- This 35th Anniversary Tour - Live In Poland release captures Toto's European tour that hit 29 cities staging successful concerts in Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
Recorded on June 25, 2013 in Lodz, Poland, the offering captures the band in the midst of a standing-room-only European tour. The two-hour-plus performance features Toto's hit stocked repertoire alongside other favorites.

in my opinion Simon filled Jeff's stool equally, with elegance and respect. He also took the band to a new place. I loved Jeff's drumming . In my head there will never be a better drummer to replace Jeff than Simon.

I like Simon Philips, but I don’t think his style works here on this song. I lacks punch and energy. Imo it’s also a few bpm too slow.
I disagree. No one could groove like Jeff could. Especially when you listen to Rosanna, that pocket is like no other. I think Sput (Toto’s new drummer) is the closest thing we’ve seen since Jeff played.

Simon is a very special drummer that really chooses the way he plays solos rather than hitting every drum he has for the sake of it.

As a long time drummer myself I cannot begin to explain to anyone who isn’t a musician just how incredibly talented these guys are. However if you have watched this as a non muso rest assured you’ve just watched one of the finest performances by a group of people who are and have been at the very top of their game for a very long time. Absolute perfection all round.

I couldnt agree more!! With Jeff, Steve Porcaro, and Mike Porcaro gone from the band, the replacements of Simon Phillips and Nathan East continue the unbelievable excellence of this band. Simon has played with some of the biggest names in music, Nathan has played on some of the most iconic songs ever, and with the continued presence of David Paiche and Steve Lukather, both playing on some of the biggest songs eve recorded, they truly are one of the most significant musical ensembles ever collected. In regards to studio involvement, they had formed the band before they got into studio work. However, the more session work they did, the more everybody wanted them, individually and collectively. There will never, NEVER, be another band or group of musicians like Toto. They are the best!!!
I'm not a musician, but when I watch this band I get incredibly emotional. Toto is undoubtedly one of the best musical groups of the last decades.

Simon Phillips was the best replacement for Jeff Pocaro. His work around the kit is just genius and fits so well with Toto's style.
I have to agree he actually does some songs better than Jeff, especially the prog rock stuff. Jeff was the master of shuffle groove, undisputed and unequalled but hearing Hydra with Simon is a completely different ballpark.
I wonder what Jeff Porcaro is like if he was still alive on this day? He must be killin' those drums with his big and energetic smile!

@@king-manu2758 Simon is a great player no doubt but he does not do this tune justice and isn't even playing the right groove for it. Jeff is literally one of the top 5 pocket players of all time in my opinion. Only a handful of guys could lay down groove and time like him. Thats why he was so sought after as a session guy.

June 2024 and Toto still rocking it. My all time favorite band. Was lucky to see them in concert a few years agoThey were in Seattle with Journey. What a night that was.

Simon Phillips Dynamic, created Toto's style following Porcaro's death, through 2013. Not just drumming, but producing as well. Its a loss that can be heard in their live shows today.
Although Simon is probably my favorite drummer, the current drummer is amazing and a very good fit for Toto.

I would also agree... BUT I really love the line up they had in 2007 live in Paris for the falling in between tour.
@@markwilliams9613 totally agree and yeah 2007 was a good lineup as well but nothing against greg but I feel if you take out David Paitch its somewhat one step away from the original members. So between the two I cannot pick one because its most likely on the availability of the musician, and at the end of the day these two lineups are the A-list "session musicians" meaning they are masters at their craft so its all good for Toto fans. I.m not really sure about the latest lineup though compared to 2007 and 2013

I listened to Toto growing up from grade school though high School and this was several yrs past but right here is when the sounded so so awesome!
The first time I saw Nathan East was expo92 on TV. (I think it was 92...) I taped it on VHS and watched it over and over, Steve Vai, Satch, Joe Walsh, Nuno and I think Eric Johnson was there although I missed his set cos the tape ran out . Gutted cos I bought the audio years later and Eric Johnson Was so fucking good. Nathan East was just effortlessly cool smiling through the whole show.
