Michelle's line was sold back to her by L'Oreal and it's now owned by Ipsy. A reason for the sale was because the line didn't do as well as expected or there was not much market for it. Marketing forgot that a lot of Michelle's fans are teens without a lot of spending money and to price the line as a luxury brand? Where are these teens going to get the money to purchase Em Cosmetics?

Thanks for the honest review. I didn't think you were rude at all. I love Michelle Phan and have been disappointed so many of the reviews of her products were negative. Frankly, there is NO WAY I would spend $38 for a little compact of eyeshadows.

i think Michelle spent too much time energy and money on the packaging, and the look of her store and products, and not the quality of the products... don't get me wrong, I love Michelle, but this is just my opinion on her cosmetic line..

I like the packaging I think it's really cute for on the go and I like the idea of them being like a z palette. I also like her lip palette I think its really innovative however.....I think her eyeshadows were geared more towards people of fair complexions like herself.
Your review was very, very kind. From other reviews I've seen, the em products just aren't on par with other similarly-priced cosmetics. I'd much rather have my Too Faced eyeshadow palette with 9 shadows for $36 ($4 per shadow) than one of the em eye shadow palettes with just 6 shadows for $28 (nearly $5 per shadow). I'd actually prefer one of Wet 'n Wild's 8-pan shadows for $4.99 over the em shadows. The pigmentation of WnW shadows (except for one or two palettes) is amazing!

Not surprised re: WnW... I'm not much into makeup, but from the few reviews I've read, they're a really good, affordable kind of makeup. I like lipstick a lot, but I don't like to spend a bunch of money on it. WnW is still pretty cheap but stays on wayyyy better than some other cheap lipsticks I've gotten, even with a really dark pink/purple that I have.
I personally ain't a really big Michelle Phan fan but I looked in a bit closer when EM Cosmetics was realised. To be honest, I don't really think her cosmetics are overpriced or cheap It Just depends on different peoples views. Michelle Phan said that her EM cosmetics is inspired for everybody and she looks down onto trying to help teens and making her makeup great for starters but not every teen has tuns and tuns of money for her makeup I mean $75 for one of her palettes, the UD Vice 2 Palette approxmiatly around the same size and has completly different colours I know but is about $42 or lower. I Just think for eyeshadow thats a lot to ask! For a lip balm it is $15 when you could get a nivea lip butter for $2 and it works great and can achieve the same results. I Just don't think EM Cosmetics is as special as it's hyped up to be and is far too expencive for a majority of teens and it's really hard to justify $75 on a palette that you don't know what it's like pigmentation like or how they're going to last and perform on your eyes and if your going to use EVERY single colour in the palette. I am fairly dissappointed with EM cosmetics. But I admire Michelle Phan as a business woman and a great success, no disrespect in regards. :)
Michelle being the exceptional visionary with such an artist touch to everything, I expected more from the packaging. But really congrats to her for starting from youtube to having her own "luxury" makeup brand.

well, IT IS her first makeup line...we can't expect it all to be so perfect can we??? plus, maybe after knowing about all this feedback, she will upgrade it or something...I haven't tried the makeup yet, but yes...I can already tell it's probably not the most worthy of buying so far...so far...
still...another thing to consider is that Michelle doesn't do make up like most beauty gurus do...most of them are very girly, sometimes they make us want to put on too much..and michelle isn't necessarily like that, she does more of like natural, calm type of make up..maybe her makeup line is supposed to be used a certain way, not like we always expect it...
it has nothing to do with michelle as a person, her makeup skills, whatever; the main issue is that her products are being marketed and priced as high-end ($24 for a contour stick, $30 for a blush palette, etc.), but many have proven to be drugstore/subpar quality at best.

Em is not a luxury brand or a brand worth buying. I took advantage of the 50% off sale during Black Friday, so I spent well over $350 on junk . The cc cream is messy and runny. The chiaroscuro that everyone is talking about is too creamy and doesn't hold . The eyeshadow palettes look cheap and it's not long lasting color. Sheer lipstick is not sheer at all. The mascara was sorta ok. Im mostly angry about the life palettes, way too expensive not worth $5. I like Michelle but this line of cosmetics is not gonna last very long. Sorry, but just being honest .

