I'll be in Cebu Friday on my discovery trip, staying in IT park and exploring for several weeks. I'd love any must see suggestions for the new guy in that area
Your newest sub here! You and Jerry (Chad's recent interview) helped make up my mind. I'm selling everything and looking forward to the happy vibes of the Philippines!
You are living the dream my friend! Congratulations on a successful journey thus far! I think many of us would love to see a tour of the condos to see what $500-$700 a month gets you there! Thanks! And happy new year!
I love the joy you have for the Philippines. I want to caution your happiness by reminding you that the Philippines is not free from criminals. I would say STOP telling people the exact building you reside in. I would be more vague on the amount of money you have... Since you only have four videos up at this moment - I would say take down or edit down any personal information like the amount of money that you have. You can be as vague as "I put my savings into the stock market and I was able to grow it - and the pandemic helped with the discounted stock shares that are 6x it's worth... now" . (Kenny the Silver Jewelry guy commented that it's like pulling teeth getting honest numbers - there is a reason why vloggers are vague - it's for safety) I am a Filipino American that lives in the USA. This commentary is coming from someone that has lived in the Philippines for 10 years+. I know the landscape. Vlogging should be easy with your personality but please be cautious on what information you relay to your audience. Please re-consider editing the four videos that you have to exclude any in depth personal information like the money you have and where you live. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. Stay smiling and a Happy 2025.
@britt , listen to his advice. There's lots of truth to it. But I'm glad you're enjoying your stress-free lifestyle and the hospitality of my country & people. A word of caution though: just be extra careful!! For your safety & security 😢😮😢! Wish you all the best @britt🎉🎉
Just watched your interview with Chad, was feeling overwhelmed and a bit apprehensive trying to process all the information and choices available but your enthusiasm has given me some hope. I’ve got a few years on you, seems you’re enjoying your life. I’ve been having this feeling that I’m just existing here in the US and not really living. I retired four years ago, had an awesome airline career and was fortunate to have traveled the world, but am feeling exhausted and unfulfilled from trying to pursue the American dream. been in a dating drought, not interested in women my age, the dating potential sounds promising. Looking forward to following your journey
Just don't give all your money away and end up back in America broke! Date women in their 30s or early 40s. NOT the 20s. They will drain you like a kitchen sink. Be smart and not a sucker and don't act like you're lucky to have her when they are the lucky one. Good luck bro!🙂🙂
Thanks for being so honest with your finances, I follow a lot of channels for years now and its like pulling teeth about getting honest numbers from them, nice video, I just subscribed to your channel,Im from Florida
Why don't you visit first? Take a month and go visit. Go in January or February. The best months. Or between October and February. Research typhoon zones. TH-cam can't tell you everything!
Hi Britt, I'm a new subscriber and always interested of listening to foreigners living in the Philippines. I'm glad you choose Cebu, my wife is from Cebu and I'm from Ilocos Norte but we're both living here in the US. It's a smart on your part to retire early and enjoy life in the Philippines. I love Cebu and have visited 5 times now. Enjoy Philippines and hope you'll visit the other 7,000+ islands. God bless.
Most of them are uninhabited but you can go to these islands through island hopping and enjoy these beautiful islands and some of them has sandbar. Bohol, Cebu, Dumaguette, Palawan and other islands offer island hopping tours!
Hi Britt, great video! You seem to cover your bases. $200K to spend until retirement. Your SS will probably reach close to $2k by the time. Plus your annuity for back-up. What about health insurance?
I have a shingled roof. It's 19 years old and almost time to replace it. Would you recommend an aluminum roof? I have seen many of my neighbors going that route. What about the flat roof on my patio area? Btw, I live in Florida.
Thanks Britt for your honesty and excitement about where you are now living. Looks like a beautiful, relaxing place to retire and I need to think seriously about following in your footsteps. I'm not very happy here in America and at 58 I better make a move to find more happiness in life before I'm too old or dead. Thanks again. Be well.
Saw your interview on Chad’s channel, loved the vibe. I just subbed. Me and my wife are moving from Texas to Davao Del Norte next year, we already bought our property. Stay blessed brother.
