Suggestions: 1) put insulation (wrap or bricks) around the fire box so that heat will be concentrate to the retort drum 2) the wood gas burner need to be longer with more horizontal holes
@@bentipton6205 Try drilling holes in a straight line in the bottom of the drum and cover with a piece of angle iron to keep the holes from getting plugged.
The pipe coming out is screwed into the barrel plug and is 1 inch iron pipe. You do want your stock to be someone dry or the pipe can get plugged with a creosote like liquid. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video! If you don't mind, I'm gonna use "some" of your idea for my build. The oil drum for your fire house is a great idea. Is that a 250 gal. Oil Drum?
Great idea to run the gas back under the retort. Nice work.
This is a clever system. Like it.
That was great. Well done 👍

Both of these are on the wish list and will make the process more efficient. Thanks for watching.

Cutting small diameter timber to size is much easier with a good billhook than a small axe or hatchet.
❤❤❤
Good.
Is thid your own design?
How many degrees does the charcoal ripen?
What size are the pipe fittings you used to screw into the barrel lid? Are they copper or brass

Yes the oil drum is a 250 gal and the barrel is 55 gal. Have fun and thanks for watching.

Axe isn't the right tool to cut small branches.
you can easily cut small branches with an axe. However you need a better technique than this dude has.