Michelle phan is one of the biggest beauty gurus on TH-cam. If not the biggest. I feel like when she started her makeup line, everyone had high expectations for it to be amazing. Which it wasn't. (I'm not a hater btw) I think that over the years she will take her feedback and improve her makeup line and then 'em cosmetics' will become better than it is now :) it's only her first time soon something like this herself, so of course there will be issues. It will get better. Hopefully the prices will too :)

Wow I read the comments first before watching the video and there was a lot of negativity about Judy's review so I thought Judy must've somehow been "unfair" or "rude". But once I started watching the vid, I just kept waiting and waiting for a single "annoying" or "rude" comment from Judy but by the end of the video I was like wtf. She was just being honest the whole time. She hardly criticised the products. She only complained about the mascara which was evident that it sucked, and a lil bit about the intensity of the lipstick. Other than that?? My God some of these people who commented are so biased I feel like giving them a tight slap.
I would really want to see you review emm cosmetics waterliner since she raves about it. Honestly though, I don't really like the packaging, as in the plain white plastic cases for the makeup products. I'm a very practical person and bring my makeup every time I'm out. So, the white packaging will get very dirty and the plastic cases will crack. For a 'high ended' (I wouldn't call it high ended, rather just really expensive) product I would expect something better than a cheap plastic case and a store-brand equivalent product. In my opinion, I think emm cosmetics is overrated and over priced.
I recommend Sephora Retractable Waterliner (www.sephora.com/retractable-waterproof-eyeliner-P230234) as a really great option instead. High quality, and not overpriced.

Also, I like to layer on mascara as well. If Judy likes to apply her mascara like that and it smudges, then it's not the mascara for her, personally. Everyone's eyelashes are different. Don't get all defensive because she doesn't like it. She stayed professional and gave her honest opinion without bringing down Michelle... and Michelle is professional too, so she can take constructive criticism.
haha she was able to pull off purple eyeshadows and bright pink lipstick, OMG that set they gave her.. but I like Michelle Phan, I think she has earned her status for her hard work, AND Judy is such a darling
in my opinion I don't like the packaging so much. I think for a high end brand it looks more like make up for kids tbh. I didn't like the blush and bronzer, just because it doesn't match (in my opinion). The creamy contour and highlighter doesn't have a good pay off like u said. The colour of the highlighter has a lilac undertone or am I wrong? Seemes to me that the colours doesn't match either. Can't say anything bad about the eyeshadows, they seem good to me. Would love to see different colours on you. And last but not least the mascara was a disaster. There was no effect to your lashes (maybe just in camera). Beside the smudginess, did you notice a nice volume effect?