Great financial advice. The annuity is a great investment and CD have really increased over the past few years. I’m retired now and would love to retire in the Philippines but, I still remember how humid and hot the Philippines can get. I live in San Diego county, California and spoiled with the weather. Thanks for sharing
i lived in san diego for years. Got used to Philippines and now San diego feels too cold at night and the ocean is very cold and not very clear in SD , only warm a few months out of the year. Much nicer ocean and beaches in Philippines. Only too hot during certain hours of the day. So i mostly go out in the morning or at night. In A real paradise, you are never cold day or night 365 days a year
Acclimation is a big concern of mine. Lived for years in Redondo beach and am spoiled by the Cali weather but have lived in the ATL for the past five years and have somehow managed to survive the summers. Hoping the pluses of living in the Philippines will balance out my weather concerns
@seanpatterson7035 The weather has never bothered me. I got one of those portable fans. Battery life is 15 hours. Always use it if I'm going to be outdoors for a long period of time. Sweating off a few pounds wouldn't hurt me.

Britt. thanks for all the info you provide, aside from raw key data to your own personal goals and experiences. Please reach out if you need an original or customized music track or jingle for your TH-cam channel. We can share the one we have created for another expat's' channel. No strings attached!
Great video. You moved over there around the same time I wanted to. I've had to push the move back for a couple of years but can't wait to be there. It's great to know my government pension will be enough to live like you do. Was skeptical for a while. Keep up the videos.
Check out his condo complex, "Marco Polo Residences" in Cebu City. I am looking at 2 BR 2 BA condos there. a fully furnished upper floor unit can be had for $1,000 USD. That's a bargain for me. Here in San Francisco, atop Nob Hill where I live, a view condo would rent for $12,000 monthly. And a 1 BR view apartment rents for $4,500 monthly minimum. I have looked at a lot of condo complexes in Cebu. I'm liking the Marco Polo the most.
I started collecting my full Social Security 1/2024 (I was 66 1/2) but I kept working until this month. I'm retired now, I have NO debt and I've managed to save $250,000, so with my SS and interest income, I'm getting about $3,300 every month, which I can live fine with in The U.S., but I'll be moving to Siem Reap, Cambodia in 3-6 months. I can live a nice, upper middle class lifestyle (there) and still save about $20,000 every year, which will boost my savings to somewhere North of $400,000, to prepare for if/when the predicted (future) Social Security 25% - 35% benefit reductions occur. I'll have plenty of savings at that time to offset the possible reduction in my monthly income.
@ I’ve been going there a couple times a year for the last few years. I have met a good woman who has two children that I will be marrying in November.
You're living the dreams sir congrats My plan also is to leave back there I'm just grinding now investing on my roth ira and 401k. if i could hit $2000 a month of dividend I'm set that's about 110k more than enough
I’m a bit younger at 51. But I’ve made some great investments and am considering pulling the plug and getting over there. My salary is close to what yours was. I never bought the toys though. Boats, sports cars, etc. I’m still driving a 20 year old Toyota. I think I have enough that I can swing around $3k monthly. Just gotta get the house sold, which is going on the market in March. Hopefully someone buys it and I can make like a bakery truck and haul buns outta here.
Just came across your channel and subbed. I appreciate the way you broke this down and your strategies to strengthen your investments to live comfortably in PHL. Personally I think $3K a month is reasonable. I came over to PHL 10 years ago, not retired nor able to afford to live off my assets but just wanted to spend time in PHL and date my Filipina gf and get to know her better. Fast forward 10 years, I’m in PHL visiting my wife at the house she inherited and we remodeled over the past years. I don’t plan to stay because my work requires me to be on site. But I enjoy working and at my top earning levels. I have a financial advisor for my investments and I have started plans to convert my California home into rental property. I won’t be eligible for my social security for several years but it would be enough to hit $3K a month easily. I haven’t thought about CDs but I will definitely bring that up to my advisor since I’m planning on selling some of my stocks.
Good for you, you are living my dream! Im 37, planning on leaving the US around 47-48. I cannot wait to get away from the corporate grind! Everyone wayching his videos, it is possible. Live below your means, invest, save, invest your $$.
