A hike up the “Cascate di Fanes” waterfalls near Cortina in the Dolomites

  • “Cascate di Fanes” consists of a cascade of waterfalls that drain the Fanes-Senes-Braies nature park. There are a few paths that follow the course of the river upstream to the two main waterfalls. To get the best view of the lower falls one needs to follow the northern route but that does lead into Via Ferrata as being the only way to cross over the river. The southern route which we took offers views of the tumbling stream and it leads onto the upper falls where it’s possible to get behind the waterfall holding onto a steel cable.

    The water looks so blue ! One false step and you're over the edge !

      @@ktm660smc6 No false steps! Behind the waterfall I was holding onto the via ferrata cable. The route carries on; if you look carefully you can see iron rungs after the end of the cable.
