Drake is a one trick pony. i stopped bothered chiming in after his 2nd lp. its like babysitting rap, and everyone eats it up. he does not have the theatrical prowess nor the international international recognition. in the history of mankind. nobody will ever ever ever top the king (stevie kinda got the voice but he dont got the moves - has more positive message, impact, and mans still alive :) ). the dances. the originality, the pain, just aint nobody will ever top his sincerity and the amount of sacrifices he and his family has made over the decades. nowadays everyone blowup over a single and see how the lp1 and lp2 rolls out...these dumb kids grown up with smartphones don't know legends, and its sad they truly won't know. lowkey felt disrespected when I saw the MJ-esque scene in 2 sexy...maybe if Drake starts dancing, bolsters his theatrics. Still no there is a finite life-cycle for a rapper-relevancy - and drake is lucky considering he got like 2-3 mehs per LP and its trash. and ye ironically compared himself to MJ as well but I appreciate ye more in the sense of execution. LPs are memorable, project by project. ye is cultural and there is absolutely no arguing to it [in objective cultural "impact" Drake has...aka only when he got an LP dropping]. at least ye did the footwear collab better than MJ did with LA GEAR.
Michael had people passing out on stage for only standing there. Aside from how big he was as a popstar and musical icon, he also was the voice of the people. Michael stood up for what he felt was right and fought for US. Drake on the other hand... Michael made songs about the horrendous things in the world to try to change that. Drake’s latest musical ventures told us he’s a lesbian too. Enough said.

Michael Jackson was a perfect storm of otherworldly talent, having already been a child star who grew up before the public’s eyes, having an already known legendary producer help produce his albums, revolutionizing the music video, a lack of instant access to the man due to social media not existing, which made him seem like a god, and being by argument’s sake the greatest live entertainer of all time. People had simply never seen anything like that before. No one can be that big again, it’s just not possible. Pop culture is too fragmented today. BlackySpeakz, we gotta be adults about the fact that Drake is gonna continue to shatter records b/c he's like structurally supported by Apple and Spotify to land in everyone's new releases playlist, no matter what. He's like an infrastructural part of the industry at this point lol, he's a the Taylor Swift of rap, he's the incumbent to the extent he's like, the default thing that's playing when you press play on whatever's there in any streaming app, soaks up all the lazy listens. I don't think it's about merit so much as complete marketing dominance
An important thing to remember is how album sales worked back then vs now. The convenience of being able to add an album to your library on a streaming service makes it so much easier to get sales compared to having people go out to a record store to buy your album.
I am 17 years old. MJ died when I was about 7 years old. I don’t really have an idea on how truly big MJ was to the world but I know that he is an absolutely incredible singer and an unbelievable performer and even I know that Drake (although I am a fan of his (even though CLB isn’t really that good compared to some of his other work I’m my opinion)) is no where near as impactful as MJ was to the world and music today. Without MJ who knows what pop would be like today. Whiteout drake, I’m not entirely sure there would be that much of a difference in the hip hop community

Drake is nowhere near MJ… I was at the bad concert in 1988, seen the emt’s on deck while the ppl where literally falling out. Drake does not have that effect on the culture.

For being who they are as a name MJ is Bigger, as for who's more relevant now it's gonna be Drake.
There will never be a star bigger than Michael Jackson. You can talk about how absurd Drake's streaming numbers are to try to refute this but that's exactly the reason why. The music star market is saturated now. Stars are too accessible now. The mystique is gone.

In today’s modern era of stans (which Mj even today has a huge stab cult similar to and even surpassing many K-pop stars), the conversion factor would definitely boost them. Especially since it’d be easier to communicate, and coordinate.

As far as the 90s, let's be honest, that was the beginning of the end. Dangerous was knocked off the top of the charts by Nevermind. Grunge dominated the 90s. Meanwhile, NWA and Public Enemy and hip-hop became way more relevant to the youth. Michael, Madonna, Prince...they all got tossed by the wayside in the 90s

Drake has more number 1 hits cry about it
MJ would never make CLB,
and he definitely would never sing about wishing he was a lesbian
id argue that Michael Jackson and Marilyn Monroe hold the title as the two most famous people to ever live.
@chrisman nelson Mandela is more of a political figure then a celebrate I don't think those are the same thing.
I don't believe in comparing MJ to Drake, But here goes.
MJ is a legend, a God level performer and made music that at the time was loved by just about everyone.
As for Drake he's the next best thing, A hit maker and a #1 Musician.
Yes he (Drake) has Numbers on paper over MJ but I strongly believe MJ's music has reached further and wider than any of Drake's music.
One is iconic and another is on his way there, as for the music it self I would not disrespect MJ or Drake and compare they music.
For being who they are as a name MJ is Bigger, as for who's more relevant now it's gonna be Drake.
Yeah u can’t really compare the stats of a 21 song album to a 9 song album that came out in the 80’s
There will never be a star bigger than Michael Jackson. You can talk about how absurd Drake's streaming numbers are to try to refute this but that's exactly the reason why. The music star market is saturated now. Stars are too accessible now. The mystique is gone.

Michael Jackson Thriller the greatest selling album to this day just one album top Drake whole career
The way you explained it was put perfectly. The influence from the past when the digital age wasn't as accessible as it was is a great way to explain it.
My dad told me at one point, people were actually debating wether Michael Jackson was more famous than Jesus. I think that alone should put this comparison to rest.
Yep
This is true and in many circles its still debatable
I wasn't expecting that hehe in the background, That shit made laugh pretty hard. But yeah people are crazy to think that this is a valid comparisons in my opinion. This is my first commenting on a video so I just wanted to say I really fuck with the channel and your outlook on things.
There are only two people that can be compared to Michael Jackson
1. The Beatles [5 diamond albums, 20 #1 hits, 600+ million records sold worldwide]
2. Elvis Presley [Sold 1 billion records worldwide]
I think you mean 20#1 hits
@@kingjuicy3023 I changed it
Elvis is overrated. Stole his whole style from black artist.
why are people even comparing these two anyway, it's just not needed.