A lot of people have given bad reviews of the Em makeup line. Let's face it, it a fairly new line, they're probably working on improving it, and how do you think they improve it? As for the people saying it's crap and people getting mad at it, it's just their opinion. They can be a little bit more respectful about it, but it's their opinion. If you find them to work for you then that's fine. Though to be honest I think her products are more mid range now. Better prices than from Sephora and other high end brands. The packaging to me looks kind of sleek, and simple. Definitely it does stand out. The shadows seem pigmented to me( Maybe it depends on my skin color), though I am not much of a fan of the mascara I think I'll stick with my too faced and benefits they're real mascara. The lipsticks are fantastic to me and my dry lips. Basically what I am trying to say is that everyone has different opinions. Opinions aren't facts. If you judge a product without even trying it out then honestly I don't even know why you're even saying anything in the first place. There are good and bad things about this line, but just like it with every other brand. I actually loved how surprisingly honest Judy was. Just like she made clear in the beginning just because Michelle was her friend doesn't mean she was going to sugarcoat anything. I prefer these reviews over the ones where the person likes everything. Judy loved some things and hated others but if you think Judy was bashing michelle's line then just buy the products yourself and test them and make a review. No need to bash Judy for her opinion. I love all of Judy's reviews because she provides a claim evidence and reasoning behind her opinion. Lol.. If you don't prefer honesty then why are you watching a review. A review is supposed to be honest that's why its called A REVIEW.
I could feel Judy very, very, very carefully choosing her words when reviewing the products lol. I'm pretty sure all the trolls and haters commenting here aren't real itsjudytime fans, just stumbled upon the video since it's a review on the infamous Em Cosmetics line. Judy is so sweet and always gives the best, honest reviews. Judy and Michelle live VERY different lifestyles, Judy is a mother and has twins on the way (btw whoever commented Judy was obese... LOL. Guess all pregnant women are considered obese now) and I wouldn't be surprised if she's content with what she ALREADY has going for her. No need for the Dr. Pepper commercials. Mish is younger, has yet to start a family and is more of a business woman/makeup and style icon for a younger audience. They're totally different people with different lifestyles, it's almost impossible to say one is jealous of the other if their interests and target audiences are different to begin with. I watched Michelle since she first started and read her interview questions I'm very surprised with the pricing BC of her situation at home. You would think that it would be a reasonable price for everyone, but I guess things change. I love Michelle she's a great person and she's very down to earth, but I think the price is outrageous.

After you applied the sparkly eyeshadow add on, the shading of the eyeshadow became cheap looking. Wish they really sent you colors that complimented eachother.
I have the mascara. It is horrible! It makes me want to stay away from the whole line. You were very nice in your review. The line is very over priced especially for something just coming out that a lot of people don't know about yet.
It has the strangest formula and it isn't buildable at all! The brush doesn't grip to your lashes so you can put on coat after coat and there is no volume, no length, barely even color. It is so bad!
A great and very honest review! Constructive criticism and not just slating it. I personally think it's a very cheap looking line, reminds me of kids makeup that you would play with when you were younger. Price evidently doesn't reflect the quality and I think this video gives a very balanced and unbiased review!

the numbers are for placing other eyeshadows on the containers. believe it or not you can actually take out the circle eyeshadows and mix them up with other eyeshadows to make your own. for example, if you want to get a black eyeshadow, take it out and at the back of the container the black eyeshadow was in, for example number one, there is a corresponding number in an empty container you can put the black eyeshadow in so it fits perfectly. same with 2,3 and 4
This review is completely unbiased. She obviously went her off her opinions based on the experience with the products. And she told the truth. All these people say she way rude are crazy, acting insecure or defensive for Michelle Phan. Judy was sent these products from her actually company, she obviously wanted her opinion.
I think her products are wayyyyy too expensive. Especially coming from someone who was made famous for her use of drugstore products. I would love to try her products, but I'm not willing to spend $19 on a glitter topcoat plus probably $5 shipping. Anyone else feel the same?
Yeah I don't think I can spend 75 dollars on a eye shadow pallete. I would probably go to mac for that. Though if she has a sale or coupons then I might buy half of her life pallettes XD
i wouldnt waste money on buying the mascara or contour stick but i deff want the lipstick it looks long lasting and is alittle less then mac most importantly unlike mac it looks like it wont make my lips look all dry n crusty
I don't know if it was the lighting or what but I really liked the final look. The lipstick worked well with the eye shadow (after you softened the color). The contouring was very subtle which I think is the point of contouring...I'm sold!
First off I would never spend more than $10 on any makeup. There is alot of makeup out there that is great that cost less than an arm and a leg. All those colors I can get from WetNWild or even Cover Girl. I never have understood why people spend so much money on makeup. I love makeup and doing people's makeup. I just never liked how pricey some can be.

