One of the best things I like about Maru is his ability to defend against counter attacks/harassment. He definitely didn't do that this series. Sad to see. I hope to see him in better form for the next GSL :(

TY is seeming so strong now, and Maru looks completely out of form. Rogue is the only Zerg I see being real competition for TY. But I'm talking in-form Rogue. Not losing to Scarlett cheese-rogue.
Nah, Maru isn't out of form. In the passed 1-2 weeks he's beaten Clem, Reynor and Cure. He just got bopped by Rogue. It happens. They aren't team mates anymore so Rogue didn't have to go easy on him. 👀
I don't know if Rogue was just too good or if Maru was just half-assing his games against Rogue. The way he played wasn't typical of him. You can't just write it off as "Oh, Rogue was just too good for him." or "Rogue was in optimal form, what did you expect?" Just no, I'm not a fan of either of them if you think this is why I'm reacting, but there's just no way that this is how this match-up was supposed to look like. 1st game when he saw that spine crawler and that many queens, should have been more than enough indication that an early push like that was bound to fail, and should have backed off to defend his base. Instead he pushed through with it, lost everything save for a lone medivac and 2 marines, and not only left his base completely defenseless, but let the zerglings through by not raising the supply depots, resulting in an SCV massacre. 2nd game he was way too aggressive and losing his units for no value at all. Instead of pulling back and regrouping, he just kept poking Rogue not doing any damage and losing 90% of his hit squads each time. He was essentially making himself fall behind Rogue, until eventually Rogue just came out with a much larger Zerg army, and having wasted so many units in his useless little skirmishes, didn't have the numbers to deal with it and lost. Then finally in the 3rd game, he didn't finish the goddamn supply depot wall in his natural expansion, it was always missing one more supply depot to finish the wall, thereby allowing not once, but twice zergling incursions that decimated his economy. If he had just finished that, he might have had a fighting chance despite how sloppy he was with the hellions and medivac drop-ins. He just kept accumulating avoidable damages until eventually the losses were too great and Rogue just had too much of a lead against him and simply overwhelmed him at the end.
I guess Maru's performance was because he has a shoulder injure, team nv just sent an announcent today about that. Hope he recovers and gets back in top form as he is.
Unless he was in so much pain it killed his concentration, that's not a good explanation. He literally left his base open for lings to raid. That he can't micro so well with a shoulder injury makes sense but forgetting to slapping down a depo to block ling runbys? That should not have happened.

Could you lengthen the videos? Ive seen that before and it helps ALOT since its to easy otherwise to guess the winner of the matches based on how long it is.

First it was "Banelings OP" Now it's "Lurkers OP". Get a fucking grip you Gold League scrubs. The Zerg, or any of their damn units, are not OP. It just depends on the skills of the player controlling the Zerg and the skill of their opponent. Sometimes the gap in skills makes it look like they're OP, when really they're just that good. Besides, Maru threw the games hard, he wasn't even trying.
Maru never gives 100% in Super Tournament. He yolo'd a bunch of stuff that works 99.99% of the time on ladder it wasn't his usual preparation especially against ROGUE.
That's still disrespectful of him. Why bother joining a tournament you had no interest in the first place. Not playing your best against an opponent is the greatest insult a pro player could do to another. Like that one time when a zerg player right from the start of the match just threw all of his drones at the protoss (or terran, I don't quite remember) and when it got wiped out he simply called GG and surrendered. The protoss player got offended and was seriously pissed off, as well as the commentators and audience too. If I remember right he got reprimanded for his unprofessional and insulting conduct.
@@jome2284 There's a world of difference between the two instances, I highly doubt maru intended any disrespect to rogue. You gotta remember not every player can be at their best. Maru is a prime example because this kind of series isn't exactly uncommon for him.

If he goes all out a prepares, that is a ton of time and stress - plus he reveals his builds. If he just goes in plays standard or build he's known for, then he reveals nothing and get's too see what his opponents are working on.

Rogue has some of the best late game Zerg play in the world, everyone tries to finish him in early-mid game, even Maru.
