So you obviously really enjoy writing fantasy, but I'm curious, do you ever have plans on writing any science fiction, mystery, thriller, or other genres in the future? Have you tried any of those in your contemporary writing in recent years?
Great question! When I was a young warthog, I definitely entertained science fiction, but the vibe I get about sci-fi in the present favors hard over soft, which necessitates me having to abide much more strongly by actual physics. Of course, there are science fiction stories that don't really rely on believability and are still great, like Arrival, so I'm sure if I had a sci-fi idea I was passionate about, I could make it work. As far as mystery and thriller go, I probably wouldn't do them in a realistic fiction story, but I do have plans for at least a fantasy thriller.
I have 700 words this week so far. It’s hard not to be hard on myself but we write on.
That's very true. I'm trying to make sure I keep persevering regardless of how sluggish writing is sometimes.
Find some people to sprint with. That helps me get words on the page.