Emilnananaxo if you think clinique is the first to have different sized circle pans in a palette, think again. not even a fan of michelle, but that is really ridiculous to say that a palette style that has been done to death was plagiarized by her.
MAC is my preference. I tried EM, didn't like any of the products, and neither did my credit card. I can get better quality and variety with MAC without breaking the bank.
the're are numbers on it bcs you can remove the colors and put them in another packaging if you want. the numbers are to show you wich size it is so your sure it fits and doesn't break

I've tried her lipstick when MP had 20% sales and free shipping. Its texture is very smooth, rich and moisturizing, comparing the the revlon lip butter, I'd say the relvon has better texture. However, em lipstick lasts a lot longer. But in the end I returned it since the color didn't suit my face

I remember the life palettes running about $50-75USD. I was a Freshman at the time, so I couldn't afford this. In the end I just bought the It's Judy Time palette for $15USD, and had so much fun experimenting. Aside from BH Cosmetic, and the Pixi Cosmetics eyeshadow and lip palettes you need to come out with more! I love the things you create! They're perfectly priced and reasonable.
I've been watching Michelle for 3 years and I'm kinda disappointed in the line. I haven't tried it for myself yet, but it's just way over priced. I perfer the too faced or the naked pallets over it. I don't think the packaging looks all that special either... It looks like a child's makeup kit honestly. It is her first makeup line, and I get that it won't be perfect... I hope to try it out once it's a little cheaper though :)

People think Michelle has a say in the pricing. It's her line, but it's her line FOR Lancôme, which is a high end company. Michelle if anything is just a product consultant and spokesperson. That being said, Judy's review doesn't mean that the products are completely shit. Maybe they just don't agree with her skin type and don't have the qualities she'd like. I never bought anything from that line, mostly because the face stuff often doesn't come in dark enough colours for me (that's a whole other issue), but I won't say that they're all utter crap based on one review.
Loreal owns Lancôme. Em line is made for loreal. Although Lancôme is under loreal, quality of every brand under loreal will still differ from one another. So I think saying Em line is more expensive due to Lancôme, does not really link up.
Thank you so much for this review Judy. I LOVE Michelle's makeup tutorials and I am super excited for her success on this amazing cosmetic venture. However, as a woman of color, I was concerned about color variety and product performance on my very oily skin. In my business and as a You Tuber I spend a lot of time in front of lights and cameras and my makeup has to REALLY hold up for hours and SUPER perform, especially the eye makeup, blushes, powder and mascara. Because my lips are a darker hue, sometimes the opaque lipsticks 'look' sheer on me, so I don't mind a more opaque sheer as you received. However, for those prices I would expect a better performance overall. This video answered a lot of questions re. value vs. cost. There are brands as you know that are less expensive and definitely out perform. I would rather see the cost go into the product rather than the beautiful boxes.
I heard that originally her brand was own by L’Oréal then she bought it back and re-design the entire brand. It looks way different from now and I think is much better. Maybe you could check the new EM make up line?

Yep!! If that would have been any other high end brand she would have said "no way, its not worth it" like when the mascara was smudged everywhere and she said "wow" and was not impressed, but then followed it up with "but thats ok, its an easy fix" Are you kidding? If that was any other high end brand and for $25 the mascara smudged like that she would have said to look elsewhere. I get that it was awkward for her though. The lipstick was silly too, how is that sheer? Also, $38 for eyeshadow that is that unpigmented? It reminded me of Lancome palette shadows, they perform just as shitty. She does work with landcome so maybe its the same formula?
I agree! I love Judy's reviews but I could tell she was overthinking a lot of things she said. Like she didn't want to be completely honest. I figured it was because when Judy comes out with her own stuff she would want Michelle to like it and even promote them. So I guess its just clever business thinking.
I love your reviews on products. Very honest and to the point. You always test the product in real life and give a time to see how it works. That's very helpfull especially for people who have the same type of skin with yours :)
I didn't really like the color combo that Judy had from the eyeshadow packet (just for that particular palette though) and I agree with her when she said the majority of the price goes to packaging. High end product? I don't really think so but I guess it's a good starter kit... just the price though.
I'm in Australia and we have to pay through the roof for cosmetics. I'm scared to imagine how much I'd have to pay to order these products! For those prices it's a safer bet to stick to Mac or other high end brands that are a sure thing for quality.

