If its every single gear I'd be checking the clutch first, especially if you say it's been done recently. If it's not fully disengaging you'll grind every single gear
No, it has synchronizers. Won't even let you grind. Just had that problem. Clutch was dragging. Had to jam in every gear or rev match. Never grinded a gear ever. New clutch and every gear is buttery.
that 100% sounds like clutch isn’t disengaging, while it was in the air you should have started it up and see if the wheels are dragging when the clutch pedal is pushed down
Improperly bled clutch, improperly adjusted clutch pedal freeplay, improperly torqued pressure plate, or a bad trans. To test for a clutch not disengaging fully, while parked push the clutch pedal fully to the floor, rev the engine to 2,000 rpm, and try to shift from neutral into reverse. If it goes smoothly and quietly into reverse, the clutch is fully disengaging correctly. If it grinds, chatters, or resists in any way going into reverse, the clutch is not fully disengaging. There should be a small amount of freeplay to the clutch pedal where it does nothing when first pushed, and then encounters resistance as it applies pressure to the spring fingers of the pressure plate. It shouldn't feel spongey. Clutch engagement should occur 1/4 or 1/2 way up from the fully depressed pedal position. If it occurs immediately coming up from the bottom, something is wrong.
Maybe the clutch isn't adjusted properly? I've had that happen where it wasn't full disengaging and grinding. I would check that before buying a new transmission.
Why aren't you guys bleeding and adjusting the slave for the clutch? I had a problem with 2nd gear grinding at over 6,000 RPM shifts and I was able to fix it with three bottles of Valvoline synchromesh full synthetic and topping off my clutch fluid. Edit: just so you guys know they make a pump that screws onto the top of the bottles and you pump it and it has a tube that you run into the fill. You don't make a mess.
Ever thought about if the previous owner changed the flywheel aswell? What if the flywheel is so thin that it takes time for it to engage at higher rpm cause your clutch can't grab the flywheel till a couple seconds after this making it grind every single gear But still goes into gear to what looks to be normal . For every sincro to be gone I've literally never seen that in my life . Usually at least 5th will still feel pretty new tbh
Yo AJ, you don't need working synchros in a transmission to shift without grinding, all you need to do is double clutch the damn thing for every gear. If you don't understand what that means basically you push the clutch in slide from your current gear into neutral release the clutch then push it back in again and slide it into the next gear that you want. If you do this it will not grind I 100% guarantee it. It's not a fix but it's a solution so you can drive the car till you save up enough money or find a new transmission.
At 11:37 Spends $45.00 in fluids but doesn't buy a $6.00 fluid pump to put the fluid in Awesome At 16:38 and 17:13 Not a bad way to Spend $4000 those Grinds were Mind Dude
Exact thing happened to me man! Your clutch isn’t disengaging completely. Modern cars shouldn’t wear out every single synchro and it can’t happen over night. If it wasn’t grinding before and started right after the clutch then the clutch wasn’t adjusted properly.””” VERY IMPORTANT”” you can double clutch every shift and the grind will go away. It’s takes like 30 years to wear out all the synchros completely
I accidently greased up the face of the throw out bearing one time, and it made that exact same noise in every gear. Its grease boiling of the forks of the clutch. Take a look at your clutch before buying a tranny
@@brysonshires9742 yeah i thought it was grinding too, the violent shaking causes the gears to chatter making it sound like grinding, it's just worth a look at the clutch job Joe did before he bought it.
I only grind when I’m shifting to fourth. I just got the car, 03 w 70k miles. I just order a whole Z1 mild performance clutch kit and transmission fluid. I just wannna know what it can be? I’m hoping it’s not a whole new transmission.
@@JPXRXZZ turns out it was something w the clutch. I had to change it all since it was giving out and doesn’t grind anymore! I also changed the trans oil so I would make sure to do that as well since that could be the solution
I still think you should of used 100% GM synchromesh. But, now it does sound like the clutch could be not fully disengaging. Bleed the clutch master/slave also....
It’s doesn’t need a trans, but if you don’t double clutch Until that gets adjusted and grind all the gears, then oh baby are you going to need a trans. Look up driving a truck trans they explain good. Trucks don’t have synchros and the drives are skilled enough to get them to not grind
I had that same big fluid syringe and the fuckin thing would always leak out the back and made a huge mess. Last time I used it and got pissed off and just threw the whole thing in the trash like like half full still 😂 I tried like 4 different types of fluid pumps and I have yet to use one that works great.
I bet they think they are doing the least in these videos but these ones are the most entertaining. I'm also 95% sure that's a clutch issue especially if they said they did one soon. Sounds like the clutch is having trouble disengaging. Look on that before you buy a new tranny!

@@Nimbus. DOOR STUCK
he says at high revs, could be a flywheel bolt loose or something in the clutch not together.
My theory is the clutch was blown and it was still driven hard. They changed the clutch but the trans was already damaged so they sold it.

Check the slave cylinder to make sure it’s fully disengaging the pressure plate and clutch disk
Right on the money
Prob pivot ball
Always check the easy shiiit first
@@5thgearedlined the real Question is did he gack the synchros driving it like this lol

Amsoil comes in a bag too would have been a lil easier keep up the good work AJ and onion OG subscriber Haggard way back
If it’s every gear and not just 3rd, the problem mogjt not be the trans. Could be the fresh clutch that’s either not worn in or not properly adjusted
Should of just used the lotion bottle hand pump. the one you keep by a computer usually
Or the night stand
This stuff also comes in a bag

Master cylinder always tends to go out on 350z with new clutch replacement especially if it’s a stiffer pressure plate
100% your clutch isnt disengaging

AJ would be the ONLY guy to have a big ass drip pan right next to him, and just drip it on the floor. Why the fuck lol
I would check the slave cylinder b4 investing time into looking for a transmission
Put a rubber hose through the cap of oil poke a hole in the top of the bottle and use an air gun to push fluid into the trans. Super easy trick
Bleed the clutch master cylinder and line to the clutch problably has some air and is still kinda engaged
Content is 🔥 look forward to the uploads daily boys 🙌🏼
Thanks buddy
sounds like the clutch isn’t fully disengaging
Its the clutch engagement
Try changing slave cylimder it could not be pressimg pressure plate far enough had happen on my e36
what if the clutch isn't fully disengaging
You out the air hose into the bottom of the bottle put a tube on the cap and put it in from the top and let the air do it’s thing.
Real question... How many ft/lb's of AJ was that drain plug torqued to? Asking for a friend.

Does it have an adjustable clutch??? I had a Foxboro that did that and I adjusted the clutch, all better.
I love how there’s a drain funnel right next to where he is leaking tranny the fluid all Over the floor😂😂😂
Step 1: scrap yard
You said that they did a clutch before you bought it make sure that its disengaging and reengaging properly.
These daily uploads are the shiiiit!
the throwout bearing might be badly adjusted from when they did the clutch
Bushings, the engagement sounded off, syncros would have had a resistance.
maybe when did clucth job they didnt replace clutch plate and flywheel.. or could be installed incorrectly
Every gear grinds bro.....5 min later does burnout
Might as well right
So glad life od came back
Maybe its clutch, if its have self-adjustment pressure wheel on clutch, maybe its in wrong position and clutch not work as should.
So.. at what point did you guys realize it was a grease-pump and not and an oil pump?
Clutch may not be engaging all the way, possibly been put on backwards

Yeap its clutch issue. Wasnt Onion a car mechanic? He should know that
Check your check pedal adjustment rod to the slave