Nice video, and I appreciate your friendliness and generosity of perspective. Curious if you kept a house in the US for rental income or a backup plan.
I just saw your interview on the other video. Question... I've heard a lot about Marco Polo area, but you're the only expat I've seen that actually live there. I come from the Florida Panhandle to Cebu-Mactan for my annual diving trip, staying in the Newtown condos. I thought about staying there but when you described Marco Polo, I'm interested in moving there long term instead of looking at moving to Mactan to be closer to the diving. Can you do a video specifically on Marco Polo rental residence areas? I also retired at 52. I also projected a $3k budget but could never see that... more closer to $2k range.
3K is an excellent budget and if your cost of living is less than that, save the extra fund each month for an emergency fund! Enjoy retirement while you are young and enjoy the future travels!
Your financial strategy demonstrates excellent foresight. Many expatriates in the Philippines rely solely on prematurely accessed Social Security benefits and strict budgeting, a less-than-ideal approach. As long as you're not an alcoholic, problems with gambling and chasing pretty women, I'm sure your stay in the Philippines will be a prosperous one.
Thanks for the transparency really feel your genuine!! Financesis not an issue I have but my issue with moving overseas is how to set up my banking so I always have access to my finances. Could you consider a video giving the rest of us the rundown on transferring money and keeping access to money from overseas. What cellular service you use for banking and how you maintain a US adress.... thanks
Your Stateside ATM card is the best (cheapest) way to get cash. Your Stateside credit cards work fine. Establish a state residence in a state with no income tax before moving to the PI. I think South Dakota has a pretty easy method of establishing residence and mail forwarding.
You look hot! hahaha You look for your age. You had an amazing interview with Chad. That was a delight hearing all the positive things you said about the Philippines. I am glad that Philippines give you that life you wanted. Take care and enjoy your friendship and stay in the Philippines
We have a house not far from where you did that interview in Dauis Bohol. It has solar, so our bills will be very small. I am 50, and I am struggling with when to pull the plug and call it quits. Like you I have a big income here and it keeps me stressed out keeping the golden handcuffs on me. Most of our retirement is in 401k that can’t be accessed until 59.5 without penalty. I feel like I will work until 55 and then high tail it over to Dauis. I subbed to your channel as I can really relate to what you are doing. Did you have any kids you left behind in the states? I have a 19 year old daughter and a 6 year old son with my Filipina that make the decision even more complex.
@Landmantx I was married for 12 years. My ex had a thyroid and pituitary gland issue and was not able to have children. We divorced 8 years ago. The Philippines has worked its magic on me.
your comment about golden handcuffs is spot on. I’m so tired of trying to afford a modest lifestyle in the USA and the Philippines is sounding better all the time
I’m 57, and drawing a pension. I’m thinking about moving tiger for three months, and see how it goes. I definitely have enough in savings to make it to 62, and I own my home outright. I’m thinking making the move might be the best for me?
Just go with an open mind and check it out. Take a phone that is unlocked. Starting out it’s easier to just get a Filipino SIM card for your phone that gives you calls/text/data. It’s priced pretty good. Maybe go to two plus cities. Renting a condo (versus a hotel) will give you a better feel for what it would be like to live there. I’d use Grab (cars) to get around and avoid motorbike transportation. It’s nice to relax and soak up a little air conditioning during your Grab rides. You can set up the Grab app, but pay in cash, this seems easier to me, especially when tipping, I just round up to the nearest 50 or 100 pesos. Rent Pad is another site to find condo rentals, in addition to Airbnb. Enjoy!
Great video and transparency I just subscribed. Looking forward to your journey . Just be careful Britt those numbers you threw out may give people certain ideas!! Just sayin my friend
I think your financial plan makes sense, but it’s extremely conservative. I hope you consider investing any extra money in a broad index fund so that you have some potential upside in the future. Thanks for telling us about your experience and good luck!