Even though I know I am better off getting one of the Naked palettes than one of the large palettes by Em cosmetics I kinda want to try her brand. I havent even though I tell myself to try it. I just dont want to spend that much money because I am probably the only one that thinks that most of her products pop and look better in lighter skin. For example that contour stick is to light. If a lot of money is being charged for it they should at least give you more product since I will probably have to build it up a lot to look like contour thats just my thoughts.
i actually think that the packaging looks cheap & the cost is WAY too high, seeing as teenagers watch her videos and i doubt theyd have lots of money to spend on makeup

Michelle's line was sold back to her by L'Oreal and it's now owned by Ipsy. A reason for the sale was because the line didn't do as well as expected or there was not much market for it. Marketing forgot that a lot of Michelle's fans are teens without a lot of spending money and to price the line as a luxury brand? Where are these teens going to get the money to purchase Em Cosmetics?

I like the packaging I think it's really cute for on the go and I like the idea of them being like a z palette. I also like her lip palette I think its really innovative however.....I think her eyeshadows were geared more towards people of fair complexions like herself.

Your review was very, very kind. From other reviews I've seen, the em products just aren't on par with other similarly-priced cosmetics. I'd much rather have my Too Faced eyeshadow palette with 9 shadows for $36 ($4 per shadow) than one of the em eye shadow palettes with just 6 shadows for $28 (nearly $5 per shadow). I'd actually prefer one of Wet 'n Wild's 8-pan shadows for $4.99 over the em shadows. The pigmentation of WnW shadows (except for one or two palettes) is amazing!

Not surprised re: WnW... I'm not much into makeup, but from the few reviews I've read, they're a really good, affordable kind of makeup. I like lipstick a lot, but I don't like to spend a bunch of money on it. WnW is still pretty cheap but stays on wayyyy better than some other cheap lipsticks I've gotten, even with a really dark pink/purple that I have.

I personally ain't a really big Michelle Phan fan but I looked in a bit closer when EM Cosmetics was realised. To be honest, I don't really think her cosmetics are overpriced or cheap It Just depends on different peoples views. Michelle Phan said that her EM cosmetics is inspired for everybody and she looks down onto trying to help teens and making her makeup great for starters but not every teen has tuns and tuns of money for her makeup I mean $75 for one of her palettes, the UD Vice 2 Palette approxmiatly around the same size and has completly different colours I know but is about $42 or lower. I Just think for eyeshadow thats a lot to ask! For a lip balm it is $15 when you could get a nivea lip butter for $2 and it works great and can achieve the same results. I Just don't think EM Cosmetics is as special as it's hyped up to be and is far too expencive for a majority of teens and it's really hard to justify $75 on a palette that you don't know what it's like pigmentation like or how they're going to last and perform on your eyes and if your going to use EVERY single colour in the palette. I am fairly dissappointed with EM cosmetics. But I admire Michelle Phan as a business woman and a great success, no disrespect in regards. :)

still...another thing to consider is that Michelle doesn't do make up like most beauty gurus do...most of them are very girly, sometimes they make us want to put on too much..and michelle isn't necessarily like that, she does more of like natural, calm type of make up..maybe her makeup line is supposed to be used a certain way, not like we always expect it...
her makeup tutorial isn't really calm... majority is artsy, club like, cosplay...
it has nothing to do with michelle as a person, her makeup skills, whatever; the main issue is that her products are being marketed and priced as high-end ($24 for a contour stick, $30 for a blush palette, etc.), but many have proven to be drugstore/subpar quality at best.

Em is not a luxury brand or a brand worth buying. I took advantage of the 50% off sale during Black Friday, so I spent well over $350 on junk . The cc cream is messy and runny. The chiaroscuro that everyone is talking about is too creamy and doesn't hold . The eyeshadow palettes look cheap and it's not long lasting color. Sheer lipstick is not sheer at all. The mascara was sorta ok. Im mostly angry about the life palettes, way too expensive not worth $5. I like Michelle but this line of cosmetics is not gonna last very long. Sorry, but just being honest .

