It seems that Navy wants all of our 6 major shipyards to be able to build bigger warships. For long term capability build up.
As goa shipyard doesn't have any experience in this regards so they gave this 2 ship contract to them to absorb the skill.
One more interesting thing to note is the proposed configuration of 'Next generation Corvette' places it almost in the same class as talwar in terms of displacement, armaments and better than talwar when it comes to electronics.

So do you believe that the Shivalik class frigate which uses a single arm launcher for SHTIL 1 is similar to the 24 VLS equipped SHTIL of the new Talwar class frigate?
Talwar class fregetM2EM radar is considered quite capable and the russia is also upgrading OLD battlecruisers and destroyers with the same radar.
Even China is still using these type of radars in its Type 054 frigates ( china operate 30+ type054 frigate )

@Defence matrix- I have a doubt. When there are three aircraft carriers, we anticipate one would be in maintenance and two available (as they have long duration overhauls) However that is not the case for the other warships in the carrier battle group (they have shorter maintenace stops). So can we not run with three carrier two CBG model.
Asking as often the argument made against purchase of third carrier is that we have to spend to purchase additional submarines and warships to support the third carrier.
    Please enlighten. Thank you

Today Indian Navy, no doubt about it.
A stronger Navy does not you need all the same numbers , which the three other super powers possess today in the global Naval force.
There are many things to consider.
How much combat readiness is our Navy?
Indegenisation and Modernisation , has it been done?
Combat aircraft readiness inside Indian Navy?
    Various cruise missiles inducted?
    Nueclear Submarines ?
The above factors influences our fleets global might and prowess.
Indian Navy had been time tested, Navy had passed in all the previous wars including opium war against Chinese Navy before the first and the second world wars.

@@mnd7381 I'm not talking about ship made in Russia. I'm talking about our own indigenous frigates and destroyers. If we start to develop our own system it'll take a lot of time and money considering our work culture. So it'll be better to get mk-41 vls from US

@@mnd7381 BrahMos can easily fit in mk41 it'll just need some modifications. And second thing, as I said considering our work culture and bureaucracy, it'll take a lot of time to develop our own system. But still it's always better to have an indigenous system instead of foreign one.

    • @mnd7381
      @mnd7381 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@Warship_Warriors brahmos is 3 times heavier and much bigger. That's why our ships carry less of that. And no, Brahmos already has functional VLS systems, so does MRSAMs. They need to just make an universal one to fit everything. It's not rocket science.
I'm not sure about this tho, but US has mostly hot launch missiles, and not every Indian missile is hot launch. Based on Russian ones, they are mostly cold launch. The work it'll take to modify Mark 41 for all these, with a little more work they can make an Indian universal VLS. Won't that be better?

Why is India Paying Russia to build Indian warships?
Essentially we are wasting foreign exchange AND sending jobs abroad for something that should be done in India.
If existing shipyards are unable, it is clear that India needs MORE shipyards and many more trained workers, especially skilled welders and electrical technicians who dont need college degrees.
Even if it costs 2X what it costs in Russia - India must build its own warships and keep these skilled workers in India, our yards active and our taxes going to support Indian citizens.

We can't catch them atleast in numbers , we don't have money
20 trillion economy V/s 4.1 trillion , they are spending more than 3 times than us in defence , but at least we are trying and giving our best in defence .