Hey Britt, I remember seeing you in bed with (Carefree) Chris. I wish you luck with your channel and appreciate your sharing your experience there as well. Chris and I have spoken and written back / forth many times and I look forward to the day when I get my butt over there and get some riding in with y'all - at 57 y/o, I've been riding for 46 years now. My hope has always been to assemble a good group of guys to travel around SE Asia and moto-tour together. Happy New Year. Andrew
@@BrittMcalister Definitely Britt, I will reach out once my plans are solidified. I have been in Europe since July and am heading to Mexico in a couple of weeks, so I am a bit delayed due to having a few things to wrap up in the US with my rental properties before leaving for SE Asia. FYI, I watched another one of your videos and love your no BS / sharing real information style. My NY born and raised sensibilities resonates with that and I think there are a lot of people out there in YT land who want that.
How far are you from Ayala Mall? I have been to Cebu City twice now, and I am looking for a condo like that. I am just wondering how far you are from the malls and things like that.
Oh, by the way, I saw you on another channel being interviewed. I see allot of negative things about the Philippines allot, but my view on the Philippines is allot like yours. I always have a big smile on my face while I'm there visiting my girlfriend. Well, she helps as well..lol She's such a great gal to be with. Her being from the province in Minglanilla is a plus. Every place I take her to she's has never been. Yeah, it's a totally different world in the Philippines for sure. Keep your videos coming. Maybe we'll cross paths one day in Cebu City.
Hello Britt, New Subscriber. I really liked your interview with Chad. It was a huge inspiration for guys like me that are in your former situation in USA. I'm much like you and have been investing in the stock market and crunching the #'s. Between SS and dividend payments from stocks, I'm looking at receiving about $4,129.00/mo, when I retire in June, so it looks like I'm in the clear. Can you do a video on your Marco Polo residence, and experience, and how you got in there, the lease negotiations, price per month, etc. Also can you make a vid on how you transfer your US funds to PH would be great too. Do you have a special credit card or ATM card that you use to access your funds in PH. I'm currently with Schwab and Fidelity on Investments and Chase Bank for checking. Thank you, Britt.
I saw that video interview. I've been going to the PI roughly 13 years. I usually spend s month there each year. I'm married to a Filipina of course and have 2 kids. One thing i want to say to you as a fellow American and this is from hindsight. Be very careful about talking about money. I totally understand how you feel very safe there and everyone is sweet and nice. I've been there, done that and I'm telling this to you as a friend, there are many more eyes on you than you think and people listen to every word you say. It is very easy for someone to get very jealous over what you have. Just be careful about videos like this and telling details.
39 and retired already 1 year I'm in Phillipines, don't waste you're money to rent or buy a condo guys, waste off money. No adventure here just he is just giving details about the expensive living here, where does the adventure comes from?🤦 Adventure life or rookie life? I know the answer
My 2 cents. You are doing what you want to do - great. I see danger in discussing your finances on a world-wide forum. You are telling crooks how much money you banked. Don't think they can't find where you live. You face extorsion, kidnapping, etc. This could also happen in the states also. Stay safe.
I like your video, but man...the people who are asking are not ready and is in no position to do so. This video puts a mark on you. You just told the world what finances you have. You should take this video down. Seriously! Tell people what you did, but never give them numbers, and always downplay what you have. ALWAYS! I would have said $1,500 and say it's rough, because that's what it's like for most on Social Security there. Many of them can't even afford a plane ticket home to see their family again! Next topic: Look in Covered Call Options and Secured Puts as a way to produce monthly income since you already invested in the stock market. You have the time. Learn it and extend your inc😊me until you die! Thumbs up buddy!👍🏾👍🏾
Id redo this video without all the detail on your history. Someone down the rd could use this info against you in ways you never considered when you recorded this. Thr story is ok just not all the details...
Don't understand why you only need income to age 60? Do you have a pension coming at 60? Love your comments on PI, America is no longer a happy society but sounds like you have happiness there
Philippines is nice for visiting at certain area and get a partner but living there is not recommended 😊 it’s a third world country and heavy air pollution .
Another talking head format. Abandon it. Show what’s around you. You can talk about your important content points with beautiful outside and travel footage. This market is flooded

I'm just grinding now investing on my roth ira and 401k. if i could hit $2000 a month of dividend I'm set that's about 110k more than enough
Come on.