I think that over the years she will take her feedback and improve her makeup line and then 'em cosmetics' will become better than it is now :) it's only her first time soon something like this herself, so of course there will be issues. It will get better. Hopefully the prices will too :)

Wow I read the comments first before watching the video and there was a lot of negativity about Judy's review so I thought Judy must've somehow been "unfair" or "rude". But once I started watching the vid, I just kept waiting and waiting for a single "annoying" or "rude" comment from Judy but by the end of the video I was like wtf. She was just being honest the whole time. She hardly criticised the products. She only complained about the mascara which was evident that it sucked, and a lil bit about the intensity of the lipstick. Other than that??

Honestly though, I don't really like the packaging, as in the plain white plastic cases for the makeup products. I'm a very practical person and bring my makeup every time I'm out. So, the white packaging will get very dirty and the plastic cases will crack. For a 'high ended' (I wouldn't call it high ended, rather just really expensive) product I would expect something better than a cheap plastic case and a store-brand equivalent product.
In my opinion, I think emm cosmetics is overrated and over priced.
I recommend Sephora Retractable Waterliner (www.sephora.com/retractable-waterproof-eyeliner-P230234) as a really great option instead. High quality, and not overpriced.

Also, I like to layer on mascara as well. If Judy likes to apply her mascara like that and it smudges, then it's not the mascara for her, personally. Everyone's eyelashes are different. Don't get all defensive because she doesn't like it. She stayed professional and gave her honest opinion without bringing down Michelle... and Michelle is professional too, so she can take constructive criticism.

in my opinion I don't like the packaging so much. I think for a high end brand it looks more like make up for kids tbh. I didn't like the blush and bronzer, just because it doesn't match (in my opinion). The creamy contour and highlighter doesn't have a good pay off like u said. The colour of the highlighter has a lilac undertone or am I wrong? Seemes to me that the colours doesn't match either. Can't say anything bad about the eyeshadows, they seem good to me. Would love to see different colours on you. And last but not least the mascara was a disaster. There was no effect to your lashes (maybe just in camera). Beside the smudginess, did you notice a nice volume effect?

I actually loved how surprisingly honest Judy was. Just like she made clear in the beginning just because Michelle was her friend doesn't mean she was going to sugarcoat anything. I prefer these reviews over the ones where the person likes everything. Judy loved some things and hated others but if you think Judy was bashing michelle's line then just buy the products yourself and test them and make a review. No need to bash Judy for her opinion. I love all of Judy's reviews because she provides a claim evidence and reasoning behind her opinion. Lol.. If you don't prefer honesty then why are you watching a review. A review is supposed to be honest that's why its called A REVIEW.
I could feel Judy very, very, very carefully choosing her words when reviewing the products lol. The products seem very pretty, but I think the price is far too high for a beginner's brand, and I feel like a lot of people can't afford. Quality-wise, it reminds me of elf (which is one of my favorite brands), but not one that is worth the prices.

I'm pretty sure all the trolls and haters commenting here aren't real itsjudytime fans, just stumbled upon the video since it's a review on the infamous Em Cosmetics line. Judy is so sweet and always gives the best, honest reviews. Judy and Michelle live VERY different lifestyles, Judy is a mother and has twins on the way (btw whoever commented Judy was obese... LOL. Guess all pregnant women are considered obese now) and I wouldn't be surprised if she's content with what she ALREADY has going for her. No need for the Dr. Pepper commercials. Mish is younger, has yet to start a family and is more of a business woman/makeup and style icon for a younger audience. They're totally different people with different lifestyles, it's almost impossible to say one is jealous of the other if their interests and target audiences are different to begin with. Anyways, i'll end it there. LOVE YOU JUDY, can't wait for the twins to come :) and thanks for uploading so consistently recently!

