Dude, you rip. But people ride wooden planks and plywood, why wouldn''t your handshaped board work? I started surfing before the machine shaped boards came on. You can ride anything you want. No such thing as a bad board, you just gotta learn to ride it. The first board I shaped was in woodshop, back when that was offered as an elective in Jr High, the 80's. The teacher said I could shape a PU for a grade so long as I wrote up a step by step plan and used all the shop hand tools. Some of my friends loved it, some hated it. The real question was, can you make it work? You did with yours. That was sick. It's a great feeling to get waves on something you crafted yourself. Way to go!
For another shaping challenge, try hotwiring a blank out of a big chunk of eps. It's kind of a trip to visualize it entirely in 3 dimensions vs a pre formed blank.
I used a polyurethane blank. The carbon lay up allowed for a good amount of flex. I just need to have my next build strengthened a little bit more. I found the limit with how light I can go with carbon
Maybe next board the fin reinforcement make the fiber glass go toward the nose in a daimond pattern? Seems like it buckled right at the reinforcement patch.