Awesome brother, dreams do come true
@CaptainRon2 They did for me. Just trying to give that push for guys that are on the fence.
Sounds like you have a good financial plan. Wish my CD's hadn't been call short.
@@1951Roy I'm not a financial advisor. Just thought it would help someone in the same situation. It's just a sample. It worked for me.
Awesome video! Congrats on the early retirement! If I may, where did you purchase your medical insurance while living in the Philippines?
I do not have health insurance yet. I'm doing a video on that soon. Types of coverages here with guest.
Thank you for the information it helps
Glad it was helpful!
Happy New Year Britt. We love you and Chad also ✨💖💖💖💐🎉🏖️🏝️🌅
Good stuff. I’ve been planning for 5 years now.
I live a minimalists life for a better future.
Go for it!
I’m from the Birmingham area as well. I’m planning to leave the US for the Philippines when I turn 54 too. Would love to talk to you some time.
I'm available. jbmcharrison@yahoo.com
well done bro, live large
Thank you.
The word is called the FIRE movement.
I am one of them...
Moving there soon keep up more video
Thanks for the support.
Where are you moving to? Cebu City?
I’m a bit younger at 51. But I’ve made some great investments and am considering pulling the plug and getting over there. My salary is close to what yours was. I never bought the toys though. Boats, sports cars, etc. I’m still driving a 20 year old Toyota. I think I have enough that I can swing around $3k monthly. Just gotta get the house sold, which is going on the market in March. Hopefully someone buys it and I can make like a bakery truck and haul buns outta here.
@@MB-gz1ji Sounds like you have a plan.
It's all ABOUT your lifestyle.
Luxury living or lower class living. There no right answer.
Keep up the videos.
@@kevinacker9843 Thank you.
Thanks for the comment.
Good for you, you are living my dream! Im 37, planning on leaving the US around 47-48. I cannot wait to get away from the corporate grind!
Everyone wayching his videos, it is possible. Live below your means, invest, save, invest your $$.
You can do it!
Do you have health insurance, and if so, what is the cost?
I do not. Have looked at several plans. Most are only for severe needs.
Nice video, and I appreciate your friendliness and generosity of perspective. Curious if you kept a house in the US for rental income or a backup plan.
I sold everything.
That will be my next video.
@@BrittMcalisterAwesome! Just subd!
Hi Britt. Love your content so far. Gonna be in Cebu in February. Looking for a place and or expats to watch the Super Bowl. Any suggestions?
@KennethMalone-lw8om Last year the Social had it. But it closed due to their lease. We can find a place.
Hey Britt, we'll be in Cebu City for Sinulog. Would be fun to meet up. I used to live in Raleigh a long time ago. Go Tarheels!
I'll be here. Love meeting new people.
3K is an excellent budget and if your cost of living is less than that, save the extra fund each month for an emergency fund! Enjoy retirement while you are young and enjoy the future travels!
Totally agree!
Interesting
Your financial strategy demonstrates excellent foresight. Many expatriates in the Philippines rely solely on prematurely accessed Social Security benefits and strict budgeting, a less-than-ideal approach. As long as you're not an alcoholic, problems with gambling and chasing pretty women, I'm sure your stay in the Philippines will be a prosperous one.
Thanks for your feedback.
Thanks for the transparency really feel your genuine!! Financesis not an issue I have but my issue with moving overseas is how to set up my banking so I always have access to my finances. Could you consider a video giving the rest of us the rundown on transferring money and keeping access to money from overseas. What cellular service you use for banking and how you maintain a US adress.... thanks
Coming up next.
Your Stateside ATM card is the best (cheapest) way to get cash. Your Stateside credit cards work fine.
Establish a state residence in a state with no income tax before moving to the PI.
I think South Dakota has a pretty easy method of establishing residence and mail forwarding.
What preparations have you made for serious health issues?
I have money set aside.
@ I mean, what about health insurance and planning for inpatient procedures in a Philippines hospital… things to think about.
You look hot! hahaha You look for your age.
You had an amazing interview with Chad. That was a delight hearing all the positive things you said about the Philippines. I am glad that Philippines give you that life you wanted.