I watched Michelle since she first started and read her interview questions I'm very surprised with the pricing BC of her situation at home. You would think that it would be a reasonable price for everyone, but I guess things change. I love Michelle she's a great person and she's very down to earth, but I think the price is outrageous.
her price is outrageous? are you kidding me? you probably only buy drugstore makeups and never buy anything from sephora. Em cosmetics price ranger is actually cheaper than sephora price!!! For example: her lipstick is $16 i think, while for all brands at sephora sell lipstick at least 20 bucks!

Yep! In one of her videos, someone who works at L'Oreal who's involved with all of their high end brands said Em is a luxury brand. Besides, it's pretty expensive! :)
After you applied the sparkly eyeshadow add on, the shading of the eyeshadow became cheap looking. Wish they really sent you colors that complimented eachother.
I have the mascara. It is horrible! It makes me want to stay away from the whole line. You were very nice in your review. The line is very over priced especially for something just coming out that a lot of people don't know about yet.

It has the strangest formula and it isn't buildable at all! The brush doesn't grip to your lashes so you can put on coat after coat and there is no volume, no length, barely even color. It is so bad!
A great and very honest review! Constructive criticism and not just slating it. I personally think it's a very cheap looking line, reminds me of kids makeup that you would play with when you were younger. Price evidently doesn't reflect the quality and I think this video gives a very balanced and unbiased review!
It's a bit expensive I know but you guys have to understand that it's a Loreal product line and she worked really hard on it so don't give hate to her :)
the numbers are for placing other eyeshadows on the containers. believe it or not you can actually take out the circle eyeshadows and mix them up with other eyeshadows to make your own. for example, if you want to get a black eyeshadow, take it out and at the back of the container the black eyeshadow was in, for example number one, there is a corresponding number in an empty container you can put the black eyeshadow in so it fits perfectly. same with 2,3 and 4
This review is completely unbiased. She obviously went her off her opinions based on the experience with the products. And she told the truth. All these people say she way rude are crazy, acting insecure or defensive for Michelle Phan. Judy was sent these products from her actually company, she obviously wanted her opinion.
I think her products are wayyyyy too expensive. Especially coming from someone who was made famous for her use of drugstore products. I would love to try her products, but I'm not willing to spend $19 on a glitter topcoat plus probably $5 shipping. Anyone else feel the same?
Yeah I don't think I can spend 75 dollars on a eye shadow pallete. I would probably go to mac for that. Though if she has a sale or coupons then I might buy half of her life pallettes XD

i wouldnt waste money on buying the mascara or contour stick but i deff want the lipstick it looks long lasting and is alittle less then mac most importantly unlike mac it looks like it wont make my lips look all dry n crusty
I don't know if it was the lighting or what but I really liked the final look. The lipstick worked well with the eye shadow (after you softened the color). The contouring was very subtle which I think is the point of contouring...I'm sold!
First off I would never spend more than $10 on any makeup. There is alot of makeup out there that is great that cost less than an arm and a leg. All those colors I can get from WetNWild or even Cover Girl. I never have understood why people spend so much money on makeup.
I love makeup and doing people's makeup. I just never liked how pricey some can be.

Emilnananaxo if you think clinique is the first to have different sized circle pans in a palette, think again. not even a fan of michelle, but that is really ridiculous to say that a palette style that has been done to death was plagiarized by her.
MAC is my preference. I tried EM, didn't like any of the products, and neither did my credit card. I can get better quality and variety with MAC without breaking the bank.

I've tried her lipstick when MP had 20% sales and free shipping. Its texture is very smooth, rich and moisturizing, comparing the the revlon lip butter, I'd say the relvon has better texture. However, em lipstick lasts a lot longer. But in the end I returned it since the color didn't suit my face

I remember the life palettes running about $50-75USD. I was a Freshman at the time, so I couldn't afford this. In the end I just bought the It's Judy Time palette for $15USD, and had so much fun experimenting. Aside from BH Cosmetic, and the Pixi Cosmetics eyeshadow and lip palettes you need to come out with more! I love the things you create! They're perfectly priced and reasonable.
I've been watching Michelle for 3 years and I'm kinda disappointed in the line. I haven't tried it for myself yet, but it's just way over priced. I perfer the too faced or the naked pallets over it. I don't think the packaging looks all that special either... It looks like a child's makeup kit honestly. It is her first makeup line, and I get that it won't be perfect... I hope to try it out once it's a little cheaper though :)

