    Nian gao is usually a steamed brown sugar/palm sugar rice flour cake, eaten around Lunar New Year. The name is a good luck phrase for having a prosperous/"higher" year. Looks miam Jay! Lovely video!

    “Wrecked” by trains?? 😲 Trains are a feature! #railgeek 😉
    We stayed just down the street from Gare de Lyon on our recent trip. Thanks to some of your earlier videos, we did walk part of the Coulee Verte.
    We did go to Le Train Bleu. We arrived at the station coming back from Avignon so we just walked up and asked them if they had any openings for lunch. They were able to give us a reservation for 7p so we came back that night. If you still want to go, maybe just walk up and ask about that evening. Perhaps you get lucky like we did! Glad we did. I’m not s foodie but the restaurant is gorgeous. We were one table away from their open front windows so it was a very enjoyable meal. Plus it’s in a train station and I was able to see TGVs when we arrived and left! 👍🏻

      "We stayed just down the street from Gare de Lyon"
      What was the area like day/night?
      Thank you in advance. 😊

    • @FoCoBuzz
      @FoCoBuzz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bombaytalkie. It was fine. During the day, there was a lot of foot traffic of people obviously heading to the train station. Just a typical area of Paris. I went out for a late walk the first evening we stayed there and it was fine then too. Not as sketchy as near some train stations in Europe (thinking to the east and north of Gare du Nord or Frankfurt). Not many out later in the evening but I was fine walking back to the hotel that evening.

    Mmmm I’ll have one of those cocktails right now please! Seriously though the Calbar looks great ! Have never done the Coulée Verte, so that’s definitely on the list ! Cheers Jay !

    I was at Le Train Bleu a couple of months ago. The food was meh, but even though i had seen tons of pics and vids, I was still gobsmacked by the grandeur. I hope you go soon! Next time, I'll just order a cocktail, a cheese plate and salad. :)

    Excellent video. Too short!
    We stay in the 11th. We're vegan, so we stay around the corner of VG Patisserie. It's close enough to Le Marais, as well as everything else by metro.
    Looking forward to your video.

    Thank you, Jay, for another great video. A stroll on La Coulée Verte is on my list with a stop at Rosie after for cocktails and lunch. Question: I bought your guide this past Spring just after the big 2023 update; has it since been updated any further? If so, how does one access it? Thank you.

    We have just watched a few of your videos. While they're generally quite informative, I have to say that the amount of self-promotion and advertising is just too much. I understand that TH-camrs try to find ways to increase their outside income, but I honestly think you would have more subscribers and views, if you would turn it down a notch or rather five.

    • @JaySwanson

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. As you know, every single video I post on TH-cam is essentially free labor, to bring you information on Paris and give you advice. My guide complements this, and if I didn't well, sell it, I wouldn't be able to do this job and continue make videos.

      @@JaySwanson That you advertise your book, I have nothing against. That you do so every minutes, I feel is aggravating. I supported you on Patreon until you made more than my own revenue. I criticized your video because I thought you could do better.
