6'3 145lb). I would have wrecked the swim and flotation, I could swim the length of a pool that size on one breath back then. You get in a rhythm with the float it becomes much simpler. We'd do that in lessons regularly, it became routine.
As far as wearing medals in the UK is concerned, people can wear 'family' medals on the right hand side of their coat/jacket. You wear the medals 'you' have earned on the left. On Remembrance Sunday the mothers, fathers, siblings and children of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice are honoured for their own sacrifice. They are entitled to wear 'their' medals. As far as I can tell, the 'Stolen Valor' movement started in the USA because Walter Mitty characters were turning up to military parades pretending to have served, or trying to get a discount in shops as a veteran. But now, some equally abject nonentities will have a go at a kid who is fishing in his big brother's old combat jacket! Josh could wear that badge on a hat, or T-shirt and it would be a talking piece (over here). "Where did you get that from, mate?"... and as long as he didn't try to pretend to have actually served... "Oh, interesting!". Respect is key. .
Don't think you supposed to break the persons leg first than try to pick them up. Most of these guys didn't follow instructions especially Josh which was surprising who started the step on the leg technique.
yeah i agree some of your comments a few korea training is a little bit ridiculous, i had done for 21months, 1/3 of time for volunteer to civil authorities , 1/3 of time for diciplines ,1/3 of forcing to high ranker's personal errand , that is how i got experience , training time is not important for them , so.... sometimes the detail is unqualified
Love that Dave beat all the "kids" in the swim. He was pretty confident, so he must swim regularly "IRL".
I watched this when it first came out and it made me realise how fit and how much training Taehyung did to get into the SDT. It also made me realise after watching what the training is in the Korean Military Services why so many men in Korea are so fit !!!!

Watching and learning more about the Korean military makes me happy your country is friends with the USA. And I really love Korean movies! Lol

Them carrying the dummy killed me, and when Josh threw it down at the end of his turn I about died of laughter 😂😂😂 and you saying “and he’s dead”
Look how far you’ve come “so this guy is Josh?” Please watch the boy’s first trip to Korea. So fun.
I love the KE series, try checking out the ones KE with the twins in the army too 😍
Those are epic!
I believe what Josh was given was a challenge coin. Which is awesome!! I’m loving this series, it’s a cool inside view.
Best part is knowing this is just the prerequisite to see if you can test. Love that Dave did so well and Josh got the challenge coin-hyungs showin' out. Damn I can float for days-well it's easier now 'cause I'm a twig at this point-but once I learned that I was all good.
It's great to rewatch the series with you, Ross. Your commentary is 👍🏻👍🏻. Hope you're doing well, bud!
👋

New fan of yours bc of this series

정확합니다 다음단계로 가기위한 가장 기초적인 체력 테스트
You NEED to watch the episodes with the twins! One of them is an actually army guy (idk ranks lol)
He's a Major.
You buried the extra fun fact that the other twin is a priest 😅
link?
yes!! this is only the selection exam, not the actusl test to become a seal
yeah it's what Roscoe said in the video
I remember in physical 100 S2 the runner-up used that gravity tip to assist with the weighted squats. He just dropped as fast as he could so he wouldn't have to bear the weight on the way down

It'd be great to see him react to Rev Chris and Major Charles.
Just in case I added it to the Discord section for requests
I love your reaction so much! 🥹
@Roscoe - I waited to watch this with you!!!!
Hope you enjoyed, Lonnie Ann!
Btw, they went to Hybe in the latest episode and you may want to check that out too!
I was a Korean soldier.

드디어 자막이 제대로 보이네요.
번역은 좀 엉망이지만 대충 이해는 합니다.
그래도 발전되어가는 모습을 보니 보기 좋습니다.^^
I like how Roscoe calls these gents “Cats” im stealing that slang, it sounds hard.
It makes sense I mean most people will say “oh that won’t work the Jedi have the force so they’ll be able to tell” but they’re off balance and afraid so they won’t be able to tell easily with the force…..

Our fitness test in the AF is 36 pushups, 55 sit-ups for my age group
My father joined the Parabats because he was afraid of heights and wanted to prove he could do it. He was under-age and had to get his parents permission. His mom said no, so he asked his dad (without telling him his mom had said no) Earned his wings, then never had to jump again.

i will be waiting for the day when @roscoe finds the koreanenglishman's twins series. a priest and a british soldier goes to a military base.
On the fireman carry test, it seemed most if not all didnt follow the technique of the demonstrator to pick up the dummy 😂😂😂😂
문제가.. 저게다가아니라는거니.. 해군부사관출신에다 정보통신직별이라 UDT교육장바로옆에있어서 훈련하는거 한번씩봤는데 ... 저건 진짜 노는거에요
정말처절합니다.

Since that now you've have memorise the all boys names you've become a official Korean Englishman fan. Well done buddy 👍😁

The swimming pool is super deep and has a stair down to the bottom...is it for specific training?
12:52 did you mean 102 minutes (over 1.5 hours) ?!?! Or 102 sit-ups…
I wonder how much advise Josh got from Commando Charles before this series.
The likely reason Josh is good at the fitness test cuz of the twin brothers known as Rev. Chris and Major Charles, of the British Armed Forces. GUYSSS!!!!!!!
Can we get Roscoe to react to Physical 100?
It's so funny that they can't properly carry the dummy 🤣🤦♀️
not for nothing, though, josh actually works out. i'm pretty sure.

You have to see the Twins on Korea series. They also went to a base and one is a priest the other one is a UK Army Major KWMXKWODNWKDK

react a new song of KEY from SHINEE ‘ Tongue tied ’
@ThissRoscoe 🫶🏻💓💓
Doing sit ups like that is so bad for your lower back. More your psoas muscles (hip flexor) doing the work than the abs, not their job.
Huh
Not sure which sport Bobby plays but for someone who plays sports he's not fit.
