- The plaintiff rented an apartment from the defendant. She claims the defendant was a terrible landlord and the apartment was in shambles. She’s suing for moving expenses. The defendant argues the plaintiff stopped paying rent, so she’s suing for unpaid rent and punitive damages.

I’m surprised so many people think the judge was rude to the plaintiff. No she wasn’t, the plaintiff was ridiculous and had no case from the start. I’d be dismissive too if my time was being wasted.

Exactly. They need to learn that they can't sue someone for money or damages that haven't been spent or haven't happened yet. Some of these litigants are so ignorant that it's a wonder how they make it through the day.
The landlord was right. She needs some type of mental therapy. To the fact that her thought process is not right. How would she be owed 5k from the landlord to move her own stuff on top of her still owing the lady rent. Entitlement has made her delusional. Good ruling.

I do property management for office space. Omg the people I have to deal with. Beyond frustrating. What really gets me is when they throw a fit over something that is in their lease that THEY signed. I verbally go over the things I know they will always overlook but in the end it’s always, “but I didn’t know”. READ your lease and LISTEN to me. Grown ass adults acting like babies.

I’ve been threatened and I’ve had someone try to come over the desk at me. We’re by a transit center so we have the violent homeless people come in too. There was one weekend a homeless man snuck onto our floor (we have the entire 4th floor of the building and almost 60 offices) and he proceeded to use the kitchen as his toilet. I’ve had a client of an attorney’s get in my face and threaten to punch me all because he didn’t have an appointment and the attorney wasn’t there. I’m a woman that is barely over 5 feet tall. Good times.

Judge doesn't understand that in some states "month to month" is only for the tenant. NOT for the landlord.

Housing Assistance doesn't mean Sec 8. Her church could have given her funds or a charity which is housing assistance not Sec8. If it was Sec 8, they would pay the rent so long as she qualifies for the program not just for 3 months 🤷🏿♀️. I worked for the Housing Authority so I'm speaking from work experience not opinion.
Yeah there's housing assistance programs other than Section 8. It sounds like this was a rapid rehousing program, where your move in costs and 3-6 months of your rent is paid and then you have to start paying a portion of your rent based on your income. In the program I worked for, you were on your own and paying your full rent after 6 months. It was meant to help people get back on their feet. Section 8 is typically reserved for people who are disabled and/or are on a fixed limited income but can also be a short term thing, just depends on the person's situation.
