Alan Lee really nailed Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa's tone and cadence here, it's like listening to Mr. Tagawa in his heydays.
I had to check online because I couldn't tell if it was Tagawa or not. He really did nail this performance.

I can never hate this guy cause of how pleasing his tone is and how much charisma he has
He is voiced by Alan Lee, a great voice actor.
He's the kind of guy that would invite you to have some tea, only to discover that the tea was poisoned, but you'd still die happy because of his deceiving tone worthy of a host.

Nah the last incarnation was the true Shang Tsung and far more evil.
@@MattS-og5zb Gonna disagree, this Shang Tsung did not have his powers in the beginning and still was a snake, when he finally acquired them, he became even worse in a short time, to the point that even titan Shang genuinely complemented his trickery and skill.

As much as I wish Cary Tagawa voiced Shang Tsung, I gotta say Alan Lee did a really good impression of him, I probably would have thought it was Cary without someone telling me it wasn’t him

It's tough to convey a character who is at once profoundly untrustworthy yet dangerously charismatic, but Alan Lee pulls it off brilliantly.
Shang Tsung betraying Shang Tsung is the most Shang Tsung thing Shang Tsung would ever do.

Alan Lee’s Shang Tsung stole every scene he was in. Between the mocap (?) physical acting, the facial expressions and the voice acting he was just magnetic. Hope he’s here to stay.
I knew it wasn’t him because I was a kid when the movie came out. And MK11 Tagawas’ return was epic. Tagawa really nailed all of Shang Tsung’s character at once. His charisma, intelligence, manipulation and callousness seamlessly.
But damn Alan Lee sure as shit filled those big as shoes Tagawa stomped bitches in all these years. That is NOT easy for any actor coming after a legend to do. So many of them fail. As a fan of MK from the very beginning, he fuckin’ nailed it! Mad respect to Alan Lee!

I'm curious how his interactions with Homelander and Omni-Man will end up. Given the 2 way interactions, it's unlikely we'll get repeats in dialogue even with the strike happening.

I think NRS typically scripts dialogues well in advance of the KP. I remember we found out terminator was coming through leaked dialogues back in MK11
From what I've heard, the FP1 dialogues have already been recorded so the matter would regard future KPs

This game is an enigma. Like how the fuck we be getting legendary performances like this, then in the SAME GAME we have Megan Fox.
Pretty sure she's the wildcard in this game of voice actors.

It seems to be a universal thing, pretty much everyone respects Kuai Liang and his skill. I don’t know too much about mk lore but I’ve always like the games so I checked out mk1 and I can see now why he’s such a beloved villain
I’m a bit curious why they decided on tiger claws for Shang Tsung. It works for him though. Also curious if he learned his martial arts on his own or from “Damashi”?
The claws were a reference to Han, the villain of Enter the Dragon, which was a VERY clear inspiration for the original MK game.
Shang Tsung with his green claws resembles Han the main bad guy from Enter The Dragon with his bladed claw while Liu Kang is like Bruce Lee.
This here is how perfect Shang tsung needs to be as a mastermind. The real question is, now that he knows that Liu kangs isn’t the only timeline in motion, will he use this very knowledge to find a way to surpass his Titan self?

I feel like the dialouges got a huge downgrade from MK 11. They are shorter
They're actually more than mk11 despite the 1v1 dialogue. 2v1 dialogue in mk11 was 4 while 1v1 was 8 to 10. So although in short burst, we get more dialogues overall. The dialogue quality is ALOT better in this game too. Mk11 Shang captivated me but mk1 made me worship his deliciously evil charm and he's shamelessly self aware of his depravity while sounding extremely close to 1995 mk movie Shang (despite not being Cary)
Mk11 had 4-5 interactions per character while mk1 has more than 6, to make up for shorter dialogue.