I'm glad you caught that too! I was surprised that she didn't even mention/ realize that herself D: Idk... this EM line doesn't seem like it's all that it's cut out to be.
People think Michelle has a say in the pricing. It's her line, but it's her line FOR Lancôme, which is a high end company. Michelle if anything is just a product consultant and spokesperson.
That being said, Judy's review doesn't mean that the products are completely shit. Maybe they just don't agree with her skin type and don't have the qualities she'd like.
I never bought anything from that line, mostly because the face stuff often doesn't come in dark enough colours for me (that's a whole other issue), but I won't say that they're all utter crap based on one review.
Plus she said she liked a few of the products. Like with every make-up brand, there are some products that hit and some that miss.

Loreal owns Lancôme. Em line is made for loreal. Although Lancôme is under loreal, quality of every brand under loreal will still differ from one another. So I think saying Em line is more expensive due to Lancôme, does not really link up.
Thank you so much for this review Judy. I LOVE Michelle's makeup tutorials and I am super excited for her success on this amazing cosmetic venture. However, as a woman of color, I was concerned about color variety and product performance on my very oily skin. In my business and as a You Tuber I spend a lot of time in front of lights and cameras and my makeup has to REALLY hold up for hours and SUPER perform, especially the eye makeup, blushes, powder and mascara. Because my lips are a darker hue, sometimes the opaque lipsticks 'look' sheer on me, so I don't mind a more opaque sheer as you received. However, for those prices I would expect a better performance overall. This video answered a lot of questions re. value vs. cost. There are brands as you know that are less expensive and definitely out perform. I would rather see the cost go into the product rather than the beautiful boxes.
I heard that originally her brand was own by L’Oréal then she bought it back and re-design the entire brand. It looks way different from now and I think is much better. Maybe you could check the new EM make up line?

Yep!! If that would have been any other high end brand she would have said "no way, its not worth it" like when the mascara was smudged everywhere and she said "wow" and was not impressed, but then followed it up with "but thats ok, its an easy fix" Are you kidding? If that was any other high end brand and for $25 the mascara smudged like that she would have said to look elsewhere. I get that it was awkward for her though. The lipstick was silly too, how is that sheer? Also, $38 for eyeshadow that is that unpigmented? It reminded me of Lancome palette shadows, they perform just as shitty. She does work with landcome so maybe its the same formula?
I agree! I love Judy's reviews but I could tell she was overthinking a lot of things she said. Like she didn't want to be completely honest. I figured it was because when Judy comes out with her own stuff she would want Michelle to like it and even promote them. So I guess its just clever business thinking.
I love your reviews on products. Very honest and to the point. You always test the product in real life and give a time to see how it works. That's very helpfull especially for people who have the same type of skin with yours :)

I didn't really like the color combo that Judy had from the eyeshadow packet (just for that particular palette though) and I agree with her when she said the majority of the price goes to packaging. High end product? I don't really think so but I guess it's a good starter kit... just the price though.

I'm in Australia and we have to pay through the roof for cosmetics. I'm scared to imagine how much I'd have to pay to order these products! For those prices it's a safer bet to stick to Mac or other high end brands that are a sure thing for quality.

Even though I know I am better off getting one of the Naked palettes than one of the large palettes by Em cosmetics I kinda want to try her brand. I havent even though I tell myself to try it. I just dont want to spend that much money because I am probably the only one that thinks that most of her products pop and look better in lighter skin. For example that contour stick is to light. If a lot of money is being charged for it they should at least give you more product since I will probably have to build it up a lot to look like contour thats just my thoughts.

I really admire your integrity, Judy! At first I was skeptical as to whether or not you would be biased based on the fact that Michelle is a fellow youtuber (I love her too) but was very surprised by your honesty in this review. Will definitely be watching more, keep up the good (and honest) work!