Take care and enjoy your friendship and stay in the Philippines
@CoffeeMagical Thank you so much. Loving my new life here.
@ You have a great attitude and thats what Filipinos like.
Pag amping Britt!
I’m so tired of trying to afford a modest lifestyle in the USA and the Philippines is sounding better all the time
ever hear of IRS rule of 55??
I’m 57, and drawing a pension. I’m thinking about moving tiger for three months, and see how it goes. I definitely have enough in savings to make it to 62, and I own my home outright. I’m thinking making the move might be the best for me?
You can do it!
Enjoy!
Hi, what annuity did you invest? I'm looking at annuity but I'm not sure if fdic insured. Thanks. Great info.

I think your financial plan makes sense, but it’s extremely conservative. I hope you consider investing any extra money in a broad index fund so that you have some potential upside in the future.
Thanks for telling us about your experience and good luck!
Knowing I had enough for my budget I decided to go the 100% safe route.
Makes sense. You do have some risk of inflation eating into your spending unless you invest a bit more aggressively.
Time to invest in a good mic, Britt. New sub here. 😇
I'll go and get one. Didn't think I would get viewers. So new to this.
Andrew
@andrewkamchi7478 I have very good group of friends here. We should meet up when you get here.
Love your channel, question for you, sir. Will 3000 do throughout the Philippines or just certain areas?
$3000 will be plenty for any area in the Philippines.
Google Maps says its about 19 mins (6 mi) by car, 33 mins by transit, 51 mins (4 km) walking.
I have vehicles. It takes me about 7 minutes to get to Ayala Central Bloc.
Smart!!!!!
Thanks for watching.
What about healthcare?
There are plans here. Michael Onstad. Facebook
You should have kept your finances a secret. Now, you maybe a target of scrupolous people in the Philippines or anywhere else. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Come on over. I would live to meet up with you.
I'll do it next.
Thanks for the feedback.
To be honest putting way too much information someone is going to kidnapping you and hold you for ransom
Cute Southern accent. 😍
@@mochapoundcake Thanks.
Wait until you get 3 years in Philippines…you are new into this remember 😊
Cebu City is like any City in the states. It's a big city. Are there rough areas, of course.
Hi Brett new sub here
Thanks for subbing
Carnival stock is only at 25$ right now, looked at chart it hasnt made massive gains since it crashed in plandemic
I bought it at $8
39 and retired already 1 year I'm in Phillipines, don't waste you're money to rent or buy a condo guys, waste off money. No adventure here just he is just giving details about the expensive living here, where does the adventure comes from?🤦 Adventure life or rookie life? I know the answer
100k usd should last an expat 10 yrs in the Philippines
Lol. Not the lifestyle I'm living. $24,000 per year is the sweet spot.
My 2 cents. You are doing what you want to do - great. I see danger in discussing your finances on a world-wide forum. You are telling crooks how much money you banked. Don't think they can't find where you live. You face extorsion, kidnapping, etc. This could also happen in the states also. Stay safe.
I feel safer here than I did in America. Have to be different from everyone to actually help. Giving numbers helps guys just like me back home.
Thanks for the concern. I feel safe here. I'm just trying to help people in the states. Without numbers what would I be saying?
Who cares about your savings boring content creators about finances. Your a loner in USA that’s why u went to Phil.
Great info, this is my biggest concern. How much do you need to get up and leave this rat race we live here in USA.
My other video goes over it all.
Id redo this video without all the detail on your history. Someone down the rd could use this info against you in ways you never considered when you recorded this. Thr story is ok just not all the details...
the same dating traps in the u.s. exist there. So take a red pill everyday.
Thanks for the feedback.
Don't understand why you only need income to age 60? Do you have a pension coming at 60? Love your comments on PI, America is no longer a happy society but sounds like you have happiness there
Have an annuity that pays out when I reach 60. Also have Teamsters pension.
@@BrittMcalister Very nice. I am thinking of visiting Metro Manila area, sure wish it was closer. Many hours on a plane from Florida
Philippines is nice for visiting at certain area and get a partner but living there is not recommended 😊 it’s a third world country and heavy air pollution .
