We loved Harmony. Went last October. Going again next September. We were a little disappointed in some of the included food offerings, but there's always something good to eat. After a while you learn what they do well and what to avoid.
But Jamie's is fantastic! A tip if you want to try a specialty restaurant is prebook a lunch before your cruise. Lunch is less than half the price of dinner and is virtually the same menu, with a few premium items missing. It's cheaper to prebook than when you're on the ship. Jamie's lunch was around $21 and dinner was $49 on sale pre-cruise. On our recent Mariner cruise, we caught a special on national Italian food day and booked a Jamie's lunch for $12.50!
It is possible to land a deal while you're on the ship as well. You'll get offers from crew members trying to sell you specialty dining. On our recent Mariner cruise, we were having lunch at the buffet. The head waiter came by to talk to us about how we were enjoying the food, etc. He asked if we were interested in any specialty dining. We said we had Jamie's lunch already booked for tomorrow. He suggested Chops for dinner and offered us a 30% discount. We asked how much it would be. It's normally $65 each. We looked at each other, hesitating, trying to decide. Then he sweetened the deal with BOGO. At that point we couldn't resist, and it ended up being our best meal of the cruise.

@@Shareebysea Me, too. I can wait. By the time there are 3 Icon class ships, I'm hoping one of them will do shorter sailings. That or the price will come down since Icon isn't the latest, greatest anymore.

I've decided to try a larger Royal Caribbean ship, as my recent experience didn't live up to my expectations. I found it quite boring, the food was unappetizing, and my teenagers said the teen club was deserted after the initial meet-and-greet. We barely saw our room attendant after the first day. I definitely miss Carnival.

What ship was this? I think you and the kids would really enjoy Harmony of the Seas. I don’t think anyone would be bored because there is sooooo much to do!! But I gotta add, I just did Carnival Jubilee and it was the most fun I’ve ever had on a ship!!

@@teammilton06We had a great cruise on Mariner a few weeks ago, but it's very different than Harmony (which we did last year). There were a lot of things we missed from Harmony that weren't on Mariner. The promenade is smaller. No boardwalk. No central park. Less included food venue variety. But we enjoyed the smaller ship being easier to navigate as we have mobility issues and we had a more laid-back, relaxing cruise. We enjoyed the shows, did a little trivia, ate, and played in the casino. But Harmony is way more active and fun. Although on our first Harmony cruise we had such rough seas they canceled almost all of the shows. The only one we got to see was the ice show, 1887. We're going again next year. Hopefully the seas are calmer. We had leftover chop from a hurricane. 12 foot swells. It was an experience!

I really enjoyed this video-thanks for sharing your perspective on the Harmony of the Seas. I'm gearing up for my third cruise [I'm still a newbie to cruise life], and so far, I've sailed exclusively with Cunard. I appreciate their slower pace and the older, more relaxed crowd, which suits my desire to unwind. That said, once I've explored all the Cunard ships, I'll be looking into other cruise lines, so your video is incredibly helpful.
25:09 you would think a barcode scan system would help resolve this problem.

Hey Sharee! I haven't been on a Royal Cruise, but when I do, it will definitely be on 1 of the larger ships. Royal just seems to be expensive, especially for those ships. So far, Princess is my favorite line, but I don't have a teenager to entertain, lol.

@@NowBoardingVlogsCompared with Disney, Royal is a bargain. The new Icon class is pretty darn expensive, tho. But Oasis class ships like Harmony are a great value and offer so much. When you consider it includes room, food, excellent entertainment, and travel to various destinations, it can be a great value vacation depending on time of year and itinerary. We're going on Harmony a second time next year out of Galveston and it's cheaper than our cruise on it last year out of Miami. Also we're getting an ocean view balcony instead of the boardwalk view.
